This is a Sci-Fi, comedy disaster film that is a satire on today's culture and political climate that debuted earlier this month on Netflix.

It mirrors what is going in with how this country is dealing with the pandemic.

The film has a all-star cast of actors in a variety of roles thru-out the movie. They all play their roles well even with the comedy.

The film is getting good reviews and being nominated for a number of film awards in the US and around the world for upcoming film festivals.

If you are looking for something different and you have a sense of humor, you will enjoy this film.

At the end, watch the credits which rolls directly into the mid-credit scene. It plays out exactly on how these mofos will handle a situation like this in real life. There is also a post credit scene.

Synopsis

Two low-level astronomers must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth.

Don't Look Up began a limited theatrical release on December 10, 2021, prior to streaming on Netflix on December 24, 2021. It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the cast but found McKay's approach to the subject heavy handed. Despite the reviews, it was named one of the top ten films of 2021 by the National Board of Review and American Film Institute, and received four nominations at the 79th Golden Globe Awards, including Best Picture – Musical or Comedy, and six at the 27th Critics' Choice Awards, including Best Picture.

If you are familiar with the classic “The Human Centipede”. This film follows the same premise.

It starts out right in the opening scene with the story. Character and Story development is done thru-out the film.

The film has a twist ending that is weird. I won’t give it away.

The rolling of the end credits has visuals that play along with the films twist ending.

For the Thirsty, there is plenty of nudity showing the female character. She has a nice body that you will see fully at the end of the movie.

The film is from Spain and Netflix has it dubbed in English. The film is also only one hour and 10 minutes long.

Synopsis

Two strangers awaken to discover their abdomens have been sewn together and are further shocked when they learn who's behind their horrifying ordeal.

Extinction Level Event Imminent......WHO CARES !!

PRAISE : DLU is part satire, part spoof of movies like Armageddon and Deep Impact, and holds up a mirror to politics in America over the past few years.
The cast is mainly great. Leonardo Dicaprio and Jennifer Lawrence portray 2 astronomers trying to warn the world of impending doom from a comet.
It was fun to see actors who mainly take on dramatic roles like Meryl Streep and Dicaprio take on something more humorous. They get great support from: Scott Mescudi, Ariana Grande, Ron Perlman, Timothee Chalamet, Tyler Perry, Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan, Cate Blanchett, and Melanie Lynskey
Perry and Blanchett(almost unrecognizable)were very funny together
Lawrence easily slips into her role with all of her signature attitude. Dicaprio stands out as a guy who has sudden fame that leads to misteps and frustrations that completely boil over.
There's some stinging political humor, and the film also points out how people are easily distracted by the latest celebrity or political scandal so much so things of vital importance are forgotten.
I was kind of shocked most of this movie worked for me and how many laughs I got out of it.

PROBLEMS : There were a couple of characters that were supposed to be funny because of their quirks but everytime they appeared on screen I found them to be annoying.
I definitely started to feel the films length around the almost 2 hour mark and it could have been trimmed a bit .

Scale of 1 to 10 a 7½

The Matrix Ressurections

Deja Vu All Over Again

PRAISE : It was fun to be immersed in the world of the Matrix Again. This time the story revolves around Mr. Anderson, aka Neo, will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. If he's learned anything, it's that choice, while an illusion, is still the only way out of -- or into -- the Matrix.
It was also fun to see "some" of the old cast again including Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity.
I was also impressed with Jada Pinkett Smith's altered role as Nobe
The new cast members Jessica Henwick as Bugs,Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Morpheus,Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the grown-up version of Sati, and Erendira Ibarra as Lexy
thankfully attack their roles with great enthusiasm.
I was glad that most of the questions I had were answered and fortunately the questions by certain characters were answered too.I also got a couple of things I would have liked to have seen in The Matrix Revolutions.
The great question of free will runs through out the film.I appreciated the new things they tried and some of the changes in the Matrix world.
The SFX and cinematography are nearly flawless and it was especially great when watching it in HDR.

PROBLEMS: There is a lack of originality in the script. Even a laziness in the writing when I felt like I was watching a refresher course of the first 3 Matrix films. They hold off on the convlusion until almost the end and when they got into it i kept putting my head down
wishing it would end.So funny how one character who started off cool became obnoxious at the end .
If they make another Matrix film I have a bad feeling that it may be lost in the land of repetitiveness. There was an added SFX in some of the fight scenes that was annoying.

