just watched it. Not a fan of dude's commentary, but I did like what he said staring around 12 minute mark. I do have to agree it was less meta. I mean at this point, all inside jokes about slasher flicks are pretty much outdated at this point. We are litterally at least 40 years from the slasher era.
I also agree with his points about how playing off of Sid's fear for her daughter hits different, but it works.
What was your thoughts?
I thought he was over intellectualizing this movie from all angles.
It aint THAT deep.
Scream has created a hive like anything ese in pop culture (good or Ill). And blessed to have it.
Scream is up there with Saw Final destination Conjuring Paranormal Activity Terrifier.
like ANYTHING? meta done BADLY is a mistake.
But Scream was built on meta and its more about execution to me as opposed to idea.
they F*CKED up the return of Stu. That aint meta's fault. That's bad writing and directing.
If they had leaned into the the FANS want Sidney back and HATED that she sat out?

That Her growing up. Her having a family. Her being too old for this sh*t.
Sidney mothering UP. Loving her daughter and family.

HURTS THEM.
They have to make Sidney REMEMBER why she is here for their enjoyment.
And she aint having it.
That would have been dope.

To me, they should have just left out the meta jokes. The scene where they are doing the obligatory discussion about who the killer could be was hard to watch, because it was so poorly written. It felt forced as opposed to year's past where similar discussions felt more natural to the storyline.
However, I do find it funny that the Scream series has stayed away from the one particular trope that most slasher series have utilized, the return of the "dead" killer. Hell, even the Fast and the Furious series found creative ways of bringing back dead characters.
Based on on Syd's character arc, I was expecting more of a Sarah Conner type when it came to protecting her daughter and making sure her daughter knew how to protect herself when necessary.
On another note, it didn’t make sense to me her daughter wouldn't just read Syd's book, since Syd refused to talk to her about her past trauma. I believe Syd told her to stop asking her and just read the book.

Did the fans really care about the "controversy"? It seemed more like Jewish Hollywood just wanting to punish anyone for speaking out against Israel.
Lastly, Mr. KNOW IT ALL, comes off as a pompous ass. I should have taken the hint when you mentioned not watching the whole video...lol.

This might be the most DIVISIVE of the films in the entire franchise. it seems fans either LOVE it or HATE it.
Told you that killer reveal was flat out garbage, the motive was garbage… the killer’s capabilities especially when you found out who it was basically not believable… the ai Stu shit was a waste and garbage.. it was a lot of dumb responses and unbelievable circumstances people were doing that didn’t make sense and was flat out dumb.. didn’t like it
But that box office is insane. Respect to Nieve.

Her whole character arc is nostalgia bait… her reality never existed until part 5 came and part 4 didn’t work out so they had to say the original killer had an outside daughter that nobody knew ever existed until now..this is who you are.. if part 4 was loved they may have never went that route
