I can't believe someone was actually arguing with me about this. Figured I'd take it to my bgol brothers.

I personally think Ali would have taken him to the distance winning 7 rounds. His speed, tactics and ability to take a punch would have out. Lenox's glass jaw.

Muhammad Ali: won 56 (KO 37) + lost 5 (KO 1) + drawn 0 = 61
height: 6'3", reach: 80“, weight range at peak: 215-220

Lenox Lewis: won 41 (KO 32) + lost 2 (KO 2) + drawn 1 = 44
height: 6' 5", reach: 84“, weight range at peak: 235-245

Ali beat Heavyweights during his era that were better than Lewis or anyone Lewis faced during his entire era....

that's a damn good point. the 60's, 70's and early 80's saw some of the best heavyweights. men who would have been champs in other eras.

the only thing is that Ali didn't have a lot of knockout power when he got past 30.

Jimmy Young
George Foreman
Ron Lyle
Joe Frazier
Sonny Liston
Floyd Patterson
Leon Spinks
Ernie Shavers
Buster Mathis

hell even Larry Holmes was his sparring partner

although in thinking again Lennox did fight and beat some good fighters

Tyson
Holyfield
Razor Ruddick
Tony Tucker
Frank Bruno
Mike Weaver
Klitchko
Mercer

Lenox was champ when the rest of the division was either too old or not ready. Not to mention he got beat by two of the lesser heavyweights. (McCall and Rahman)

Ali was a better counter-puncher with lightning speed. Lenox fights too timid and has a glass jaw.

In a 10/12 round fight (todays standard)-Ali by decision.
In an old fashioned 15/18 round fight-Ali by knockout

AFter Tyson and Holyfield this list sucks compared to the one of Ali's opponents. Ali also beat Cleveland Wiliams and Jerry Quarry would have been champs in other eras.

I agree.

With the exception of Mathis, Spinks and maybe Patterson.
Everybody on your list would have knock the weak jawed Lewis the fuck out.

how is Lennox even a great when he only became a 'great' after beating an old Mike Tyson .... and I wasnt that impressed with his win over Klitchko .... not to mention he was floored by Rahman .... and dude retired just to avoid fighting Klitcho again ... I have seen a lot of his fights .... he aint no great to me. He doesnt even make it into the top 10 all time.

Ali is the greatest ... theres not even an argument.

Patterson was an Uncle Tom Punk...and Lewis would have knocked his weak ass out...but you can certainly add Jimmy Young to that list.
He was a pitty-patter who never knocked anyone out,but he was a defensive wiz who once beat George Foreman.

Jimmy Young was a sneaky bad cat. I liked his style.

The Ali that beat Cleveland was the best of Ali. The Ali after Foreman was slower with less power.

That Ali is probably unbeatable.

Ali was the best to ever step into the "square circle". Bar none. And yes, I'm even speaking "pound for pound". before they took his title, you couldn't touch Ali. Ali probably would've reached his peak in '69. he was head and shoulders above everything out there when thay took his title but, I don't think he had reached his apex. After he beat Liston, he was still getting better. When he beat up Ernie Terrell in the Astrodome, that was the best we ever saw of Ali. I mean skill wise. That was the only time i ever saw Ali fight in anger. he beat Ernie Terrell up unmercifully. and I don't mean that in a good way. he didn't have to beat him up liket hat. I say that in the same breath that I tell you Ali is one of my heroes. However, his skills were the best that we ever witnessed of him at that point. hand speed, footwork, punching power and accuracy. it is a testament to his greatness that after he came back three years later, he was still the best out there. Yeah, Joe Frazier beat him but, if Ali had fought maybe two more tune up fights he would've beat Frazier. As he did twice later. I would argue to the death that nobody could beat Ali at his prime (1966). And again I say, I still don't think he had reached his peak.

We are talking prime here....and a prime Ali is not beatable by anyone.

The prime Ali had middleweight speed at six-three,two twenty...
Also was under-estimated was his chin,as in his later years after his speed had left he took some hard shots from some true heavy hitters. So ever if he had gotten hit...it would not have mattered.

He would have sliced and diced a prime Holyfeild,a prime Foreman,a prime Lewis...and any of these current Russians he would have made look stupid.

Not questioning your boxing knowledge Bruh but, when did Jimmy Ellis beat George Foreman? Foreman didn't turn pro until somewhere around '69 or '70. he won the gold in the '68 Olympics in Mexico City. Ellis got KO'd by Frazier in the box off to name a new champ after they took Ali's title. I'm just curious as to when they fought. As far as I know, Foreman was undefeated when he and Ali fought in '75.

what about Ali & Holyfield who would you take.

Holyfield (when he first moved up to heavyweight) was too small for Ali. Remember, Holyfield made his claim to fame early on as a light heavyweight. He had the weight (when he first moved up) but, it wasn't natural. as time went on he grew into being a heavyweight. Either way, Ali would've TKO'd him. He'd a "peppered" Holyfield to death. Holyfield wasn't fast enough (hand wise or foot wise) to stay up with Ali.

see how all these guys stood right in front of Lewis? ali would've never been there. lewis was like a modern day Foremen for his era. He had better boxing skills but, he was a round house puncher. tailor made for Ali. Ali would've given him a steady diet of right leads and frustrated the hell out of him. he would've knocked LL out. let's not forget LL had no chin at all.

Even in both of their primes, Ali would beat Lenox Lewis without a problem. Look how he humiliated Foreman "The Knock Out Machine". Ali would even beat Tyson in his prime when Tyson was only 18 and destroying everyone on the scene. Ali is and always will be the best ever boxer. See why his daughter is so great and feared?

What's funny brothers is that one day I was watching an old clip of Tyson versus James 'Quick' Tillus. Tyson won the fight, but it was his first non knockout fight. Tillus gave him fits. Looking at the style. Tillus was a poor man's Ali. So it was like watching a dimensioned skills Ali and Tyson couldn't handle him.

Although like most of you I went for Ali. You still gotta give Lennox some dap. The cat was bad and he did fight some good fighters and those he lost to were flukes that he revenged.

cosign. Ali was way too big for Tyson. The only prayer in hell that Tyson would've had is if Ali started playing with him and got caught. People forget how big Ali is because he was so graceful and athletic. Ali is a very big man. When he came into the ring at 217 1/2 lbs. he was unbeatable. In his prime, Ali would've beat Tyson to death. But, even after his layoff, he would've psyched Mike out and frustrated him. Mike might've run out of the ring in frustration.

Even early on in Mike's career (before everyone was pertrified when they got in the ring with him). Tall guys gave Mike problems. i.e. Mitch "blood" Green, and Tony Tucker. Mike beat 'em but, he didn't walk right across the ring and BOOM the fight was over.

I didn't say Jimmy Ellis beat Foreman...but Jimmy YOUNG did. After he fought Ali..as Foreman will admit he went a little nuts.Ali took his manhood...Foreman trying regain it,even fought FIVE guys in one night!!
In 77,he lost to Jimmy Young in a 12 round dec...Young could not hurt anyone, but could make you miss and kept smacking George.

I stand corrected. I misread.
