Mission Impossible real opening....( 26 Million )...again is tom`s career over ?

DiCaprio was always an actor first, movie star second. He came out of the gates with "...Gilbert Grape" and "Basketball Diaries." Tom Cruise hasn't managed to show that kind of depth yet, and he's damn near 50.

So I guess u have never seen "born on the 4th of july" huh. Tom Cruise does have range as an actor, but blockbusters have bigger budgets which means bigger pay for the actor. As an actor u go where the money is.

Yours Truly.....Professor .

Worldwide its already made 161 million in two weeks And will probably finish out at 300 million. So STFU already. People in his own Country may not like him but the rest of the world sure seems too.

On a black board I would think that feeling would ring home.

This ain't gonna hurt Tom's career but this is a very low opening for a franchise type movie with a built-in audience, although this was a big shopping weekend which probably impacted box office.

Advertsing is not included as well as the fact that movie theaters take 50% of the gross.

It will still be profitable though once you throw in DVD sales, PPV, etc..

The 1st installment waz the best of the trilogy!

I remember scenes dialogues et cetera from it!

For instance one between Jon Voight n Tom Cruise!

They were in a London restaurant when Voight told Cruise

"Why you actin' like you the shit? I showed them to you"

Such an incredible memorable unforgettable scene :smh:

Then the 2nd followed by the 3rd which was all blowin' shit up!

He's returned for more! He must be on to something now!

cosign 1st one was really good. The 2nd one was pure garbage. The scene where Tom killed the bad guy:smh:
Bad guy was behind Tom with a gun pointed at his back, Tom kicks a gun out of the sand, gun flies in the air, he dives at the gun, catches it, twist in air, turns around and shoots bad guy. GTFOH.
If you ain't strapped and I am behind you with a gun, you are good as dead. Aint no way you picking up a gun from the ground, turn around and shoot me

I'm one for the good dialog, not the Michael Bay-esque bullshit dialog with little to no substance and then blow some shit up. he first one is my favorite. The ones after that were more action, less dialog and more unbelievable over-hyped crap.

the other link in case u missed it....

:D

With a budget of over $150m, it's still not exactly a huge hit so they're probably hoping for it to do big numbers overseas.
His career isn't over but it's on the downhill side.

He just needs to stop doing blockbuster movies & focus on real dramas or real movies that people want to see like inception

He needs to take notes from leo

Tom is still stuck in the 90's making huge blockbuster movies
Unless there robots nobody wants to see them

He can't because he's not as good an actor as Leo or Brad Pitt. He's Janet Jackson to their Mariah Carey: either of them could fall off but come back because they're extraordinary talents while he's good at his thing and that's it.

The feedback I've heard is positive, as are the bulk of the written reviews.

Saw it 2 days ago. Good movie, entertaining. Paula Patton looked ok, she doesn't do it for me too much. Good date movie.

^^^ she for damn sure isn't ugly...but her face looks a little tough, like it's got 1 too many muscles in it...

Tom Cruise is still winning.all his movies in the past few years have grossed 100 million easily...he will never go broke

I don't know where you got your numbers, but they are way off, or you are just counting Friday and Saturday. Christmas weekend is Friday to Monday, and that makes it $46.2 million, not 26. Counting the early release it's $78.6 million. Here's Box Office Mojo's numbers current as of 12/29

Domestic: $94,643,000 34.5%
+ Foreign: $179,980,744 65.5%
= Worldwide: $274,623,744

Once again, it's a success. No matter how you try to spin it...

Mission Impossible is about to get rebooted without Tom so I think the numbers are ok

Tom is a good to great actor - like Will Smith he could do more small movies that shows his acting chops but I think they are both into their personal brands that they are afraid to veer to far away from it

Great Roles

Taps
Rain Man
Born on the 4th of July
A Few Good Men
The Firm
Magnolia
Vanilla Sky
Collateral

I am torn about Valkyrie or Lions for Lambs but it still a good enuff list to show his chops

Yeah..bgol caused me to hit boxoffice mojo as well. I predict 425,000 worldwide. That's not bad with a 145 million budget and producer credits. Tom Cruise is doing his thing and knows his bread and butter.

Those were some damn good films. Cruise is a great actor.

lol some of you have no clue about movies. by the way, the first post is completely wrong.

its already made 70plus in the US, not including other countries.

"Studio estimates Sunday placed Cruise's "Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol" a solid No. 1 with $26.5 million domestically over its first weekend in full release. The movie raised its total to $59 million since it started a week earlier in huge-screen cinemas and expanded nationwide last Wednesday, and distributor Paramount estimated that revenues will reach $72.7 million by Monday."

"As of Friday, "Ghost Protocol" also had brought in a healthy $118 million overseas."

All I can guess - we love to see a fail. We love to call a muthafucka out for fucking up a large amount of money.:smh:

That movie was dope. Well written, good action & effects, AND they broke a lot of the predictable storyline and plot elements you see in movies these days.

Oh and the cameos were unexpected, but gratifying. One of the best movies I've seen this year. Period.

I hope it continues to do well.

The movie was pretty good, but it seemed too long

I felt exhausted watching the movie, which is rare with me and action movies.

I don't listen to BGOL on movies at all. Most cats on here can't even direct their own life right but then try to talk shit about a movie that's making bank. Broke ass, wish they were Tom Cruise ass niggas bitching all in this thread.
