Mighty Mouse saved a runaway slave RACIST ASS CARTOON

Have Any of you watched the movie Bamboozled? Watch it, then study the subject matter. Do that with a lot of the movies that are coming out now, you sould learn something. It's hidden in plain sight.

I don't know about Disney fam...

Walt was a known Anti-Semite

*two cents*

You sure about that?

The internet is loaded with these cartoons from the 40s through the early 50s. All the companies produced them. Some call them race cartoons. I call them propaganda cartoons because the message was clear.

What's sad about this is the same theme is used today its just more subtle and its no longer in cartoons for kids.

I legit came in here up in arms saying "what the fuck did MissMighty do?"

But yeah, racism has been big money in the US for centuries. I keep wondering if that "Coolest Monkey..." sweater would've raised any eyebrows 50, fuck it 30 years ago? Some people are trying to play it off now like it's petty, but we have to press the button on every slight and offense; if we want that shit to stop.

Its nothing to learn if your folk raised you right gave u confidence and gave u paper. Im shocked yall take showers cause the waters clear not brown.

Not surprised.

Kinda hurt though cause this was the Saturday thing with my daddy when I was little.

Don't feel hurt those cartoons predated WWII. Many were also used as propaganda cartoons. But I understand, as a child I watched Mighty Mouse too. But I remember nothing like this and had that aired on our TV. I never would've seen Mighty Mouse had that happened. Also every cartoon character rose up and survived that era. Warner Brothers, Popeye, Associated Artist, Terry Toons and Walt Disney.

However I believe this is the worst one I've seen.

I agree.
I doesn't take away the time we spent. I remember what we did more so than what we saw. But it's...a meh feeling nonetheless.

When I was little I used to see a few of the racist cartoons like the ones from Bugs Bunny then they stopped showing them. The only ones I really remember with clarity are the Tom and Jerry ones with the "Get owt! O-W-T, owt!". I always wondered what was wrong with that lady because I knew how to spell 'out'. It didn't really register as racist the first time I saw it cause I thought the white lady was my five year old's mind equivalent of a pussy cause she was helpless. I remember thinking not all women was this helpless and I didn't want to be like her.

So no, I'm not surprised. I'm sure there are some more hidden ones that are really bad. And what I'm about to say probably won't be that popular:

I'm done with it.
This was made, it's done, leave it that way. At this point it's a teaching tool, but nothing else. Even if it was to re-run on air in the spirit of discrimination, I would think we as a people are at a place to rebuke this evil in society. I'm not surprised but I'm not going to loose sleep over it either.

One of many..
Exactly....hunnids more....why even post this trash ....like we don't know what the cacs wee up to in the twenties and other decades....waste of board space enticing anger ?????:hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm:

Just understand there exist a similar underlying narrative that is still being implemented, its very subtle. Its not in today's cartoons but in movies, and TV shows.

Regardless of how powerful or smart the main (non-white) character is, seems they always have to touch base with someone white either to guide them or to save them.

Look at Hidden Figures NASA's astronauts receive all this training but can't get off the ground. That is until these black woman and their advance knowledge of math worked out the formulas to ensure safe takeoffs and returns. Heroines yes but not so fast. Who made it possible for them to achieve? The white sheriff who helped them on the road? Or maybe Kevin Kostner the white man in charge. Fighting off racist within the workroom. No matter the role its always back to the same old way of thinking.

Jim Crow, Fats, Deacon, Dopey, and Specks are a flock of five crows from Disney's 1941 film, Dumbo

None of the crows' names were given in the film, though their names can be seen on model sheets by the animators. In the original novel, an owl named Professor Hoot was the one that taught Dumbo how to fly.
    • In the original novel, an owl named Professor Hoot was the one that taught Dumbo how to fly.

  • Jim's name was changed to "Dandy Crow" in later years in attempt to avoid controversy. However, the name never caught on, and thus "Jim" remained as is.
    • Dumbo is often criticized as racist for the inclusion of the black crows as African-American caricatures; specifically the naming of Jim, which is a reference to the infamous Jim Crow Laws. However, some critics, pundits and personalities reject these criticisms, noting that the majority of the crows are portrayed by African Anerican actors (with the exception of Cliff Edwards), and that they are some of the few characters who are sympathetic towards Dumbo.
    • When accepting her Disney Legends award in 2017, Whoopi Goldberg expressed her desire to see the crows appear on more merchandise by Disney.

These all predated your youth and if not for the internet they would never be seen. But this is the racist type crap whites produce to elevate themselves. So that child you sat down at the TV grows up believing this shit. But I do remember not only racist cartoons but weekly programs where black people were anything but the equal of their white counterparts.

Considering who my mom is though, I got over this quick, LOL.

I remember watching a lot of stuff growing up giving side eye. That's just how I was raised...white people are not your friends. We can watch white movies and tv, but you have to remember, it's something to do cause it was not made for you. That was the other side of childhood.

Considering it all, and the love that Black Panther has gotten, I wonder if someone should not do a special - but just run thirty minutes of all this racist shit. See what happens. Stir the conversation. Not to promote the thinking, but to promote the education of it all.

Your people were indeed wise. There's so many out here that are straight up clueless, its incredible and scary.
