Where is the best mix of people

Summerlin vs Spring Valley?

Best school district?
Or would I have to settle for charter/private school?

Black Barbershop?

Black hangout spots safe and away from the strip?

Where do young professionals hang out?

thanks

The most concentrated black population is in North Las Vegas, where you'd have no problem finding a barbershop.

Pretty sure all of Vegas is one school district, Clark County, 5th largest in the nation last I heard. (There was talk of breaking it up.)

It really isn't the best place to live-- I can't point you to an area with the "best mix of people" but it damn sure ain't Summerlin or Spring Valley. Transient city without much culture.

But stay the fuck away from North Las Vegas if you're sending kids to school. TERRIBLE. I think the quality pretty much tracks with the economy of a given area. The better schools I know of are closer to Henderson; I don't know about Summerlin area schools. Spring Valley is okay in that regard. NV is always battling Mississippi for that #49 spot in the nation it seems-- I haven't seen numbers the past few years but I'd be shocked if NV wasn't one of the worst ten states for education still.

This word right here "Transient" speaks volumes.

Once I was traveling south with my wife and kids and we reached the "South of The Border" between north and south Carolina. We stopped because my wife and daughter had to use the restroom. They get out and go into the bathroom together which was a short distance from where I parked and out of my view. So for a few minutes I'm sitting there in the car with my son just looking at all the people coming and going, truckers, other vacationers, migrant workers, you name it. Just tons of people stoping and going, essentially no mans land.

Then it hits me! Something told me to get out of the fucking car and wait for my wife and daughter near the bathroom because, If my wife, daughter, or both were victimized in the bathroom, by the time I may have realized it. Who knows where in the hell the attackers may be because that spot is just off I95. And by the time the police get there forget about it, dudes could be in GA, VA, TN, who knows where the fuck else.

I didn't notice too many cameras at the time and what the fuck good is a description if the police don't know where the fuck to circulate a wanted poster.

I offer this preface because, the word "Transient" speaks volumes and that's one of the things that I always thought about Vegas. There's just too many people there that have no real vested interest in Vegas, there's no real sense of community. A lot of people who lived there are employees in capacity or another at one of the casinos. Other than that you have vacationers, gamblers, travellers passing through and a fair amount of homeless because the climate allows them to live outside on the streets all year round.

Vegas just seems to me like a huge gathering of people from everywhere EXCEPT vegas. Not a place I would consider trying to raise a family.

How bad is the crime in Vegas?

How is Vegas off the strip?

Is it like a big town, small city... etc?

I took my first and last Vegas vacation back in 2016. Before I could check into the hotel I was hit with a predatory "resort fee" and was steered into a time share presentation. IMO this sums up the character of Las Vegas and its people.

I would rather live in a roach filled studio in the Tenderloin than a mansion in Las Vegas. At least the TL has easy access to the parts of the city with the best jobs. In Vegas your car breaks down and your fucked. I can only imagine what will happen when the roads become gridlocked and the city doesn't have enough money to maintain them. College grads fighting for minimum wage at Long John Silvers because they no way to get to a real job on time. God help them if the water system breaks down too.

The growing organized white terrorist insurgency is just the icing on the shit cake.

I have a close friend who lives in Vegas that I visit periodically.
Whenever we go out, its rarely to the strip.
He's taken me to tons of black spots that are off the strip.
Just follow this Instagram page, they're good at posting all the black events.

I was there 3 weeks when I was in the military. It was cool, but I don't think I could live there. It seems like you can't trust the locals because they are steady scheming on getting money from you somehow.

Part of it is based on what I saw when I took a trip out there. The hotel actually had a time share presentation room! Even now 18 months later I'm still getting sales calls from these bastards. I also saw ATMs with $10 withdrawal fees, stores that don't give away matches with cigarettes and $80 tickets to see fucking Cameo! A band that plays for free at county fairs. Vegas knows how to put the 'trap' in tourist trap.

The gridlock predictions are based on there being over half a million people and no public rail system outside the strip. I'm in SF which has one of the best transit systems in the country and even they can barely keep up with the road repairs. What happens when the Vegas roads wear out and there's no other way to get around? This is a disaster waiting to happen.

IMO the best way to escape poverty is to have cheap and reliable transportation to where the jobs are. Las Vegas is going in the opposite direction.

There's a time share presentation at any tourist place. Vegas, Disney World, Islands.....all those places do that. You gotta be a fool to let those folks take your info down.
Yeah the ATM fees are crazy. Its a gambling town, they capitalize on people wanting money to gamble. But I bank with Wells Fargo, and I get money as I please out the bank at no fee right on the strip.
A lot of the traffic in Vegas is on the strip. And people walk that shit most of the time.Vegas makes billion a year. Aint nothing happening to those roads that they cant fix.
I used to work at a casino, and I know folks that have moved to Vegas strictly to make money in the gaming industry. Good money.
If I were balling out of control, I would live in Vegas. But otherwise its a fun get away to go kick it. Been to Vegas 7 times. I love to gamble and get fucked up....so its my type of place :dunno:

I agree that the strip is very walkable for tourists, but what about the people who live outside it? The ones who make $8.25/hr in a city where an 8 mile bus ride can take over an hour? If the transit system isn't reliable then these people are going to drive broken down uninsured cars to get a paycheck and pray to god they don't stall out or get caught. I can only imagine what this does to traffic or police resources when their prayers go unanswered.

My preferred vacation spot is NYC. Great food, wonderful shows lots to do, easy to get around etc. It's one of the few cities I've visited that I would consider living in (maybe Los Angeles in a pinch). Checking out New Orleans for the first time next month too.

If you like Vegas that's cool, I can see some of the appeal, especially if you live somewhere cold. For me though it was pretty disagreeable to say the least.

Just got back from Vegas a couple of days ago. Great place to kick it for a couple of days, but no way in hell I could live there.
They get extreme weather, it's either really hot or really cold.
But plenty of drink, gambling and sports betting. Plus, weed is legal now over there. They have dispensaries you can buy your weed from.
I would say 2-3 days in Vegas is enough for most folks.

Cuz I'm a married man, shun. Didn't go there to check out "bitches". From my past experience though, there's a lot of hustling women out there trying to get dudes to break bread at every turn.
