he has a few songs out where he doesnt use autotune
Not really surprised by this as T-Pain is talented
I think he said he took time off from music because he was dealing with depression and alcoholism so your assessment isn't too far off
Without auto tune you can now really hear what he is saying, and one thing I never realized is that sure sure sings about alcohol a lot, doesn't he... Almost makes him seem like he has a problem.

I worked in Clearwater/Tampa/St. Petersburg in '07...knew it then from all of the spins, interviews, and appearances he did in the area.

People knocking him for autotune, that are not in the music industry, actually pushed education of autotune to the masses in the fact that EVERY artist has this on their voice if they are a vocalist.
