Michael Vick Is A Real Quarterback

2002, the ONLY year vick had a complete tutoring by dan reeves:

passing yds 2,936
rushing yds 777
quarterback rating people always hollering about = 81.6
total touchdowns running and throwing = 24
interceptions 8

thats almost 4,000 yards PRODUCTION coming from your quarterback.
the stats speak for themselves. vick was gonna change the game at quarterback forever and the white folks didnt like that. wouldnt have been no more peyton mannings because vick was proving you could put a athlete at quarterback, like they have ALWAYS DONE IN HIGHSCHOOL AND COLLEGE, with a arm and take over the quarterback position. the little white boys wouldnt have that position SAVED for them no more and the big contract that goes with it. i examine the whole picture of whats going on and that NOTHING has changed since this:

told yall it was a setup

Vick needs to head to WHEREVER Dan Reeves is at right now. I don't even care if he's a Falcon anymore, I guarantee you he can still burn any QB in the league right now....

Michael Vick was an exceptionally talented athlete/quarterback.

Good luck finding enough Vicks to faze out all the "Peyton Mannings" of the league.

i remember when dominique wilkins first came into the league. they said " all he can do is dunk". then, when shaq came into the league, even though the only thing he could do was dunk, he was put on the alltime best 50 players list after just a few years of dunking. the message: its not what u can do, its how WE feel about you. tim tebow is superman doing LESS than vick. at the end of the day, its about moving the sticks, if vick can move the sticks with his arm and LEGS, that makes him a quarterback. niggas kill me when they defend white superiority, whether consciously or not.

if it makes you feel better tebow wont do shit in the NFL either that is the real reason why he stayed in school.

If the JETS can give a fuckin' fraud like Brett Farve a year they can give the Great Mike Vick at least three.

And yes N!66@S I said GREAT!

Exactly

just like the NBA...changing rules to give whites a chance.

It's marketing so I don't knock it. The country is majority white.

You've got to be kidding!!!!! :smh:

(What is up with this ongoing, unrequited black male love affair with such a mediocre, underachieving player?)

Everything you claim Mike Vick did that year, McNabb and other (non-#1 overall) black QBs have done 10x better.

you dont have to look any further than the word "black"

Running QB's can't work long term in the NFL because they will get killed. You forget Vick was starting to stay injured.

Running some? Ok. Running as your main threat? Get the stretcher ready.

Also, I hate to break it to you guys, Vick wasn't that great his last couple years in the league.

Teams just started containing him in the pocket and spying on him. I'm convinced ninjas had Vick on their Madden teams and thought that was real life.

nah, what it was is this in a nutshell: vick fucked himself up by not backing dan reeves. reeves was MAKING VICK be a quarterback. reeves is a discplinarian and lots of players dont like that, but reeves get results, which is WHY dallas brought reeves in a couple weeks ago (reeves left over contract differences). anyway, when atlanta hired mora and greg knapp, they let vick do what he wanted to do and didnt work on his fundamentals or his ability to read coverages. they ran a simple stretch option play with vick and defenses knew that shit was coming and started staying home and tackling vick instead of going for the fake and honing in on warrick dunn. i KNOW football. reeves himself was pointing out how vick lost his basic footwork. reeves FIRED his longtime quarterbacks coach himself for not working on vick's fundamentals after vick threw for 2,936 yards, so that lets you know right there that reeves KNEW vick could produce more yardage from the pocket. when people say atlanta's receivers improved under matt ryan, its true, but the reason wasnt because vick couldnt be a pocket quarterback, the reason is vick was being allowed to roam and freelance and run those options instead of making him sit in the pocket. when vick DID throw the ball, there was no timing between him and the receivers for that reason. vick's dropback was too fast because thats how he plays. reeves would slow vick's dropback and FORCE him to sit in the pocket. to maximize vick's running ability from a pocket perspective, reeves would ROLL THE POCKET, allowing vick to see running lanes from the context of still being in the pocket and looking downfield. this ALL comes back to coaching. coaches DEVELOP players.

Damn impressive analysis and I approve this message

and Greg Knapp is the WORSE off. cord. the NFL has ever seen... When I realized he was in Oakland it all made sense.. Now Mora put him on in Seattle, good look Seahawk fans!!!

You left one thing out and that was they also rolled the pocket so he could have passing lanes as well. Short qb's have to roll out of the pocket to get passing lanes. When he stayed in the pocket he always went to his tight end and teams knew it and started taking that away from him.

thats true, thats true. rolling the pocket enabled lots of things to open up. another reason reeves rolled the pocket is because vick, like elway, had the gun to be able to stop and throw BACK across the field, DEEEEEP back across the field. most offensive coordinators dont like to roll the pocket because it shortens the field for a quarterback who can't throw back across, AND, it brings the safety over. the safety is thinking there is no way im getting beat deep across, until vick or elway drilled one behind them and they have to slow down and play it straight up.

TRUE revisionist history. You are speaking on things you don't know about, reciting shit you heard on talk radio, getting your timelines wrong. Go do some research.

Vick had one major injury his 3rd year in the league. He had a couple of times where he missed one game after that. All the haters who used to claim Vick was "always injured" had actually disappeared.

As far as containing Vick, his last two seasons started exactly the same. Unstoppable. Midway through the year, they figured it out, started shutting down the team. For that (and some stupid radio interview) Jim Mora and Greg Knapp were fired. Essentially, Greg Knapp is Jim Mora's albatross. Runs a weak, predictable, inflexible offense that was both incompatible with Michael Vick's style, yet used his skill to look dazzling

I like Jim Mora, didn't like how he was fired, but after he got the job in Seattle, he hired Greg Knapp. And that was when I knew Mora would never make it as a head coach. 1-2 years in Seattle, then he's back to D-Coordinator.

Wait.. wasn't Vick the first opposing quarterback to ever beat Green Bay in Green Bay in January? In the history of the NFL? So wouldn't that blow your whole assessment? So you're really co-signing because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about?

Mike Vick Stats

Passing Stats

Year Team G Comp ATT PCT YDS. AVG TD LNG INT RAT
2005 ATL 15 214 387 55.3 2412 6.2 15 58 13 73.1
2006 ATL 16 204 388 52.6 2474 6.4 20 55 13 75.7

So basically he was average to below average as a passer. Never completed mre than 56% of his passes, only averaged 6.4 yards per completion. Now he did run the ball well especially in 2005 but he also had lots of naggign injuries that affected his performance.

Face it. Vick is not that big of a dude. If he kept getting hit while running, it would be :itsawrap:

Wait.. wasn't Vick the first opposing quarterback to ever beat Green Bay in Green Bay in January? In the history of the NFL? So wouldn't that blow your whole assessment? So you're really co-signing because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about?

Yeah he was the game he got shook in the cold was the Philly championship game.

No, Vick was not gonna change the QB position forever. Simply because he is a singular talent. How many Vicks can one find? And for goodness sakes lets not compare HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE BALL to the NFL.

Vick is a real QB. Im unsure what the OP is trying to say was "done" to Vick. The best attributes a QB can have is reading the Ds and throwing from the pocket. Vick could have been very good at both Im sure, given time, effort and proper coaching, but lets not EVER make the mistake of thinking that Vick should be THE prototypical QB.
