Resident evil The final chapter

After watching this movie. I started to think I probably make a mistake buying this RE collection. I was kind of hyped to check out the last movie of these movies. And I was left with zero fulfillment.

In the beginning of the movie it takes them 10-15 minutes to fill in the blanks. From the last movie. To what's currently going on.

This movie goes by fast. One thing I hate about so called horror movies. Is that they rely on jump scares and fast cuts. And they do that alot in this movie.

I remember watching and liking the other five movies. But this movie was blah. I really wouldn't recommend watching this movie. Even if your hard core into Resident Evil. Don't waste your time.

Underworld:Blood Wars
Blu-ray

My feelings for this movie is slightly better than the Resident Evil. Only because the story is better. This had alot of the same things I didn't like in R.E.. But I'm glad this movie had a good ending. I would recommend this movie.

It's interesting.

Not sure if it's a movie to like. I think it's to provoke thought and discussion after. It's probably a movie we as guys should watch, because there's something to learn from it.

The ending throws you for a loop, because you're not sure what to feel. It probably could have been executed in a less dark way.

Not sure if it's a dark comedy, because it's not that much comedy.

I'm glad I saw it, but not sure if I'll ever want to watch it again.

Sylvie's Love

Passionate Period Piece

PRAISE : It didnt take long for me to feel like i was in the late 1950's when i began to watch Sylvie's Love.So tons of praise to Director Eugene Ashe and Cinematographer Declan Quinn. This story of boy meets girl, falling in and out of love and all of the other crazy stuff in between as we follow Robert (Nnamdi Asomugha) and Sylvie (Tessa Thompson) through it all.
Both leads give it their all and have great chemistry as they struggle with their passions and careers while a lukewarm relationship quickly heats up.
The supporting cast including Alano Miller,Ryan Michelle Bathe ,Aja Naomi King and Eva Longoria does a fine job.
I really felt for the characters as they try to find their places in the world while dealing with bigotry and hurdles thrown in their paths in life.
There is a bit of The Way We Were laced in but the film stands on it's own two feet for the most part.

PROBLEMS: The film goes down several predictable roads. At times the film feels a bit over done with it's rousing score in certain scenes coupled with 2 or 3 visuals that made me laugh.

Scale of 1-10 an 8½

I'm Your Woman

Loooonnnngggg road to revelations

PRAISE : The strengths of this movie about A woman is forced to go on the run with her baby after her husband betrays his partners in crime are definitely in the acting and when the film builds up it's suspense in scenes in which what i saw and didnt see onscreen.
Director Julia Hart uses her cast Rachel Brosnahan ,Arinzé Kene,Marsha Stephanie Blake,Bill Heck,Frankie Faison,Marceline Hugot and James McMenamin wisely..There is a quiet calm to the characters that drew men in to the story.
As the layers of what the viewer and Jean (Brosnahan) thought were her life : basically her husband is a thief and gangster there is more to tell and the way the reveals come are woven in a great way.

PROBLEMS: The pacing in this film is like watching a snail crawl a mile. This is the type of film in which you watch a character stare off into space for 2 to 4 minutes.I swear i almost fell asleep 3 times.

Good but not great

Wonder Woman 1984

Wonder Woman 1984

Waining Wonder

PRAISE: The long awaited Wonder Woman 1984 finally hits the big and small screens after being delayed due to waiting for a Summer release and the Pandemic.
At times the film pays off especially when the focus is on Diana/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine)
Any scenes that take place in Themyscira are wonderous.
Especially an epic scene filled with wonder and life which actually drew me into the film
For the most part everyone does fine with their roles
Fortunately Kristin Wiig as The Cheetah, a.k.a. Barbara Minerva, character is not as obnoxious as I thought she would be she actually looks stunning reminding me of Lyndsay Wagner at times she's reeled in and let loose just enough.
A lot of the visuals are stunning and the action sequences are well done as WW uses her lasso to well...work wonders.
There are some charming and cute moments.
There's a good message about hope and moving on and embracing life even through sadness and turmoil.

PROBLEMS: It took about an hour for me to actually feel something for the characters and like portions of the story. I couldn't fully get on board with the Max Lord character, portrayed by an over-the-top Pedro Pascal
The character was like a game show host or silly villains from a 70s or 80s Superhero show.
The basis of what he does i understood but how it plays out is a head scratcher i mean I know it can probably be explained away by some because of the use of a MacGuffin but it just didn't match up in my opinion. Plus the effect it had on a large scale was surrounded with a been there done that feel. There is so much to pick apart in the films narrative especially with what happens with Steve Trevor
Some wackiness was a bit over done .Some of the SFX were a bit choppy

Scale of 1 to 10 a 6½

The funny thing is I had the opposite reaction. I stayed awake and was able to watch Sylvie's Love in one sitting late at night. I fell asleep on Wonder Woman 84 in the middle of the day, and didn't even feel tired. That movie was unnecessarily long as hell, I fell asleep twice on it and it felt like the story still had barely advanced.

