Women know a lot of their perceived "worth" comes from their looks, especially when in your 20-40s. After that, a woman is no longer seen as sexy, attractive, etc. by mass media. It has only been a more recent trend of having movies with older female love interests, but society doesn't place much value on a woman as she gets older. While young, many women want to capitalize on this and will enhance themselves to appear more youthful or create bountiful assets where they done exist. Not saying it's right or wrong, but it is what it is.

I don't know if Instagram personally pays them, but when they have hundreds of thousands of followers that make them much more credible to attract clients. I heard a rumor that a lot of the top notch female Instagram hoes be getting flew out to places like Dubai and them dudes spend crazy money on them.
