McGrady Denies Ever Playing Kobe One-On-One In Germany

Kobe and the Lakers were desperate for a title . . greed and desperation can make mofos rebuild burned bridges!

You really think those titles couldn't come without Phil?

I can't say for sure they would have but I'd love to know what the last quarter century of basketball would've looked like if Jackson weren't coaching... How many rings for Jordan, Shaq, Kobe?

I don't think the hindsight of winning after re-hiring him justifies the re-hire.

He basically said that the franchise's best player (or, inarguably, the franchise's best player post-"Last Season") has anger issues which make him a likely rapist.

Intentionally wrote a book about it. Not "said some shit he shouldn't have under the greatest pressure he ever faced in his life." Wrote a book. Marinated on that shit, sent it to the editor, published it and cashed in.

How can he be your coach with Kobe Bryant as the face of the franchise? He can't be.

“'You’re not going to believe this,' he said, telling me about the murder of Jordan's father. Was I surprised? Yes, but not entirely. Michael can be consumed with his competitiveness, which fuels his gambling addiction and puts those closest to him at risk.”

Would that be acceptable? Or reckless and irresponsible?

Would winning three more championships make it any more acceptable? Sometimes wrong is just wrong, results be damned.

“I was at a motel in Williston, North Dakota, when the call came from Mitch. “You’re not going to believe this,” he said, telling me about Kobe and the rape allegations in Colorado. Was I surprised? Yes, but not entirely. Kobe can be consumed with surprising anger, which he’s displayed toward me and toward his teammates.”

Damn... How is Kobe still scorned for his Shaq comments and Phil gets an absolute 100% complete pass for this shit?

I don't care who the coach is, the Lakers were foolish, disloyal and just plain wrong to re-hire him after "The Last Season."
Wait a got dam minute. So Phil insinuated that based on Tobes temper tantrum ways that it was somewhat conceivable that he went apeshit and raped a bitch in Colorado?

I've never seen that quote before. Wow man. Just wow.

Anybody that really studies the way these dudes play, and has really paid attention to McGrady, knows that in his prime...with his mind right..he could pretty much fuck over Kobe and the rest of the guys from around that time.

Yep... Also I think Kobe is lying dude is not the type of cat to save this story for when T-Mac is retired he would of been telling this shit all the Time when T-Mac was in the league to come off as superior.

Re: McGrady Denies Ever Playing tobe One-On-One In Germany

:lol::lol::lol:

Kobe's the type of dude that thrives off of making sure you're DONE!!
On some shit that it's incomprehensible. The equivalent of dropping C4 on a corpse just to make sure he's not moving and then cremating the leftovers. Ruthless.

I think he used McGrady on purpose because people used to say McGrady was better than him

Re: McGrady Denies Ever Playing tobe One-On-One In Germany

damn son. its friday night, you aint got no ass lined up? You in here having a conversation about kobe by yourself. we get the point dude. kobes a liar and the worse to ever step on the court. why do you care so much? what do you gain from all this? When he gives his HOF speach are you going to crash the joint and object?

Dude, these people can say what the fuck they want, something is seriously wrong with a few of these guys.

It's one thing not to like the way someone approaches the game, but these cats are on some whole other level I can't even understand.

They show up in every Kobe thread trying to discredit any positive comment like this shit ultimately matters.

Who the FUCK does that shit?

You all can overlook this shit 'cause you don't particularly care for Kobe yourself, but we have some sick people amongst us. You may think this is all about basketball...

...but these dudes have psychological problems.

Phil has a weird relationship with Kobe. He sometimes would offer grand praises and then would say some shit that makes you think he really despises Kobe. I know Phil plays games....but I dont think we will really know until Kobe retires and maybe Phil writes another book.

and still LOL at Kobe throwing a ball at Phil's fucked up foot!! LOLOLOLOLOL

Kobe:
"If I'm not the best ever, I don't know who the fuck is. All my teammates were either haters or incompetent. My fuckin' coach was even hatin'. Who else had to deal with this shit? Jordan? Naw."

