Mosley: I’m doing Floyd’s ‘dirty work’ vs Pacquiao

NEW YORK (AP)—Shane Mosley believes he’s doing Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s “dirty work” by facing Manny Pacquiao, and he has no intention of losing to the popular Filipino champion.

Pacquiao and Mosley were in New York on Monday to wrap up a three-city press tour promoting their fight, which will air on pay-per-view May 7 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Fans have been clamoring the past couple years for Pacquiao to face Mayweather in what could be the richest fight in boxing history.

But Mayweather has been reluctant to face Pacquiao, and he’s now in legal trouble that could prevent the matchup from ever happening.

“I don’t know what to make of Floyd not fighting this fight. It’s mind-boggling to me,” said Mosley, who lost a lopsided decision to the unbeaten Mayweather last year. “It’s like I said on Twitter, it feels like I’m doing Floyd’s dirty work.”

Mosley thinks part of the reason Mayweather hasn’t fought Pacquiao is that he’s a southpaw, and left-handers have caused Mayweather trouble in the past.

But the bigger issue appears to be legal: Mayweather is accused of felony grand larceny, coercion and robbery from an incident last September, and also faces misdemeanor domestic battery and harassment charges.

There’s no telling how long it will take those issues to be resolved, and no guarantee Mayweather will ever step in the ring again, much less against Pacquiao.

“What I have done in boxing, I am satisfied, I’m happy, and I’m not really pushing that fight hard,” Pacquiao said Monday during an interview at The Associated Press. “If that fight happens, that’s good for me and the fans, because the fans are very eager to see that fight.

“People want to see a good fight,” he said moments later, “between me and him.”

For now, though, they’ll have to settle for one against Mosley.

Dude is scared or something. He's the better fighter, but we see he don't have the heart...at least against Pac.

Moseley may be doing Floyd's "dirty-work", but that's (boxing) a helluva way to make a living. However, it's more likely that Moseley is tryng to make some 'support' money to give to his EX. She's reputed to be a real Bitch....smart and savy. In fact, when they were married, she handled all of his business affairs (so she knows where the bodies are hidden.....figure-of-speech).

Floyd Mayweather threw-up a lot of smoke-screens. Delay, sfter delay. Demand, after demand. His out-of-the ring activities led one to believe that he wasn't too serious about taking the fight. You see, the Pac-man is one helluva of a FIGHTER..AS is FLOYD. A mirror image!, and a VERY tough fight. A fight that Moseley will regret taking. His best days are behind him...and they were some good days.

for wanting a drug test they would both have to do? Yeah I see how u phillipinoes do it, claim you are scared of needles then run out and get a tattooes , then pass up on the biggest pay check of their lives, but whats funny is that team Pac didn't want none of ffloyd till he got into trouble, so now because of his legal troubles that might prevent flloyd from fighting team pac is all for the fight.

Fighting Mosley at a catchweight after he just got demoralized is a bitch move. And would you believe this is the first black American PAC has fought?

they dont want to hear that though, but since Mosley is the only one who has anything to gain out of this he gotta bite the bullet

lmao @ Mosley how can you do someone's dirty work who beat ya ass like a rented mule. :smh: If Pac was for real he'd stop fighting shot and defeated boxers. He could fight Timothy
Bradley at 140 right now. People act like Floyd hasn't been fighting good fighters his whole career. Genaro Hernandez is a legend and Floyd went through him. Genaro would have destroyed pac the catch weight king.

Alright let's get serious here, everyone knows on this board that I'm no Floyd fan. So all of you saying Floyd made outrageous demands what were they? Drug testing up and until the fight date. THAT'S IT. Manny wanted all kinds of shit, to decide the glove sizes, ring size, venue, this lil fucker even wanted Floyd to pay something like 10 mil for every pound Floyd came over 145 or something. All Floyd wanted was complete drug testing with no cut off period. Manny's team could have had that fight a year ago, but why kill the cash cow? If Manny loses to Floyd last year - ain't no way in hell he's as big a star as he is now, fighting punching bag after punching bag, with Bob Arum taking about 35% of his dough, Manny made 22 mil for beating Margarito's bum ass. Blame Arum and Roach for Pac not fighting Floyd or Marquez - who beat him twice already and has yet to get a fair decision against duke. If Manny didn't have his nice guy phony ass attitude (let's not forget he is a politician) people would be getting down on his ass just as hard as Floyd because he pulls the same type of bullshit. Another question, if you stand to make like 50 mil on a fight, why would you deliberately tank the fight over a "fear of needles" or "blood tests make me weak" or other such bullshit excuses, VERY suspect.

If you think Genaro Hernandez would have ran through Manny Pacquiao as you so but things your fuckin Nutz..Genaro Hernandez? :smh:hell naw..Manny is gona be a problem for any fighter that doesn't flat KO his ass OR one that has the ability to box the living shit outta his ass ....otherwise it's it's gona be a long night. Manny's style will give ANY fighter or at least MOST fighters a problem..he's left handed, fast of foot, fast handed, power in either hand and DOES have one punch KO power.