Hate this wasn't done at the movies, since it had mostly black characters as the central characters.

I liked this a lot. I'm not sure how it will go over with young kids, but it was a good movie with an excellent message for adults. One of my favorites from the year.

It was entertaining, well until the third act. I'm not sure what happen and it made the whole movie sort of pointless because it stopped in the middle for an obvious sequel.

One thing, as someone who knows and watches Tony Jaa, c'mon son. The fight scenes were unnecessary, and it wasn't even that enjoyable because they weren't believable.

Sadly I was still more entertained by this than Wonder Woman 1984. :dunno:

Great reviews as always Joneblaze...

Completely agree with these reviews of "I'm your woman" and "Sylvie's love".

I remember hearing about I'm your woman from an interview with Marsha Stephanie Blake. She said the director was inspired by "thief". Particularly what happened to Jessie and her baby. She wanted to approach a story from the perspective of what happened to the woman left behind in a typical crime story.
Since I loved thief..and damn near all crime thrillers set in the 70's and 80's I was sold.

Some Elements of the movie were good, but the pacing was way too slow in too many places.

Sylvie's choice was a great film, cinematography, story, acting pacing was well done. I was surprised by Nnamdis acting, he was better than I expected..I'm happy to see him doing well in his new career of film production and acting. He's been behind some quality projects.

If you enjoyed the original Transformers the movie from 1986 , you will thoroughly enjoy this Transformers war for Cybertron series.

They didn't use Peter Cullen for Optimus Prime, but the actor sure sounds like him. Folks do get marked, so this isn't a shoot and everyone Miss kinda show

Great story. I haven't seen season 2 yet

Checked out Unhinged the other day as I knew it would be BAD, and wanted to see what type of performance Oscar winner Russell Crowe put in (and wondered what type of paycheck he was collecting for this shitty movie).

There's no joy in seeing assorted innocent people get killed, and the ending was "yeah right" on a few different levels.

All in under an hour and a half. If you want to see something shitty, check it out ...

FATALE

VEGAS VICTIM

PRAISE: Another Fatal Atraction movie....but this time around i was actually pleasantly surprised by this story of a successful sports agent watches his perfect life slowly disappear when he discovers the sexy and mysterious woman he risked everything for is a determined police detective
The cast including :Hilary Swank,Michael Ealy,Mike Colter,Geoffrey Owens and Tyrin Turner do a fine job.
Swank is the standout with her laser focused and intense performance, actually its such an intense performance i actually laughed a few times but in a good way.
So many twists throughout i kept trying to figure out who was screwing with the main character.
So i truly admire Director Deon Taylor and Writer David Loughery doing something a bit different with such an over 30 year theme.
I loved what they did with some familiar songs in the movie.
There are actually a few good jump scares throughout the film.
Some nice nods to the original Fatal Attraction film.

PROBLEMS: Some been there done that tropes pop up.There are a couple of plot holes.Parts of the story are not tied up neatly. There's some corniness around the film's edges that i thought were completely unnecessary.

Scale of 1-10 a 7½

PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN

BROKEN PROMISES

PRAISE: Another nice surprise in this story of a woman named Cassie who has a chance to right the wrongs from the past.
The cast including : Carey Mulligan,Bo Burnham,Alison Brie,Clancy Brown,Jennifer Coolidge,Laverne Cox and Connie Britton do a great job
Mulligan is the stand out .She gives an unflinching sometimes heart breaking performance. The writing by Emerald Fennell coupled with her performance is near perfection.
I was drawn in and felt as if i was walking along with the character through her joy and disappointment's.
I wondered throughout if something would come along that would divert her from her path that she was laser focused on i actually kind of hoped something would and i feel that actually added to the strength of the film.
Taking on such a tough subject as rape but being able to add dark humor without being offensive is an admireable feat.
I loved what was done with the visuals and captions. When a film ends and you actually piece together and discuss what drove the character and why the made certain decisions you know you've watched something impressionable.

PROBLEMS : There are a couple of things that occur that i fully couldnt get on board with.
A couple of characters should have been developed more.I feel they could have fleshed out the story more even if a couple of flash backs with the characters would have happened it would have helped in my opinion.

Happened across it on one of the streaming sites. Remembered it had been reviewed previously in this thread.

Totally agree re: one letter titles. It definitely decreases your search match possibilities when you're at the end of the title alphabet with Zorro, etc.

Deserved to be on the big screen.

Lived up to a lot of people having it on their 10 of 2020

I think this is Regina King's first directing job. I'm sure we'll see her more.

It took me a while to get in to Malcolm, because of Godfather of Harlem, because that guy does a good job.
And also the guy playing Muhammad Ali, because his personality and voice were so distinct. I think it's hard to play him.

I thought Leslie Odom(Sam Cooke) and Aldis Hodge(Jim Brown) were really good.
