I think I overshot the 100M budget by about 99.99999 million on my initial guesstimate.

I won't be watching SHARKULA.

:roflmao3: :frozen:

But I certainly dloaded THE REEF STALKED ... it looks alright. If it turns out to be terrible, I will do the usual 5 minute watch in fast-forward.

Lol @ the Alicia Silverstone diss on her shark movie months ago.
That shit pissed me off.. I'm a cinephile so I enjoy watching movies. I watched the 1992/1993 movie Dead Alive, so I've sat through bad movies with some redeeming qualities in the past, but this was just bad all the way around.

When there is absolutely nothing redeeming about a movie, fuck you and anybody who had anything to do with this movie.

I remember giving that movie one star, wishing I had the capability of giving it even less than that.

My downloading computer just crapped out and I have to figure out how to download torrents on my new laptop. When you've been using a laptop for over 10 years to download shit, it has every program in it you need to do what you need to do.

Having to completely set up a new one is a pain in the ass because you can't even remember what you did to set up the one that died because it was so long ago

I hear you on that! My back-up / download computer is an 11yo Toshiba laptop. I really want to get rid of it and transfer stuff off, but it’s so durable and hasn’t caused me any issues really. And like you said - has all the familiar software in place.

A24 did it again

Dopeness. Not many movies have as much heart and depth. It brightens your day. You leave happy and a better person. They put thought in this movie and it shows.

I see why this was in peoples list of top movies for the first half of the year.

It will be in my top ten for the year.

Watched both the Top Gun movies this past weekend. The original on Saturday, and the new one on Sunday evening.

I had never seen the original movie, simply because it was one of those movies I already knew plenty about. The pop culture references over the years, the interviews, music soundtrack & seeing clips on Youtube. Plus, I was only 6yo when the original was released. Saved it on the DVR last year knowing I would be seeing the new one this year.

Watched the current one on the big screen.

Enjoyed both.

The original is a fun watch, and the sequel is basically about as good as you can do a sequel nearly 40 years later. The camera work and amount of footage they took and condensed down to just over 2 hours. The nostalgia and callbacks / references were done well, and not over the top. Job well done by everyone. That's how you do a big screen popcorn movie.

I sort of had the same experience. I saw Maverick first at the movies, and then went back and watched the first one on Netflix. Paramount was genius for having it on Netflix that first week.

I knew of the first one, but I'm not sure if I ever saw it, at least not the whole thing. Probably parts when it was on TV.

After I saw it, I went back and saw Maverick again and got more of the call backs. It wasn't necessary to see the first one, but you sort of picked up the Iceman relationship more.

The original wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I expected it to be a lot cheesier and campier since it's almost 40 years old.

I liked it, I probably didn't love it, but I still liked it a lot. It never bored me.

The performances were great. Daniel is one of our best actors. He's able to say so much, just by expressions.

It was thought provoking, because I find myself randomly talking about it.

I did have some issues at how they did the alien, I still don't get it and why he chose to do it that way.

Agreed re: Paramount / Netflix.

I had it saved on the DVR for a year or two off of AMC.

Yeah - it held up well for a movie from the mid-80s.

Yes - well done re: past relationship.

Thought the piano scenes for both movies were great.

I liked it, but the ending was a bit strange. It was like they did several endings, and went with the most shocking, but it was the most unnatural.

The family was more interesting than the other characters, so when it wasn't centered around them I sort of lost interest.

It was also funny to me, but I don't think it will be funny to everyone, because I was the only one laughing at times. It had a lot of dry humor.

I remember seeing the trailer for this flick prior to its release and it looked interesting. Never got a chance to watch it until last night.

It’s a political, dark comedy movie that tries to be like the classic films “Dr. Strangelove” and “Blazing Saddles”, but comes up short. There are some funny bits, but nothing that will have you on the floor laughing.

Visually the film looks good and it has some pretty decent VFX/SFX for it being a low budget B movie.

The politics of the film is based around 2012 from how the US was going. It somewhat shows the foundation of the MAGA movement with Trump.

For the militants, there is a Black supporting character thru-out the film who is the basis of some of the racist jokes in the film. It isn’t done the way you think, but done in a dark comedic way for the tone of the film. There is also some interracial tension between his character and a white woman who is a supporting character. All they do is open mouth kiss.

For the InCells, there is some minor female empowerment thru-out the film. Not too noticeable, but if you are the type that focus’ on stuff like that, you will notice it.

For the Thirsty, plenty of eye candy thru-out the film. No nudity or sex, just a lot of attractive women seen thru-out the film. There is a sister with a non-speaking role in one scene that is a cutie and has a thick body on her.

The film is on tubi along with being on PlutoTV and VUDU. All 3 services have it for free.

There are sequels that I plan on watching in due time for later review.