I'm black

&

Before the legal issues even popped off....the Pac camp agreed to the test....then they agreed to the money. The legal stuff did not happen until months afterward, but I think the issue was something like "where" they would be fighting.

It's like this....everyone is waiting on Floyd. Pac is ready. Hell he's fought 4 fighters waiting on Floyd to make up his mind. Win or lose...Pac will fight "anyone". Blame Bob Arum whatever, but you cannot hate on the man.

They did not agree to random testing.

Correction, he's fought 4 fighters waiting for Bob Arum to decide that he's milked Manny long enough and nobody wants to see Pac rematch with Cotto or Margarito. 35% of 4 really nice paydays is a lot more than 35% of one big payday.

I think Genaro would've beaten Pac in his prime. Azumah Nelson who was a great boxer IMO would have beaten Pac too. Genaro beat Azumah. It's just an opinion I could be right I could be wrong but we'll never know because they'll never fight.

You mean most fighters they put him in against. If you notice, they all have one thing in common - they aren't boxers or they have a lil skills and decide to go to war when hit like Cotto. They don't have skills, IQ and stick to a gameplan, like Marquez and Morales did. And guess what, Morales beat him with what little he had left and Marquez boxed the shit out of homeboy - what do you think Floyd will do?
I'm not saying you're not right about Manny being very dynamic and problematic for most fighters, I'm just saying his camp has been picking the RIGHT fighters for him to look great against - no different than what people have accused Floyd of doing. And BOTH sides are guilty of cherry picking - it's business nowadays and the fans get screwed. I'm just wondering when the promoters are gonna wise up and realize they can make more money giving the people what they want. Don King ain't rich for no reason.

Genaro was a really good boxer, Azumah was a lil past his prime and a lil north of his best weight when he fought Genaro though. But Hernandez was just the type of fighter that always gave the Professor trouble. I love how people act like a fighter ain't shit just because Floyd beat them. Manny has had an unfair advantage in a lot of his big wins - he wouldn't fight Erik Morales a second time unless Erik stayed at 130, which Erik couldn't make anymore. How many of ya'll remember a skinny ass malnourished Morales practically shaking on the scales at the weigh in for the 2 rematches. And after those 2 fights, Manny did what? Moved up to 135:smh:

I can't wait until Floyd boxes the shit out this dude, and watch Manny make all his excuses like he did after Morales beat him. Dude really thought he won that fight and then complained that he didn't have his usual gloves, that a blood test made him weak, he did everything in the post fight interview except give Morales his due.

WOW!! Did you pay any attention to what happened with that at all? This was not Mayweather's fault at all. LOL!

Let's say this again.

Bottom line Pac doesn't want to take Olympic style testing. He wants that time window before the fight for one cycle.

:smh::smh::smh::smh:I never heard about that email shit.

That's because it turned out to be pure bullshit. The mysterious email that Atlas HEARD about but never saw has never surfaced and Atlas has since shut up about the whole thing. He nearly got himself and ESPN sued. I'm surprised you never heard about the email thing. It came up several times in the sports forum.

Yeah Pac fans act like because they beat DLH and Hatton worse than Floyd did makes him a better fighter. They neglect the part that Floyd fought them in better condition and a healthier weight for each. Hopefully we'll get to see this fight and I agree with you about Floyd boxing the hell out of Pac.

go check the video comments

pacquiao fans are now just discrediting teddy atlas

shit is wild out here man.

the fly shit about youtube is that it lets you study human behavior logic and mind game

once you understand that you are ahead of the game.;)

I think that when you look at the big picture regarding the negotiations as a whole from the first attempt to the last attempt, it's getting harder to just pin this fight not getting made on Pac for not taking some test. Floyd won't even admit to even the second round of negotiations existing and that in itself is just suspect. Sources from that last alleged negotiation attempt state Pac accepted Floyd's last testing demands that had been refused in the first negotiations. Floyd's only reason for the fight not coming off the second time was because he wanted to take a vacation, in his own words. Whatever. In reality, I'm just happy to see whoever is fighting the most and is more active. If I had to speculate, I would probably say the least active fighter is the one stalling the fight and that would be Money Mayweather.

Morales and Marquez, as you mentioned, were willing to face Pac multiple times. Supposedly, Mayweather is eons more skilled than those two and they both gave Pac fits (although each tasted the canvas multiple times). Why were they willing to face Pac and why won't Mayweather? Because of "power pellets"? That reason just sounds ridiculous to me. You know my opinion about southpaws. I think Mosley correctly pointed out that what probably has Mayweather wary about jumping in with Pac is the southpaw stance, something I've been saying for years.

Actually, Pac fought Hatton at Hatton's best weight where he was undefeated and a champ. Floyd agreed to fight Hatton only if Hatton would rise in weight 7 pounds to meet him at 147 as opposed to Hatton's 140. !47 was CLEARLY not Hatton's best weight. Hatton had already tried 147 before and went life and death with the bummish Luis Collazo, a fight in which Hatton was rocked several times. After that fight, Hatton said 147 was not for him and then went back to 140. He only went back to 147 to get that money against Mayweather. Mayweather should have gone down to 140 and beat his ass there.
