Microsoft realizes that they fucked up since Windows CE mobile platform died out in 2006-07. Though microsoft was first to the tablet game, their offering was for a niche market with cumbersome interface and short battery life.

One thing I know about Microsoft, they rarely get it right the first time, but by the second and third time, they dominate the market. With windows phone 8 and this tablet, I think Microsoft is going to be a big problem for Apple and Google

We all got opinions but I definitely don't think they'll dominate the phone industry at all.

ReZound.

At this price, and with people looking ahead to Christmas, they will sell out QUICK! I'm going to try and get my hands on two.

I really don't believe it, but if this is true, I already had plans for the Pro, but now it looks like I will get the RT as well!

Pretty much can say good night to Android tablets. Apple fans will still buy Apple.

Android Tablets are going to be crushed by this Microsoft tablet.

I wouldn't say all Android tablets, but a lot of them. I think ASUS, has done a great job with their Android tablet efforts. Samsung, you would think was the clear cut all around Android king, but ASUS, actually has the best tablet on that platform. I still recommend ASUS for a tablet on that platform.

Now the ASUS Taichi, is also a beast with some pretty good specs. ASUS, may have lost in the phone dept, but damn, they are really the silent killer in the tablet dept.

^^^^not to mention, Asus is quicker with updates than any other non GED Google device.

I'm trippin, cause the Kindle Fire, pretty much had slaughtered the Android market, plus their eco-system pretty much doesn't really need Google Play or any other marketplace.

When they put the Haswell in the Surface Pro...

We will have our first portable microsoft 360 console

Of course the problem with android is FTP for many devices. AMD processors are okay but they run hot but the Intel i series is crazy. Now if they put an i3 processor, and win8 pro, where is the downside? That's a fucking beast. Let's face it: ipad is a toy for playing games and watching movies and shit. Serious techs will love the surface. Only waiting to see what battery life is.

lmao @ people thinking this will kill android

keep dreaming

theyre too far behind in the apps department therefore this will be another product that sits on the shelves until theyre going for $99

its android and ios....no one else are competitors

get that through yall skulls

Windows has every app that android has. There is nothing that you can't get on android that is not available in the windows marketplace. The number of apps will not be a problem. The reality is that out of those thousands of app only a few are must have. All the must have are in the windows marketplace place.

Plus with the pro version you can say bye to apps because it runs a full desktop Os.

Android tablets have not been great. Tech wise who would buy an under powered android tablet over a Surface that is priced at 199? Who would buy android tablet over a Surface pro that runs a full desktop Os?

dude shut up..windows does not have every app android has...theyre not even close

besides who would buy a tablet if youre looking for desktop experience?

thats what laptops are for and you can get one that does whatever the pro can do for a far cheaper price

tablets are about apps and windows doesnt have that many

this shit will be in a fire sale soon

If you are talking about the total number of apps, than no windows marketplace does not have the number of apps android has and you would be correct. If you are referring to the apps that people actually use (popular ones) than windows market place has all of those apps.

You dont think Apple heads are not waiting on Apple to unify their OS? Being able to run OSX would be a plus for ipad users. Microsoft is the first company to unify their OS. Being able to run photoshop and other programs on your tablet is great.

Again keep up with the times. Windows market place has every app that is on your Android now.