Synopsis

An army of Nazis, hidden in a moon base for 70 years, prepares a gigantic warship for an invasion of Earth in 2018.

Thanks for the review. Won a copy of this one on blu-ray from a local contest. Didn't have a chance to see it, as I included it with some gifts for a friend years back.

Oh shit ... yet another shark movie.

:roflmao3: :giggle:

Had this one on in the background this AM. It was ok. Not terrible. Good background filler.

Keep in mind I caught about 10% of the dialogue as I was multi-tasking heavy.

You know ... downloading some porn, paying bills, taking phone calls, texting & planning my schedule for August.

I don't think there was any T&A to be seen. The CGI wasn't awful like some shark movies of late.

Not gonna go in-depth on this. Will keep it short.

This is the sequel to the first flick I recently reviewed. There are a few characters who carry over to this film.

This film falls under “Mindless Entertainment”. If this franchise interests you, then watch, other than that don’t waste your time.

It looks great visually and decent VFX/SFX….that’s all it has.

The first end credits leads into a mid-credit scene for a potential sequel.

Synopsis

Following the devastating aftermath of nuclear war on Earth, a former Nazi moon base has become the last refuge for mankind.

Limited supplies and overpopulation threaten the survivors until Obi, the leader's daughter, finds a map pointing to a power buried deep under Earth's wasted surface that could save mankind or destroy it once and for all.

When an old enemy leads the heroes on an adventure into the Hollow Earth, they must fight an ancient shape-shifting reptilian race to save humanity.

Talked to my pops yesterday and he said he was taking his GF to see Top Gun in the evening. Hopefully they like it.

He didn’t get around to seeing it last weekend. His knee has been acting up off and on for yrs. Bone on bone pain. He’s got some upcoming scans scheduled and hopes to get a knee replacement next yr if the waiting list allows for it. I think it’s from old sports wear and tear from decades back and always having trouble with his foot arches. Favoring one side puts more stress on leg and knee, etc.

PRAISE: This is one of those action comedies that shouldn't really work but for the most part this story about a seeking zen, unlucky assassin portrayed by Brad Pitt who's determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs has gone off the rails works. The various characters are very entertaining and so are there backstories and I'm glad the writers took the time to flesh them out.The action sequences were fun and well choreographed I couldn't stop laughing at one crazy sequence towards the end of the film. There is a Kill Bill and The Usual suspects vibe that I liked. The violence is extremely over the top and not for the faint of heart. I praise the casts commitment to the stunts and well choregraphed fight sequences they were a part of.
I really enjoyed the cameos. I really think some of the actors called some of their actor friends and said: come on it will be fun and only a days work. The film looks great with its neon to muted colors.

PROBLEMS: The film attempts to be more complex than it needs to be.Sometimes the overstylized moments overwhelmed me.There is a real cartoonish vibe here and there in the film. There are a couple of characters that are very obnoxious and I was in high anticipation to see them meet their end. Sometimes the score overwhelmed what some of the characters were saying.

Diahann Carroll was trending today. Some people were talking about Paris Blues (1961)

People started talking about the movie Paris Blues with Diahann Carroll, Sidney Poitier and Paul Newman. Good Lord Jesus she is fine in this movie

I don't blame Sidney Poitier one bit for cheating on his wife with her. I heard in this movie there was a number of Affairs including Sidney Poitier who cheated on his wife, Diahann Carroll who cheated on her husband, and Paul Newman who left his wife for the woman in this movie

Here is the clip from the Johnny Carson show. This is the full clip where she sings in the beginning. I didn't know she could sing.

She is 44 in this Johnny Carson clip and she doesn't look a day over 30. Absolutely fucking gorgeous, so elegant and classy. She had Johnny drooling by the end of this clip

It's a pretty decent copy on YouTube and it has subtitles. She is fine as all Outdoors. This is the full movie

This is that old school elegance and class. You'd have a HARD time encountering that today.

And today, she would've been "cancelled" for what she said beginning at the 11:50 mark!

This is a new supernatural, thriller flick uploaded on Netflix.

I’m gonna keep it short, the premise for this film has been done a zillion times since 2001. There ain’t nothing in this film you haven’t seen.

If you are a fan of supernatural thrillers and it’s mandatory that you watch every new one that comes out….this film is for you.

If not….skip it.

For the Thirsty, actress Sandra OH stars. She never was anything to look at, but in this film she isn’t glammed up with 50lbs of makeup trying to look “White”. She has a natural look thru-out the film and kind of looks like a decent Korean MILF you could give a pity Fuck to on a Tuesday night. HaHa!!!

And like all these films, they left it off for a sequel.

Synopsis

A woman's quiet life on an American farm takes a terrifying turn when the remains of her estranged mother arrive from Korea.