Before going on, this is a very slow burn film. It is a 2 hour movie. It is not a movie to watch if you suffer extensively from Movie ADHD.

This is one of those films actors do to get them on the list for Academy and Golden Gold nominations and awards at foreign film festivals to boost their resume and recognition. The performances by all the actors are done well.

The plot is simple and easy to understand. There are some things going on that I will not go into to ruin the film. But you should pick up on them within the first hour of the film.

Benedict Cumberbatch does a ok performance as a man from Montana. He does a decent job hiding his British accent. The only issue is he doesn't look right for the role.

For the gay agenda trackers, I will recommend you not watch this film. Nothing is shown, but there are things implied if you know how to "Read Between The Lines". There is a scene with male masturbation. Nothing graphic is shown.

For the perverts, there is a scene involving incest between a mother and her teenage son. Nothing is shown, but it relates to the gay agenda narrative.

If you are an adult and can watch material made for adults, then you will understand this film. If you are an adult and watch adult films as if you are a 10 year old, do not watch this film.

Synopsis

A domineering rancher responds with mocking cruelty when his brother brings home a new wife and her son, until the unexpected comes to pass.

New film uploaded onto Netflix.

When watching the trailer, the film looks to be a horror film. It plays out more like a psychological thriller.

It is a 2hr movie that could have played out well if about 30min was taken out.

The first 15min is character introduction after that it goes directly into the suspense which really isn’t much. The jump scares they have in the film are nothing new, so don’t get excited.

About 30min of the film has unnecessary filler stuff dealing with the two teens and their drama that has nothing to do with the main story.

The last 30 minutes of the film wraps up the story. If you do watch this film, you have to watch it from beginning to last scene to get the full story. If you watch it you will understand.

For the Thirsty, the mother and daughter are a couple of cuties, especially if you into Asian women. No nudity or anything sexual is shown with them.

For the Foot Fiends, some quick decent shots of the mother, daughter and granny’s feet. No sole shots.

If you are a hardcore fan of Asian horror/thriller and must watch anything coming from them, this film is for you.

The movie is from Thailand. Netflix has it dubbed in English. Subtitles are used for signage.

Synopsis

When two siblings stumble on a strange hole in the wall of their grandparents' house, horrifying incidents reveal sinister secrets about their family.

It's weird, because it felt like three movies, because the three acts were so pronounced. The first and third acts were the interesting ones. I liked the movie, but it could have been better if they reduced the second act and developed his girls character more. It got a little dull during the second act. The Cate Blanchette last act was the stand out and like a boxing match. The ending was great and one of the best I've seen in a minute. I like how it came full circle to the point it makes you want to watch it again.

It was better than the second, but not as brilliant as the first. It details how The Kingsman started. The war aspect of it, there's something there that was more entertaining than the rest of the movie. Even the way it was filmed. I wish they would have fleshed that out and made a full movie on that instead. It was like a mini movie within a movie.

I've seen it twice so far, and will probably see it again.

Top five Marvel movie for me :dunno:

and probably the best written Marvel movie from a dialogue aspect IMO

New film recently uploaded to Netflix. If you are familiar with the classic “War of The Roses” with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, the movie is somewhat similar, to a degree.

This is a dark comedy that is heavy on physical and graphic violence. A lot more than what I expected. If you are a fan of that type of content, you will enjoy it. Be warned, do not eat while watching, a couple of scenes will lose your appetite.

I had saw the movie ran for two hours, I debated watching cuz I was like “what they gonna do for 2 hrs?” They actually fill out the time of the film perfectly.

Without giving anything away, the first 30 minutes introduces the couple and the status of their marriage. From there, the movie goes directly into the action and maintains a steady pace to the final scene. Nothing in the film is a filler, all scenes are relevant to each other.

For the Thirsty, the wife may be familiar, she is from the Alien: Covenant films and the Netflix hit “What Happened To Monday”. She looks like shit thru out the film, but there is a scene at the end with her as a brunette, dolled up and she looks Smashable.

For the gay agenda trackers, there is a attempted male rape, nothing happens but it relates to a later scene.

The film is from Norway. Netflix has it dubbed in English. Subtitles are used for on-screen graphics. If you plan on DL from somewhere with it dubbed in English, make sure it has subtitles to read the graphics and newspaper headlines. You will be thrown off if you can’t read those graphics and headlines relating to what is going on.

Synopsis

Eager to end their marriage by murdering each other, a husband and wife head to a remote cabin -- but soon find themselves facing an even bigger threat.

