These are CONTROLLED studies, meaning that you control for all other relevant factors and data!

Did you peruse the very article you linked to? I'll post this again:
"For example, immigrant blacks are more likely than U.S.-born blacks to have a college degree or to be married." In other words, selective immigration. Statistically, they're not starting off "behind" us. As a group, they're starting off ahead.
Why are you cool comparing educated black immigrants to the entire Black American population? Why not at least compare them to the educated "Talented Tenth" Black American population?
