Dem AKAs treateds YOU bad? But you be lightskinneded??But you finna have dem AKAs come and call you ig'nant and misinformded cause you had a different 'xperience and it be reflectin badly on day group. Jus' fair warnings.
The part dat be in bold be very important, why NOW, when it be almos a lock dat she gonna be de Missus Pres-o-dent? Nuttin mo' dan a publicity stunt, which be makins me shake my head even mo'.
Was it because I was with my dark skinned friend?
Was it because her body type did not fit the AKA stereotype?
All I know is that I try not to feed into the bullshit and stereotypes, (I can go on about OTHER organizations all of whom have members dear to me), until I can experience it for myself but...blunt,
it's no big secret that aka's at one point required fair skin as a prerequesite for membership. goto any historically black college and ask to see the sorority's photo albums of past alumni going back into the beginning....
...I have personally seen an AKA gathering, (not sure if it was the regional or the national), but the women looked as though they were aged anywhere between 80 to 27 and I was hard pressed to find one person who was Michelle Obama's color. Now I know some today that are, but from a historical viewpoint- that's what I saw.
The hype has been on Barack to run for a while, when you consider the word coming from his position as a senator and the hype he got on Colbert Report. I wish someone could find that mag cover because I don't think I was pregnant at the time, (which would have put it 05-06 range), so I know Michelle can hold her own by herself. Which again brings me back to my original question...but it's all good. I won't lie though the AKA Barbie looks pretty. If proceeds go to charity I wouldn't mind buying one for my friend. Wonder if they will put out one for ***?
But you finna have dem AKAs come and call you ig'nant and misinformded cause you had a different 'xperience and it be reflectin badly on day group. Jus' fair warnings.

I agree.