Watched this documentary yesterday and enjoyed it. My aunt had worked at the venue they aired it at for the VIFF (Vancouver International Film Festival) back around October. Believe they had a Q&A with some or all of the cast, and also gave out complimentary Slam magazine issues to those in attendance. It was a good trip down memory lane to the early-2000s.

Like a small budget version of the And-1 mixtape series.

Watched it on Telus' On Demand platform here in Canada as it was one of the current featured films / projects.

I'd recommend it for those who may be able to track it down online ...

Handle With Care: The Legend of the Notic Streetball Crew is a 2021 Canadian documentary film, directed by Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux and Kirk Thomas.[1] The film is a portrait of the Notic Streetball Crew, a streetball team who were active in Vancouver in the early 2000s; Schaulin-Rioux and Thomas got their start in the film industry making short documentary films and performance videos about the team.[2]

The film premiered on October 8, 2021, at the 2021 Vancouver International Film Festival,[3] where it won the award for Best British Columbia film[4] and the Audience Award for most popular film in the True North program.[5]

Freaks 2018(Netflix)

This movie was a little slow in the beginning, but its worth it to stick with it. I would highly recommend this movie. Btw there's another Netflix movie, kind of with the same name. Which I saw in 2020.

Freaks One of Us 2020

Space Sweepers (Netflix)

This was a nice Sci-Fi flick. It was campy and corny. But I thought it was good. If you have 2 and a half hours to spare. I would recommend this movie.

Zone 414 (Netflix)

Im not going to lie this movie was slow as hell to me. But I ended up liking this movie. I would recommend this movie.

Old Boy 2013(Netflix)

I saw the original version of this movie back in 2004 or 05. Only because it was part of Netflix Tokyo's shock dvd collection. And I thought it was alright. But I

liked this version way better. This movie got some wild shit in it, just like its Japanese's counterpart. But its a more tamed movie. I would recommend this movie.

Jonas Hex(Netflix)

I remember only hearing bad things about this movie. But when I watched this, I enjoyed myself. There was a few dumb ass stunts that was done in here. But other than that it was good.

The harder they fall (Netflix)

This was a solid ass movie. I plan on watching this movie again soon. ANd I plan on copping the soundtrack also.

Apocalypse Never !!

PRAISE: John Boyega is instantly likeable in this movie about
He's that everyman fighting for what he thinks is right that finds himself pulled in several directions
The rest of the cast is also highly likeable including : John Boyega as Casi · Olivia Cooke (cute as ever) as Lea · Bill Skarsgård as Dane · Ed Skrein as Craig · Linda Lavin as Cymbeline and Tim Blake Nelson as Angus Director and writer
Chase Palmer and David Matthews
combine different elements that really worked for the most part, and the tension and chemistry between the characters is great.
I actually felt for the characters and the goals they were trying to reach and there's enough suspense that made me wonder if they would actually reach their goals.

PROBLEMS: One added element to the film was a real head scratcher for me and it's this odd pre Apocalyptic atmosphere that included a countdown that never really fits or works. I kept wondering did they add this just to make the movie long enough so it could be sold as a film?
It just wasn't necessary in my opinion because it's a pretty good film without it.

Watch New Trailer for Kanye West’s ‘Jeen-Yuhs’ Documentary

Jem Asward
January 10, 2022

Netflix has dropped a new teaser trailer for its forthcoming three-part Kanye West documentary titled “Jeen-yuhs,” which it promises allows fans to “step inside the journey of Kanye West.”

Directed by Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah (a.k.a. Coodie and Chike), “Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy” is “an intimate and revealing portrait of Kanye West’s experience, showcasing both his formative days trying to break through and his life today as a global brand and artist.”

The three-part series launches Feb. 16 on Netflix, but part one will have a world premiere — virtually — at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. On Feb. 10, Iconic Events Releasing and Time Studios will debut “Act 1 (Vision)” in theaters nationwide for a one-day engagement, six days ahead of the premiere. The move echoes West’s public airings of his Grammy-nominated 2021 album “Donda,” for which he held four previews — three of them paid events in stadiums in Atlanta and Chicago.

The documentary follows West over a 20-year period — both this teaser and the trailer released in September begin with footage from 2002 — and shows behind-the-scenes footage of West as he builds his way from singer to businessman and becomes a global brand. The doc is also said to look at his failed 2020 presidential bid and the death of his mother, Donda West.

