Muscled Up Gramps Explains The Riddle Of Staying Young...

This is true grasshopper, but you can live the rest of your life healthy and not miserable.

I just spoke to my father today for the first time in 3 years. He is 66 years old and has high blood pressure, emphysema, COPD, diabetes, and needs an oxygen tank.

66. If he gets to 80 it will be another miserable 14 years

I motherfucking refuse. I am in the best shape now as I have been since I got off active duty in 99. I heard one of my co-workers talk about how I was filling out my shirt when she didn't think I could hear her.

Low weight, high reps

People NEVER seem to grasp

This concept! Quality of life is key!

I've been working out since I was 14 and I will work out til the day I die. I wont be no fat old mutherfucker.

Can't agree more!

I don't "Work out" per se, but I chose to be a part time bike courier to have a financial incentive to exercise. I pay insane rents to live in SF in part because it's a walking city where it's easy to get healthy food. Generally do a lot of stuff people call "crazy white boy shit".

That statement is ignorant on so many levels, but that's another thread. At the end of the day my dad just had his prostate removed, my mom's rheumatoid arthritis hampers her photography career, my roommate just had veracospe veins pulled out of her leg, my aunt and uncle died of type II diabetes. Grandpa had a stroke that paralyzed him for the last 7 years of his life. That's no way to live.

For our entire lives we're taught that our goals should center around working at a desk and living in a neighborhood where you need to drive 3 miles to get a quart of milk. In 24 hours we're taught to sleep for 8, work for 8 and somehow wedge "the gym" into the other 8 hours we have left. Is it any wonder nobody exercises? Is it any wonder we've all become sick, fat, depressed and isolated?

Good shit, how many reps are you doing per set?

-Don't listen to Youtube characters because the truth is 90% of them are liars and take drugs to maintain a look that their selling you,the public.
-Genetics,diet,hard work and knowledge will keep you here a little longer, along with your fingers & toes crossed because you can embody all of that but die from cancer, get hit by a bus or die from natural causes.
-Mentally being strong...your biggest strength is mental more than physical, you keep that together you're just that much better.

My diet is tight...6 small meals a day....

Training is real...7 days per week..full body everyday

Squats every but variations of them

Cardio is on point 45 min morn and eve

Have you ever posted your split? Do you have cheat days because 7 days at full body is a lot. When does your body recover?

I have a workout thread going in the fitness forum but i havent been on it in a while.

Here is the deal..im not trying to gain size or mass..i already have that. I maintain and make sure i get plenty of rest and try to avoid stress and keep bullshit out of my life.

Chest day is every day.but i hit lower one day and upper the next. I do push one day such as bench then contraction like chest fly with cables.

Im not a young buck so trust me when i say you can hit it 7 days per week and look great.

Do you do any keto or intermittent fasting?

Keto is low carb...intermeittent fasting is for those who trying to loose weight. I dont have any special diet to be honest. I eat healthy but i eat choice quality foods and take supplements. Bcaa's and a muilti vit to be exact..i dont do the exotic shit anymore cause it is all a waste of money.

Its all about getting in the gym and hitting it hard and not standing around bullshitting. As you get older your overall quality of life improves because your understanding about your body increases for the better.

That last line struck a chord...

"Some people die at 25 but are buried at 70."

I'm gonna murder my daily run today based off that alone.

Is that "wisdom" as call it. That's common sense. Same can be said for individuals who are scared to leave their neighborhoods, folk scared to go skiing ,hiking etc. If that's motivation im happy for u breh.

While he's not even close to as bad as the instagram fitness thots who hawk slim tea in their surgery altered bodies- even if he's on gear he still has to work, them bitches sell 'drink this tea, put on this waist training and You too can have a body built in a Costa Rican Hospital'- I see what you getting at.

Age will hinder you but you shouldn't let age stop you from being a better you. I think that's the message.

That being said, the only cats I've seen north of 50 built like that are either on some shit....

Indian dude looking like, "Can you believe this shit?"

good drop OP and other contributors. real good talk. nothing like working out to get you out of an existential middle age crisis. my main thing is yoga and tai chi, but i also swim, run, hike, walk, play basketball, and cycle. i try to keep it fresh. the thing that is really making me feel younger is that can do mindset along with yoga, drinking lots of water and my diet (i keep meats of all kinds to a minimum, i prep my own food exploring all kinds of vegetables and ways of preparing them). again outstanding thread regardless of your age.
