A lawmaker in North Carolina has filed legislation to lure Disney to relocate its resort complex from Florida to his own state, reported The Daily Beast on Wednesday — sending a shot at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

"A legislator from the Tar Heel State has filed a measure that would allow Disney to shift its operations out of Florida, saying in a release that 'North Carolina is a great place to do business,' according to WGHP," reported A.J. MacDougall. "The bill introduced by state Sen. Michael Garrett (D), appropriately called the 'Mickey’s Freedom Restoration Act,' seeks $750,000 to explore the possibility of luring Disney across state lines."

"In an apparent swipe at DeSantis, Garrett added, 'Politicians who put their state’s economy at risk to boost their own selfish political ambitions are a liability,'" the report continued. "He said he would 'welcome The Walt Disney Company and all other businesses seeking refuge from the culture war madness currently gripping the great state of Florida.'"

Living in Orlando/Central Florida for twelve years, I can definitely speak on nothing being more miserable than going to Disney World in the middle of summer. Fuck it. I hope they move it just to spite FL/DeKlantis
A part of me wants Disney to leave so they can teach DeSantis a lesson but Central Florida would turn into a fucking swamp if this was to happen. Also with the climate change that is happening around the state they really need Disney World to stay there as long as they can. Florida Republicans put the state in a very bad position. Oh and hurricane season is coming up.

Fuck it. I want Disney to leave. Make the state pay for its fuckery.

The one thing for sure is that The Mouse holds all the cards. They can stay and wait out death sentence - because the way he's acting he may be gone sooner than later; plus voters are getting fed up with the reichpublicans in general - or they can leave and take all that cabbage with them.

Let them leave.... who gives two fucks about Florida anymore..... they got enough other activities to sustain them.... all the fools there would be able to thank that idiot for that.... but I ain't so sure about NC either .... it ain't no fucking Shangri Lai either... but it's a tad bit better :dunno:

Never going to happen. The time, effort, and COST are what makes this a no go.
I agree with you, but there is an elephant in the room and that is climate change. If it gets too bad, they will up and leave immediately. Hurricane Ian and the Fort Lauderdale flooding a glimpse into the near future on how Florida is going to look.

It won't happen overnight but Disney is a multi billion dollar company whose GDP rivals that of some nations. With enough tax incentives from NC, and the ongoing fuckery from Florida, I definitely can see it happening in the next ten years.

I wouldn't be so sure. The Mouse is printing money. All they have to do is send out survey teams to explore viable sites and I think you'll see Florida panic like lyndsey graham. Maybe death sentence would bluster and rail in public but he knows all those voters who would lose jobs would remember that shit next election.

The sky can't fall fast enough for you can it? Chicken little.

That’s a lot of tourist money gone over night.. the cost of living will definitely rise in North Carolina.. more hotels needed more opportunities for air bnb
If this was to happen, they have to put the park in western North Carolina. They cannot put it in eastern North Carolina because of pending climate changes.

North Carolina isn't the place to go to avoid hurricanes lol

I hear what you guys are saying, but. It's not easy to pick up and move 50+ miles worth of one's shit to another state. I don't think you grasp the magnitude of Disney's footprint in Orlando and surrounding areas. I'm speaking from the perspective of an individual that has knowledge of the innerworkings. My company has been one of many Disney subcontractors for the better part of 25 years. Trust when I tell you, that these folks aren't going anywhere. In fact, there are several multi-million-dollar expansion projects that just received RCID permitting and the green light from Iger himself. But, what do I know. :dunno:

Charlotte area would be perfect.

It would be way cheaper for Disney to back a Disney friendly successor to Desantis rather than move to another state.

This is mainly just Desantis being an attention whore trying to get to the white house.

Florida is going to Florida....

If Disney moves from Orlando that motherfucking city will look like Alantic City and the boardwalk DESOLATE,so they can fuck around and find out if they want to.

Move the Carolina's will be a better location anyways and they can downsize and revamp things like add new rides and shit

This is the problem with being a genius! You're never surprised, you already know what's going to happen!
Until the Royal line dies out....that is such a fcuk you move. Like you will NEVER get this shyt back!!!!

Is it safe to say they're gonna be moving to Georgia or maybe even a Carolina? The amount of unemployment that will hit that state would be STAGGERING!!! And then to leave him holding that bag of high unemployment, of a whole ass city that basically can't be used, the tourism money that is now gone. Would be the equivalent of dine and dashing at Sublimotion, but leaving your date to take care of the bill!!! "I'mma go to the bathroom real quick can you tell the waiter to bring the check?"

NC has the same super majority republican senate trying to do basically the same shit FL is doing and if you ever been to Disney world you know theres no way in hell they would move all that shit it’s like saying you’re going to move a medium sized city to another state

Because the gerrymandered the hell out of the state is actually more democrats there than Republicans.

Best believe that all that is being figured into the equation... the mouse isn't just thinking about this week and next week..... they're looking ten to fifteen years into the future.... and DeSantis is throwing a lotta bags of shit onto the scale.... if there wasn't climate change, hurricanes and flooding it would be a different story
