MMA HEADS - UFC 151 CANCELLED. Hendo hurt. Jones refuses to fight replacement

Jones was a rising star and Sonnen isn't.SIMPLE!

but Jones benefited from taking a fight on short notice and he could benefit from this fight as well.

Although Sonnen isnt a legit contender, as a fan who has no vested interest in Jones, Sonnen or Dana's pocketbook; it seemed like an easy fight for Jones and check.

one of the key factors that has helped UFC gain so much popularity is that Dana and company make fights happen. Boxing has suffered with so many independent parties going for self.

i can understand where Jones is coming from but a little disappointed.

Dana White sounded like a complete bitch on that conference call all because Greg Jackson didn't want Jon Jones to do what Dana wanted. Another moment of unprofessionalism on White's part. And all that jocking of Chael Sonnen was ridiculous as well. Most fights Sonnen is over 200 lbs by the time the bell rings so it wasn't like he was going to do something crazy and fight a guy with a huge size advantage. Sonnen wanted the fight cause he had nothing to lose and this is probably the only way he will get a Light Heavy title shot.

lmaooooooooo @ you dudes

jon jones said he would never let chael talk his way into a title shot and thats exactly what he did....he shut that shit down and decided to fight a much better opponent

what has chael done(besides talk) to earn such a honor?

thats disrespectful to all of the light heavies who are trying to their best to get their shot

i respect a man who doesnt take the easy way out and respects the arts

bitch ass Dana can be mad as he wants....but he isnt getting in the ring...
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Even Dana White laughed at the thought of Sonnen fighting Jones just recently.

All of a sudden, he is willing to ruin the integrity of MMA for the sake of money and let Sonnen fight Jones...C'mon...
And i remember Dana laughing in response to the question about Sonnen fighting JBJ. Dana is a fucking clown.

Just listened to interview... Dana is a true piece of shit and the Sonnen dick sucking is disgusting. And he's too fucking stupid to realize his own gross hypocrisy. In consecutive sentences he goes from saying he wouldnt let Sonnen talk his way into a title shot to saying how he gave Sonnen a shot because he answered the phone and how he's the biggest shit talker in the history of the sport.

Chael trolls again. As I suspected they knew about the injury a while ago. Which explains why Sonnon (Henderson's teammate) suddenly started trolling Jones on twitter to jump in line. 8 days my ass..:smh:

http://www.fightersonlymag.com/content/news/17008-hendersons-coach-reveals-how-injury-was-sustained

“Dan Henderson got hurt three weeks ago during sparring when he went to defend a takedown and for a while he has to be away from training, for two to three weeks. It was very difficult for him to refuse the fight. All the team had to convince him not to do it,” Woirin says.

“We did a final sparring yesterday to evaluate his condition and he really didn't have the chance to fight with Jones. It is so depressing for everybody. Many things are involved in a high-level fight like this one, but unfortunately, this happened.

what would've happened if Shogun refused to fight him when Rashad was hurt.
not a good a look for a champ.

he aint have much to gain fighting Sonnen other than a check and win.
Apples and oranges. Jones benefited Rua, because he was an even bigger draw than Rashad would have been at the time. Rua was coming off some devastating wins and felt confident he had the edge against a young lion, whose thunder he could steal. It just happened to not pan out that way. Also Jones was a legit contender at 205, who'd earned a nod in the octagon with a flawless record (except a bogus DQ loss for 12 o'clock elbows, I think). Chael Sonnen is a humiliated loud mouth with ZERO wins at 205. Jones wasn't just being a company guy when he fought Rua. There had been talks of either him or Rashad fighting for the strap for months before Rashad got injured. There's no comparison between the two situations.

He would have picked Sonnen apart. His game is his wrestling and no one has been able to put Jones on his back. Sonnen is a good wrestler but I couldnt see him taking down Jones especially since he's comming up to 205 to fight.

It was virtually a win for Jones but he did a bitch move.

A lot of people were probably traveling to see that fight and have wasted money on flights and hotels. Other fighters on the card will also not get paid and the UFC is going to loose millions all because he didn't want to take the fight.

Im through with Jones!!!

Because Jones has never been on his back and Sonnen's loud mouth can bring in as much, if not more money than Hendo on ppv. I just don't see how this could hurt Jones. Nobody has come close to beating him and he is already in fighting shape so why not...although I do like the fact that he pretty much told Dana to go fuck himself and didn't take that whatever Dana wants approach that some of these guys do. I would just like to know the guys that turned the fight down. They must be already financially stable, because the best pay you are going to get, not being a champ, is to save a ppv on short notice.

I think it a smart move by Jones, while I aint hatin on dana, I understand where both are coming from

danas job is to make money first and foremost while building mma fan base.

what fans think mean so much in his decisin making, unfortunately to many of the vocal fans are racist pricks

who really cry in the car when their great hope loses.. lol

Jones is like I am the man right now, why fuck it up like that boxer amir..?

so basically Jones is bypassing sonnen to fight Machida...

