Mike Jones Explains Why the Attention Left Houston in 2005

J Prince is a gift & curse.

i had to go find this shyt, i remember he said it. 13:38 j prince says "we had to run New Yorkers out of this town, the dj's"

i feel the same thing happened this last time when Houston was hot...Prince playing hardball, convincing the artist to ride with him in the end he's still winning and they never made the nationwide money they could've made..more importantly they didn't get the chance to open all the doors they could have. Prince said New Yorkers weren't respecting them...he probably felt the same way in 05 with all the outsiders coming to H-town to see the new trend. Prince was probably sitting back like

i think these boys done out worn they welcome.

In your opinion

But in many others opinions mine included those dudes are legends

Texas always did our own thing and supported our own in the underground

Can't tell these dudes nothing. They keep bringing up Atlanta when that city single handedly destroyed Hip Hop. Destroyed it to the state it's in now.

Damn no Keke?

Don't Mess with Texas or whatever it was called is a classic. I was just throwing names off the head. I had a brain freeze due to how many names I was posting.

I guess Killer Mike, TIP, Luda, Outkast, and Jeezy are from Portland Oregon?

Outkast came out in the freaking 90s bruh. Early 90s at that. :hmm:
Also Jeezy isn't even from fucking Atlanta that nigga from Macon some hick ass town.

No Lil Troy??? That Wanna be a Balla carried TX into the 2000s

Yeah his few songs were classics. Didn't he do a lot of stuff behind the scenes?

Also how could I freaking forget Trae the Truth! Dude been around a long time and has a good following.

Also Devin the Dude is another name that is known but unknown.

Texas go hard!

:hmm: I didn't say one thing negative about Houston. So are you trying to shift shit now so the Houston supporters a gang up with you?

Mike Jones gets very little respect in Houston. The Mike Jones/Paul Wall movement was all for the radio and lil kids. Wasnt any real niggas riding around bumping that in they ride. Same with Kirko Bangz today.

Real Houston niggas respect = Scarface, Devin the Dude, Zro, Bun B. all signed to Rap A Lot & JPrince (it is what it is)

So yes! JPrince has a lot of control in the Houston rap game

and the statement about DJ Screw and SUC is what was real in da H.

aye Houston where is this dirt bag anyways? who was the snitch him or Face? he got clout out there?

:hmm: I didn't say one thing negative about Houston. So are you trying to shift shit now so the Houston supporters a gang up with you?

nga u trying to get them to gang with u. go outside and start cleaning up your community nga.

that goes back to J Prince, who else was feeding them all that shyt.

that's like me owning a supercenter, 5 of u ngz want to have your own supercenters. white man wants to loan y'all the cheese but he'll get 65% of your profit. Here i am telling y'all don't do it, don't do it. The white man decides he's leaving and he's taking his deal with him...5 years later i still got my supercenter and y'all still work at my lil neighborhood convenience stores...yeah your getting money but damn it's not what u could've been making. All because i was telling u, naw u suppose to get 50%, all of us have to stick together, fk that everybody better stick together....at the end of the day...i'm the nga with the supercenter and most of u ngz still working for me at my lil convenience stores. I been drinking, that's probably not a good analogy...but i think j prince was in everybody's ear, the majors weren't fkn with prince, so they left. I think later in that same Documentary or it could've been the other 1, J prince is tripping like all Houston artist better show up to his ranch. its when they took this picture.

BigTexas.jpg

i'm just not so sure j prince even wanted the Industry in Houston.

Big Moe
Big Pokey
Z Ro
Flip
Lil O
Slim Thug
From Slim Thugs camp J Dawg...dude has good music but will never go big
Big Mike
ESG
UGK...They have never gone platinum and are some of the biggest names in the industry
Ya'll probably have never heard of South Park Mexican. Dude was running the Mexican rap scene in Houston till get got locked up for fucking lil girls.

Damn no Keke?

No Lil Troy??? That Wanna be a Balla carried TX into the 2000s

Add Fat Pat & Trae as well.

Only nigga in a minute that has carved a place for himself north of the Red River. Been down with local cats since before Captain Jack got a curl, but the product coming out of H-Town been on some bullshit since Face left for ATL. Like my dude said earlier, can Houston niggas talk about shit besides candy paint?

But at least cats didn't start dancin' with each other... Dallas-ass niggas, I swear.

Houston is the only city in the south that collectively was putting out decent artist & music in the 2000s.

Mannie Fresh - helped to make the sound everyone and I mean everyone has copied go world wide (Triggaman and Brown are the OG)...

/Thread

A lot of people don't know but Bad Boy south was supposed to center around Houston instead of ATL but J. Prince wanted too big of a cut so Puff shifted to ATL.

Don't forget after Katrina, CMR was tryna relocate to H-Town...Wayne enrolled @ UH & everything, then word is they got that call.

Slim woulda been the biggest! Where Mac at tho homie? & you forgot Dizzy in the "new bloods" category.

Atlanta is not the south The Pimp has clarified this for everybody!! When you step of the plane in Atlanta do you have to adjust your watch???

More consistent than ATL or Miami? I mean cats on this board act like Paul Wall, Slim Thugg, Lil Flip and Mike Jones were lyrical beasts. They had some nice beats but thats it. Mike Jones and Slim Thug arent even good rappers. Paul Wall and Flip are debatable

Honestly, I'd put Wall and Flip in the same category as Jones and Slim Thug. None of those dudes are good lyricists. I just liked their beats.

What killed MOST rap music is fool saying their own damn name every 2 seconds. Too Short got away with it for a while, but after the "Mike Joooooones" shit popped off and other rappers started doing it from Houston, it was a wrap. :smh:

Why they take Hawk mayne?!???? :(

Fucked up shit man and i don't care what anyone says The S.U.C could hold their own with anyone of these rappers past & present. I remember the the 1st verse i ever memorized word for word was Fat Pat's verse on 25 lighters:dance::dance::dance:

Don't forget after Katrina, CMR was tryna relocate to H-Town...Wayne enrolled @ UH & everything, then word is they got that call.

damn, i'd luv to hear the real story on what happened when master p kidnapped pimp c. what was really said between p and j prince....

Contributing? Sheeeeiiiit, not a damn thing but the permission to operate in his neck of the woods. Bruh, there is a reason J. Prince has been around longer than ALL these "bosses" in the game and virtually nobody goes at dude. Think about it, all these cats like P, Baby, Diddy, Suge, Irv Gotti, etc. have all had all kinds of beef and people come at them. J. been around longer than all of them and nobody speaks out on him despite numerous stories of him strong armin' cats. That alone should tell you all you need to know. Nothing going down in Houston w/o J. Prince cosigning.

I wouldn't doubt it.

well that's why i feel prince didn't want the industry in Houston, it would bring too many other heavy weights in and he felt he'd go down. Unlike the other guys u mentioned prince never seemed to want to get that big...he knows what happens when u get too big. When suge and irv came from behind the scenes that's when their trouble started.

for prince to have all that power for so long...i still think he's a plant.

Atl < Houston

chicago < Atlanta

Dude aint no need in explaining, because they would be mad when they find out that some Texas rappers made more money than their favorite rapper when talking about album sales. The only advantage other rapper had is major companies pushing their projects.

Niggaz get jokes when their feelings get hurt.
I don't listen to Trick Trick and icp ain't from the D homey.
Royce, Elzhi, Black Milk, Em, and honorary Dayton Family. That list is crushing your whole city lyrically. I also listen to cats from NY, and Philly and some West Coast cats.

Agree with this list. lol
