1. Third all-time free throws made (passing Oscar Robertson)

With 288 free throws, Kobe moves past the Big O and behind Moses and Karl Malone in the free throws made department. Last year, he made 381 in 58 games.

2. All-time steals leader in Lakers' history (needs two to pass Magic Johnson)

Barring a fluke, Kobe should notch this within the first week of the season. This isn't the last time he's looking to pass Magic in a category.

3. Most All-NBA First Teams (11, with Karl Marlone)

This record is arguably hardest to reach, considering -- or assuming -- Dwyane Wade comes back injury-free. With new weapons in Steve Nash and Dwight Howard at his side, his load will be lower, thus standing a chance to decrease his statistical output.

4. Most All-NBA Teams (15, with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar)

This record, on the other hand, is a virtual cinch. If Kobe is healthy this season, it's impossible to identify six guards better who can keep him from tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

5. Most All-NBA Defensive First Teams (10, passing MJ, Gary Payton and Kevin Garnett)

Another tough milestone to reach. Kobe still gets after it defensively and with upgraded defensive personnel behind him (read: Howard, Dwight), he can be as aggressive on the perimeter as ever.

6. Most All-NBA Defensive Teams (13, with Tim Duncan)

Even if Kobe struggles guarding quicker players, his grit and I.Q. alone makes this milestone his for the taking.

7. More than 30,000 career points (youngest to reach mark)

Wilt Chamberlain reached the 30,000 point plateau when he was 35 years old. Kobe just turned 34 and needs just over 500 points.

8. Move into fourth all-time in scoring, passing Wilt Chamberlain

All Kobe needs is a "mere" 1,936 points. If Kobe averages at least 25 ppg, he'll reach this toward the end of the season.

9. Most playoff points, passing Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar)

Kobe currently sits at 5,640 playoff points, 347 away from MJ and 122 from Kareem. He'll need a deep playoff run to take top spot (conference finals, Finals).

10. Pass Magic Johnson, tie Michael Jordan with six rings

The record, as far as hoop purists are concerned. From the moment the Black Mamba stepped into the league, this number (six) sticks out as the benchmark. Kobe is not unaware of this.

LEGENDARY

I root for Kobe, but he's been robbing players out of those All-Defensive Team honors for years.

He's robbed:
2011-2012 - Iggy, Marion
2010-2011 - Allen for 1st Team, Deng, G.Hill, Rondo potentially for 2nd team
2009-2010 - Thabo, Artest, Wade
2008-2009 - should have been 2nd team, Battier and Artest were both better.
2007-2008 - Arguably Battier should have been 1st team
2006-2007 - The best class of perimeter defenders in recent memory: Bowen, Marion, Battier, Artest, Tayshaun.

I wish defense got more recognition. Top tier offensive players will always overshadow top tier defensive players when it comes to awarding defensive awards. :smh:

Can't say HE robbed anyone, he didn't give himself those awards... You could say that about anyone on these 'all time' categories. Anyway, with all the Kobe hate going around, he's winding down on one of the greatest careers ever and it's been a pleasure watching him grow from a Junior at Lower Marion HS to the player he became in the League! He is definitely the greatest Laker, to play AS A LAKER!!! First ballot Hall of Famer, and one of the Top 10 All Time IMO...

Marion, Prince, Ron, Hill, Deng and Battier are all forwards

That's Lebron's spot and has nothing to do with Kobe.

still have to wonder...those 2 retirements for MJ....

how many more rings ...how far out of reach some of those records would`ve been....

shit even the other MJ...magic...if aids didnt force his early retirement how many of those lakers records would`ve been out of reach...

what i find funny about these "Kobe and LBJ are the youngest to do this and that" threads is the fact that both of them didnt step one foot in college. If I came out of high school and was instantly a starter in the NBA then I would be the youngest to do many things as well..

With that being stated...Fuck Kobe's accomplishments!!!
Be original.......you copy cat ass ninja!!

This is so true. I always remember when Josh Smith came in 2nd place to Dwight Howard for defensive player of the year, but Lebron made it over Josh Smith on the All Defensive team. That was the dumbest shit ever.

I think the two are rewarded differently. One by the coaches, the other by select media folks.
