Multiple explosions and ongoing fires at the Dow Chemical Plant in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Update 4/25/23 explosion at Marathon in Garyville, La

PLAQUEMINE - A series of explosions at the Dow chemical plant along the Mississippi River triggered panic in parts of the capital area late Friday night.

Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi told WBRZ that six explosions were detected at the facility around 9:30 p.m.. Witnesses living nearby caught video of massive flames and said the shockwave was felt from miles away, including in parts of Baton Rouge.

All plant personnel has since been accounted for, and the firefighters appeared to have the flames under control as of around 11 p.m.

Anyone who traveled thru Da Boot via I10 (if you’re coming from Lafayette)….
before you cross the bridge to enter Baton Rouge….
the Port Allen exit is where this chemical
plant is located….
I’m say the faculty is about 5 mins, from the interstate going west

Crazy :smh: Prayers and blessing to those affected or injured, America and the Mississippi river are in a vice of flames :smh:, Chem Fires near the Gulf and Wildfires in Canada :smh:

If you fish in the Mississippi them fish gone be already fried when you catch them.

This is not good yeah has been a lot of shit going on around the damn world not just United States. We are going to fucking kill ourselves before climate change does:smh:

I believe there has been news stories about that chemical plant. How the residence has experienced a extremely high number of cancer deaths and diagnosis.

That fire doesn't help things either.

I never mentioned anything about what chemicals they use. Besides where I work at, we use Several different raw materials from Dow. In different forms liquid and powder.

Well, I just found out the chemical that was near the fire and probably caused a fire and it is used to make antifreeze and that particular chemical Has to be kept under freezing temperatures because it’s very reactive with heat. Something tells me the refrigeration component for this chemical had a malfunction and then boom.

Bruh you crazy… lol

No injuries is wild- hardly any national news coverage is even crazier. Between this and the multiple chemically laden trains that have gone belly up it’s suspicious there isnt more talk after our crumbling infrastructure….not to mention how these look like accidents the Joker pulls off in comics…

The company said the fire is contained to the refinery’s property, about 40 miles west of New Orleans, and there have been no injuries.

“As a precautionary measure, St. John the Baptist Parish is requiring residents within a one-mile radius of the part of the refinery closest to the fire to temporarily evacuate to locations the Parish is making available,” Marathon said in a news release.

CNN has reached out to the Parish emergency management, Fire Department, and to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality for more information.

“As always, our main priority is to ensure the safety of our employees and contractors, our neighbors within our surrounding community, first responders, and to limit environmental impact,” Marathon Petroleum Corp. said. “An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the release.”

If you have a good view of the explosion and can see it then, it's time to run. It reminds me of the explosions in Tianjin Explosions in China back in 2015. Muthafuckaz in their balconies many blocks away were being blown the fuck back.
