43,000 people died in car crashes, and untold milions got hurt badly in other type of crashes. A hybrid still puts a huge metal block engine in the front and no crumple zone.
If you are driving around with your family to soccer practice, I would want to be in an EV. You don't want to be trapped in your car unable to open your door with your legs crushed needing to be cut out. There is going to be all kinds of flamable fluid just waiting to ignite.