Dana needs to look at quality and not quantity, Machida has way more chance of a classic fight than sonnen...

and sonnen cant talk his way into everything he is good, but not good enough to worth losing your shine over...

losing to sonnen is an embarassment, losing to machida isnt

and right now Jones is doing neither

pretty much. and yeah, i know it's cool to be like "yeah fuck dana, stick it to him Bones" but looking at it from his perspective this is a dude who JUST came off a DUI arrest & the promotion vouched for him, saying that he's young & he just made a mistake, and then the FIRST opportunity that he gets to step up he says "nah, i'm good"? plus he shyts on the dudes in the lockerroom by not accepting a fight that he has been training for? the champ doesn't pick opponents, you take on all comers. add to that he basically lost the lockerroom with this move, never mind the fans or the promotion. finally, if the whole point was to put his foot down and "keep sonnen from talking his way into a title shot" i will bet whatever anyone wants to bet that jones WILL fight sonnen within 12 months now because sonnen is now gonna poke him every chance he gets & look like the hero doing it

If Jones accepts a fight with Sonnen on 8 days notice..cool. But its pure non-sense that it should be expected of him. Stop it.

Seriously how can you guys blame Jones. He trained for Hendo, now he's just supposed to accept whoever Dana throws in front of him? Doesn't being the champ come with any perks any more? FUCK THAT!

Dana is full of shit becuase just a few days ago he was saying that Chael didn't deserve a shot at the title and there was no way he was going to get it.

Here is Dana's direct quote.
"He's a long way away. He's not coming off the (Anderson) Silva fight and just talking his way into a 205-pound world title shot. [Sonnen] is going to have to beat a couple of the best in the world. If he beats Forrest Griffin, we'll shoot him right into the top five and let him fight some of those guys there, and we'll see what happens."

So what the fuck happened that he all of a sudden deserved a title shot.

Oh yeah Machida refused to take the fight on short notice. So he grabbed the biggest cash cow he could and thought Jones was just supposed to be like yas sir, I'll fight whoever you want.

What about the dudes that really deserve a title shot. That's why there needs to be clear rankings in MMA because right now they are just making things up as they go along.

:yes::yes::yes:

Jon Jones laments loss of UFC 151 but stands behind decision to turn down replacement

Entire Article : http://mmajunkie.com/news/30352/jon-jones-laments-loss-of-ufc-151-but-stands-behind-decision-to-turn-down-replacement.mma

Highlights:
Jones said he didn't feel like what ultimately boiled down to just a few days was near enough time to prepare for such a drastic change – especially with the majority of his coaching staff committed to spending most of fight week in the Philippines to corner Andrei Arlovski at ONE FC 5.

"Chael is completely different fighter," Jones said. "This is war. This is strategy. You have to go in there prepared and know that you did your homework. I wouldn't be the same warrior if I just jumped in there blindly and was cutting weight while I was trying to prepare for the fight.

"Greg Jackson wasn't going to show up until Friday. Coach (Mike) Winkeljohn wasn't going to be there until Wednesday or Thursday. I would have been pretty much on my own trying to prepare for a new opponent. That's just not the best way to prepare."

Thankfully for Jones, the public sentiment is turning towards Jones and against Dana. Peep the comments section of the article.

Luckily Dana loves to run his mouth too much. All that emotional bitching and bullshit led to it as well. Apparently if he didn't just rush to cancel the PPV, Silva was willing to fight at lhw with someone...
http://www.mmafighting.com/2012/8/24/3264668/anderson-silva-offered-to-save-ufc-151

I'm sure Mr. Jones had a good reason for turning down the fight. I don't think sonnen is worthy of a title fight. Becouse of his appeal and mouth the fight would have sold.

I for one would love to see Jones destroy Sonen. But fuck Dana. he will fuck anyone without giving to fuck when it comes to best interest of his organization. It is up to Jones to protect his. Fuck Dana once again. Jones, call the shots when you're still on top, coz when you're not Dana will fuck you over. Fuck Dana thrice

this.

Wow, NONE of this was mentioned yesterday. TOTAL bitchmove by Dana. Jones alone in a gym, preparing for a fight [with the dude who just fought for a title] while cutting weight? Dana has to learn the hard way that those fighters are not his personal action figure toys for him to do with whatever his wishes. Fuck him. It's not Jones fault this card was too lame to [no real co-main event] to withstand a last minute switch. What if both fighters had gotten injured. Then what? Dana's an idiot and a piece of shit.
Jones vs. Belfort to Headline UFC 152 After Lyoto Machida Turns Down Title Shot

http://www.mmafighting.com/2012/8/2...adline-ufc-152-after-lyoto-machida-turns-down

Will Dana throw machida under the bus after his 1 month refusal??
Wow  Dana's an idiot and a retarded piece of shit! He could have had Silva, but balked??? :smh:

:hmm:
Because he’s ducking Weidman and willing to fight a 205er that is afraid of Bones? Screw Silva. He deserves to be ridiculed same as Bones. Defend ur fucking title or relinquish it.
Are these crackas just out of their minds? Silva's "ducking" Weidman to FIGHT GSP!!! Since when is opting to fight one of the other 2 top ranked P4P fighters in the world instead of some up and coming nobody -- who's gassed up after beating Mark Munoz -- considered DUCKING??? :dunno:
