Mos Def (dissing rappers)Gets Tight Over A Lack Of Jena 6 Support

God Dam!!, the kid is not playing - That shit is Real - I feel what he's saying and the sad part is he's right. They should be there, because the shit is crazy.

But truth is not only does George Bush not care about black people, but Black people don't give a dam about Black people. So go figure. The fact that no body he called out was there already proves that.

But honestly...why should they be there?

Rappers are entertainers...not activists.

If an entertainer wants to or does not want to participate in activism, isnt that his or her right?

cosign^^^

even tho its fucked up that a LOT of rappers DIDNT show up, I think this is just the kick in the ass that hip hop needs...

trust me, some good will come out of this situation..

btw... WE ALL LIVE IN JENA!!!

Props to Mos Def for taking a stand and calling out cats..

Hiphop has the largest audience and needed a bigger presence. Props to the radio DJs for putting the march together.

Mos Def can't be the last real artist out there can he ? I have to agree with that man on how these rappers talk A good game but when its time to really get something done they are nowhere to be seen.

Mos has a point but to expect a rapper or whoever to feel as passionate about the situation as he does is foolish.

Most people including rappers are too selfish and ignorant to give a damn or their time for anything they think won't benefit them.

It's a choice true but God but every spirit here in a certain skin be it brown, yellow white etc we didn't choose that but we can choose to support our own and thats what MOS is spittin to all of US shit if asians whites and mexicans seemly support there own why not blacks in history its been proven all other races helped there kind with jobs money injustices but black people don't do so in alot of them cases.Mos Def has shouted out about this very thing since day 1 and hes is right if the so called ballas can't voice what chance does the common man has for these cracka ass crackas take us seriously that we as a people won't stand for this SHIT NO MORE.So basically put stand up and be counted or shut the FUCK UP and be a punk ASS mutherfucka. Now thats not a right thats a choice to be strong or weak.

I somewhat agree and disagree

Rappers want these kids to purchase their cd's

These kids need rappers to bring attention to their fight

one hand washes the other

Most of these rappers like T.I., 50, Jay-z contradict themselves, on one hand they want all of us to believe every word they spit is fact about their gangsta childhood and then say it's all entertainment when their challenge on it on how it effect our children.

All they care about is MONEY and to hell to the improvement of our PEOPLE!:hmm:

BIG UP TO THE MIGHTY MOS DEF!!!!!!

Shit if Asians whites and Mexicans seemly support their own, why not blacks?

In history, its been proven all other races helped their kind with jobs, money, and injustices, but black people don't do so in a lot of them cases.

Mos Def has shouted out about this very thing since day 1, and he's is right.

If the so called ballas can't voice (their frustration) what chance does the common man has for these cracka ass crackas take us seriously?

That we as a people won't stand for this SHIT NO MORE. So basically put stand up and be counted or shut the FUCK UP and be a punk ASS motherfucka. Now thats not a right thats a choice to be strong or weak.
There I fixed it for you. Some of it I couldn't because you didn't make sense, but please, use punctuations.

What you're missing is that a vital part of hip hop is activism. Rap was supposed to be the voice of the unheard and now it's just a corporate arm to sell shit.

Activism is missing in hip hop today, so it's good to see Mos Def and others get involved. That's what it's going to take for the new CVM to take place.

See thats the problem before Mos sit there and try to clown ninjas he should see what are they doing behind the scenes.

People get on Oprah for not mentioning the Jena 6 but Katrina for that matter but what she do, she silently provided. It could be the samething with a lot of hip hop artist they could be donating money to the cause without the fan fair.

I GREW UP WITH MOS IN BK....BED STUY....BUT DID YOU HEAR PIKESTREETS VOICE,,,I MUST BE TRIPPING OFF THESE MEDS:lol::lol::lol::hmm:

I posted on this issue before, but my question is wit tis going on and all of us needing to see diddy,50,jay,T.I not oprah because se still does not represent black America,in jena for this , them sending money would not have the same influence as physically being there, it make me sad that we as a people, not just hip hop, had a chance to show our might, a chance to stand up and be heard , here is another spin, Where the the fuck is Dr. Benjamin Chavis,Dr. Cornell west, Rev.Al Sharpton, David Banner himself, Rev Jesse Jackson . It seems like a lot of people will talk made shit on a record but now the rubber meets the road they are no shows?:smh:, We will parish as a race if we don't start supporting each other, I did not have the opportunity to go because Im a working class cat, who just cant pick up and go , no G5 or leer for me if you have the means to go , you got no excuse:(

Amen!!!!!!!!! Most of the guys are afraid to piss off their lable and have the gravy train stopped. Rap is supposed to be the voice of the disenfranchised and it was! Now it's just a hollow shell of it's self and it's only about the dollar. The bigger coon that you became, the more money you can make.

What rapper do you know that doesn't want fan fare?! Come on dude.

Sad thing is thats why he and rappers like common, talib kweli, and
dead prez dont sell da truth hurts like a motherfucker, nobody dont wont to come to grips with there own problems , we dont wont to come to grips with our own problems. Niggas and I mean niggas, would rather "crank that soldier boy" right,I cant knock lil homie hustle but mainstream music lacks content now for the most part, you will get a better turn out of support(than for the Jena Six) from a party in the hamptons, hosted by diddy, in which most of us middle to upper middle class guys and girls will never get to , Im happy regardless, we are on a pathway for destruction as a race if shit dont change, I think but thats just one cats opinion i could be wrong , but what if Im right?:(

Look at the songs most of them put out, he expected more?

I also suspect there was a lack of particpation from rappers like Common, dead prez, Chuck D and Talib etc. etc. due to scheduling conflicts with touring.
