This. I was going to correct him myself, and specifically mention LBJ, but sometimes I think I come off as a "school marm" by correcting posts too much.

Pretty much all Ronnie did was ride in on the work previous conservatives had done for him.

One minor correction though: the "Dixiecrats" started even earlier at the 1948 Democratic National Convention when Hubert Humphrey vocally supported a Civil Rights platform.

Yes. But that was a short-lived faction. I specifically mentioned the party switch, not the origins, because that's when essentially the two parties became what we know them as now.

Actually no!

Historically, this was a portmanteau blending "Reagan" and "Democrats" (similar to terms like Dixiecrats). It was used to describe traditional, conservative Southern Democrats who crossed party lines to vote for or support Republican President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s.

The Southern Shift: For generations, the South was a stronghold for the Democratic Party (often called the "Solid South"). In the 1980s, millions of white working-class and conservative Southern voters shifted their allegiance to Reagan due to his platform of social conservatism, tax cuts, and strong national defense.

I have no idea where you're getting this information but it is wrong.

I’m not sure if anyone is paying attention or even noticed what the outcome of these Midterm elections have done.

And the Corporate News Media is not going to bring it up.

When it comes to POTUS elections, the Electoral College is what counts.

For the past 30+ years. The argument has been get rid of the Electoral College cuz it was a remnant of Slavery times giving the Slave states more power.

The other argument was that POTUS elections always came down to 7 swing states…

- Arizona
- Georgia
- Michigan
- Nevada
- North Carolina
- Pennsylvania
- Wisconsin

People in other states got disgruntled thinking their vote didn’t matter cuz all focus was on the ‘Swing States’.

This argument was highly reinforced by anti-Electoral College people when they saw the 2024 POTUS map results showing Red as the primary color.

The 2026 Midterms has the Democratic Party taking

- Georgia
- Michigan
- North Carolina

Final results are not in yet for..

- Arizona
- Nevada
- Pennsylvania
- Wisconsin

NV, PA and WI are looking like the Democratic Party will win.

The big surprise is Texas turning into a ‘Purple’ state.

The point I’m making is if Democrats can win NV, PA, WI and maintain control of Texas.

The narrative of ‘Swing States’ that we have been accustomed too no longer exists, because Texas has 40 Electoral Votes.

With Texas, Democratic POTUS Candidates can easily get over 300 Electoral Votes every election. 277 is all that is needed.

The GOP figured out decades ago that understanding and controlling the Electoral College was the primary key to their success over the past 30+ years…while the Democratic Party was spending their time with their ‘They Go Low, We Go High’ BS.

If the Democratic Party stays focused, put money into these states they have ignored over the past 30+ years.

They can become the Majority Party for at least 50+ years.

That’s more than enough time to reverse Reaganomics, Bush family policies and the chaos Trump has done too this country.

The only way that can happen is if the Democratic Electorate demands it.

We will wait and see how the next two years play out…
