* There those songs that the moment you hear the first few seconds it transports to the time and place where you were happy, iinnocent and young. Hearing this again I remember running home to watch Ralph McDaniels' Video Music Box. Sitting on the floor bopping my head and immediately begging my mom's for those bright colored shorts and to PLEASE get my hair cut like that.

Great record when hip hop was at its BEST diverse creative and different. These were qualtities that were and embraced and rewarded...not so much now. That beat was ill and two young clever MCs just rhyming...still have NO IDEA what they were talking about but I STILL know ever word

[Haas G.]
I can definitely hold (hold) a title
Drink a beer and fold, the suckas are legit
Who told (told) the public that we weren't bold
(Now that's a definite disgrace)
Disgrace (yeah)
So I have to give the public what they want
(Fear) is just a total disruption of my stunt
(You're being very blunt)
Now I'll unto a method that's new to start a hunt (How?)
Well, I kick it like so you see, I'm a UMC
Giving giving blows three forces of nature
Earth, wind, fire, let's negate the
Good cause I'm bad with the skill to create the
Quite slick, various tricks of the know how
Of a master like Col. Powell

[Kool Kim]
Kick up, now that's just a common expression when I pick up
And start to teach my first lesson
(Arithmetic, reading, and writing) Not too exciting
I'll pick up on teachings that orchestrate my kingdom
Based upon elements of lyrics I bring them
Stone by stone (but did you build it alone?)
No kid was prone to seek it alone
From the kid who did, sell a party well
(Do tell) Oh well, I done told on
(Wait up hold on) Nah, watch him flow on
So on, so on, watch me grow on
I keep growing til I start to sneeze
(What's Mark salad's G's?) Blue cheese

[Haas G.]
Blue cheese is the topic at hand
Cheesy blue (true) elements can't stand
When I elaborate on the fake calobrate
Non potent forces of a food for a rodent
(Jokes?) Nope, just comes later
The procreator, I'm the one that saved the
Year of 1991, made it obvious for the entire world to find the fun
Or better yet we (kind of clever) get
The level said "check" all hands on deck
For the source of my skill is all real
Fashioned to eliminate the weak who are marked with the seal
Of blue cheese

[Kool Kim]
Now back to the nest at the foot of the tree
One for the hype MC, the cool in me
The Kim, the cooling, I'm a slave for no man
Stand like low pants, slam like Rodan
Who can? (You can?) Damn, I'm grand dad
Step off the runway, I'm preparing for landing
Three-point drop turn stop and freeze
Spin 360 degrees for blue cheese

All truth...

hell I wore my jacket zipped open and of the shoulder for months in the damn Brooklyn COLD starting talking with my hands like you spitting the wackest lyrics in creation...

True artists like yourselves had a TREMENDOUS influence on our generation. We didn't give shit how much you sold billboard numbers what your second single was what your marketing and promotion budget came in at...

We felt like you WERE us the best of us and what we could be. So if you said "Be a father to your child" we took that to heart..."Fight the Power", 'Heal yourself" 'Young Gifted and Black'...

Hell we DID actually know most of ya'll from around the way or a friend's cousin's barber...the internet in a sense robbed us of that. Buying a CD or tape opening it reading the notes and looking at the pictures,, arguing with friends about beats and rhymes....it was more REAL.

And we were able to EMBRACE new groups...and still be loyal to established acts. Not like now where its like a blood wedding and if you like one act you CANNOT like anyone else.

I remember memorizing Scoob and Scrabs dance routine's with my cousins and doing the dance at family cookouts. And EVERYONE knew the dance from videos and the Apollo there was much more unity not only in the hip hop community but generational in OUR community because of sampling, videos and the radio our parents KNEW our music and actually enjoyed much of it.

Aint nobody had a problem with Heavy D, BDK, Kwame, Latifah, ATCQ your grandma knew LL liked big ole butts and jingling earrings!

Sorry man didn't mean to run on but I just wanted you to know that MANY of us got love and appreciate you and your peers work, we may not be as vocal...but we here.

Thank you brother and continued success..

now when I get home I'm gonna bust my ass in front of my girls trying to do your dance with a twist of Kid N Play hopping over my own leg

According to YouTube commenter MysticalTV:
“Blue Cheese stands for Fake Rodent MC’S who are cheesy these MCS are Truly (BLUE) fake (Cheesy) its a Paradoxic Irony. These Brothers were Genius”

I remember buying the cd when I was in the military. Those were the days young, no kids, not married.

if I were to buy this again, for the 3rd time, you guys wouldn't get paid?

Blew up the jams over here in the UK too. From the very first second it starts it was instant crowd euphoria! Man I miss those days.

Groups like you guys are what made Hip Hop so great! I loved Blue Cheese and One to Grow on. However my favorite song on the album was Morals. I liked the sublime/melancholy feel of the song. Like the op says this music is timeless and takes you back to better days. Thanks for what you have created! Wish there was more groups like the UMC's.

Take care Kool Kim!