Last year, West won his first gospel Grammy and 22nd career Grammy for his “Jesus Is King” album, marking the first time since 2013 that he has received the award. “Donda” is up for five 2022 Grammys.

There was no way of promoting this movie without giving the whole thing away. Suspend belief, and just let the movie flow over you. It's a good one I really enjoy it and revisit it every few years.

As a cinephile, there was no greater benefit to living across the street from the dollar show for three years then being able to see damn near everything that came out between 2007 and January 2010

This was one of the movies I stumbled upon

Caught a couple of movies recently ... Jungleland and The Tender Bar.

Enjoyed both.

Interesting to watch the dysfunction at play in Jungleland. Very good performance from Charlie Hunnam. Good to see recognizable co-stars in it too in Majors, O'Connell & Barden. Watched Majors most recently in Lovecraft Country. O'Connell in the limited series, The North Water. And Barden in season 2 of The End of the F***ing World.

The Tender Bar has been getting a mixture of reviews lately. Good, so-so, mediocre. Thought it played out as expected, but it was enjoyable to be along for the ride. The main kid did a good job, as did Affleck. Enjoyed the narration (had that The Wonder Years feel at times). Movie's set from around 1973 - 1987 or so, if I remember correctly. Coworker saw it on their own time and enjoyed it too.

Two brothers, Walter "Lion" Kaminski, a talented former professional boxer and his brother, Stanley Kaminski, an ex-con and Lion's idealistic manager, work menial jobs in a sewing factory. At night, the pair participate in underground boxing matches, squatting in a dilapidated house in the slums of Fall River, Massachusetts with their greyhound, Ash.

Jungleland is a 2019 American drama film directed by Max Winkler and written by Theodore B. Bressman, David Branson Smith, and Winkler. The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Jack O'Connell, Jessica Barden, Jonathan Majors, John Cullum, and Nick Mullen.

It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, 2019. It was released in a limited release on November 6, 2020, followed by video on demand on November 10, 2020, by Vertical Entertainment.

*************************************

The Tender Bar is a 2021 American coming-of-age drama film directed by George Clooney from a screenplay by William Monahan. The film is an adaptation of the 2005 memoir of the same name by J. R. Moehringer, and recounts Moehringer's life growing up on Long Island. It stars Ben Affleck, Tye Sheridan, Daniel Ranieri, Lily Rabe, and Christopher Lloyd.

The film was released in a limited release on December 17, 2021, by Amazon Studios, following to the wide expansion on December 22, 2021, prior to streaming on Prime Video on January 7, 2022. It received mixed reviews from critics, though Affleck was nominated for the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance.

Really enjoyed Bad Trip as well. Very funny situations and the movie had heart too, as you could see a number of people reacting appropriately and trying to do the right thing amidst the chaos that was unfolding.

Only redeeming quality from The Voyeurs was Sydney Sweeney's sweet titties. Always worth a look. Sittin' so nicely.

Got a few movies started, and going to watch the rest of them in the coming days.

Saw the first 30 mins of The Last Matinee, and first 45 mins of Superhost.

Both were recommendations from one of the co-hosts on the Slash Film podcast. They were talking about some of their fave recent movies and the recaps of these ones caught my ear.

The Last Matinee has that darker early-90s feel to it.

Superhost ... the woman playing the "host" does a really good job of playing "unhinged", as some of the reviewers were noting. Found myself smiling a few times at her performance thus far. Mixture of fake smile, flat effect, 1000-yard stare, etc. She's a scene stealer.

I'd recommend seeing if you can track them down online.

Or for those who have the Shudder streaming service - "Superhost" should still be available on there.

With their follower count dwindling, travel vloggers Teddy and Claire pivot to creating viral content around their most recent "superhost," Rebecca, who wants more from the duo than a great review.

*****************************

The Last Matinee (Spanish: Al morir la matinée) is a 2020 Spanish-language horror film directed by Maximiliano Contenti.[2] An international co-production of Uruguay and Argentina,[3] the film stars Luciana Grasso, Ricardo Islas, Julieta Spinelli and Franco Durán. It premiered in Uruguay in September 2020.[4]

On a stormy night in Montevideo in 1993, an engineering student named Ana takes over the duties of her father, a projectionist at a declining movie theatre, due to his ill health. Unbeknownst to her, the audience watching the film that she is running are being murdered by a black-gloved killer.[3][4]
