Slave ports are part of history and used as learning tools, landmarks, and historical reference of real life events and atrocities. Confederate statues were post civil rights terrorism tactics used in southern states to intimidate innocent black citizens and dissuade them from seeking basic human rights.

Hene = Ruler and literally means itchy. Back in the olden days towns were founded by brave men who would go into the deep forest to clear the way. And aside from encountering wild animals your body would itch owing to the plants encountered, so these people were “itching” for progress and success for the nation.

Akwamuhene= Ruler of Akwamu

To be an Ɔhene means you are a now called “Nana” or the “enlightened one,” it’s a title one earns through life. Some are named after a Nana hence it being in our birth name, but living up to the name or earning it is the goal.

Bruh White, didn’t specify the type of Rulership title he was bestowed with, but we have ceremonial/honorary titles for people that do great work. For instance, if you came to Akwamu and built a hospital for the people, the Akwamuhene may give you the title “Nkosuohene” or the Ruler of Development.

Since he found a connection with the Akwamu, possibly in kind gesture, the Akwamuhene gave him a Rulership title so that he has a high status within the community.