"Kobe Says If He Didn’t Play With Shaq, He’d Have More MVPs & Numbers Would Be Ridiculous"

"Because I played with Shaq. It’s that simple. A lot of the time we cancelled each other out. I sacrificed a lot playing with him. I really did. I did it for the success of the team. If I never played with him, my numbers would have been ridiculous."

"When was the last time you watched Michael Jordan tapes?

Wow, it’s been a while. Probably not since 1999. I used to watch a bunch, but that was a long time ago."

"What was it like dropping 33 on him as a 19-year-old in your second year?

I wasn’t scared or nervous back then when I played Jordan. He looked at me like he was going to f--- me up but I had to let him know that I wasn’t that guy. I let him know that I’m not like all those other guys he played against. That’s not what I was there for. I was there to compete and I did. "

i'm sure he saying a lot of other stuff, i haven't read the entire interview yet.

And this is from a guy who got paid more than anyone in the history of the sport (and maybe all of sports) to be a leader.

Kobe & Shaq contributed on the court. Their contributions were unquestionable and mostly quantifiable. What did Phil do? Bring Tex Winter with him? Based on his own book, he clearly was not an effective leader, manager or counselor. He was just in the right places at the right time.

The Jordan legacy immunized him from criticism but he was as dramatic a player in the Hollywood soap opera as anyone. And being the only player with no discernible talent or skill, writing a tell-all book with such vindictiveness should disqualify him from stepping into the locker room again, certainly that locker room.

But Kobe & Shaq will always have their failures magnified while the "zen master" and his role in the chaos is never even mentioned. Twenty years from now people will still speak of how Kobe snitched under police interrogation and what Shaq said in a rap but Jackson escapes criticism for freely gossiping to the world in a book.

It's amazing that Kobe could play for him again and ludicrous that the Lakers re-hired him (and almost re-hired him again!).

Just had a chance to read the interview...

Kobe's definitely a liar. Says he has never googled himself. I can't believe that.

Biggest highlight of the article was the part about 1-on-1 games, which he claims to have never lost. I believe that before that he has never ever googled himself.

white people don't live by the "no snitching" rules that hip hop try's to enforce (and often doesn't even live up to).

if tonight, God returned Kobe and Shaq to their prime's, gave them the option to play together or go elsewhere, unfortunately i think both of those Negroes would pick to go elsewhere. I know a lot of people have hinted to the fact phil possibly instigated some shyt....but, let's be real...its like the bgol idiots who believe Andy Reid purposely destroyed the man who he begged to get, the man who he helped get a 100 mil contract (vick). Or the bgol idiots who believe the Shanahans are purposely destroying rg4..For what? for they can not win a championship or lose their job's and make it harder for them to get another job paying what their getting now?

phil hasn't instigated all the shaq/kobe beef since they played together...are we going to blame phil for the dwight howard/shaq beef or the Dwight Howard/Kobe beef?

not beefing, i'm just saying....some ngz just can't get along and wont get along for long. You can tell 2 ngz, u guys can make 500 mil together in the next 5 years and ngz will still want to do it their way. shaq and Kobe both felt they could do it and be better without each other and based on interviews they still feel that way. i've always been on kobe's side with his shaq beef because i know shaq's a hater. ron harper, fisher and horry have said (not in a way where they were dissing shaq...but shyt they said things i picked up on)....shaq use to pick on kobe because he didn't want to hang with them at strip clubs, shaq use to pick on kobe because of the way he talked, shaq picked on kobe after watching a tv show (can't rembember the name) but kobe was in China (i think) touring. Shaq made jokes about kobe marrying a girl aspiring to be a video chick.......kobe wasn't a brother in shaq's eyes, he was some spoiled brat or something. so assuming kobe got tired of all of shaq's bs especially when kobe's game grew. now after dissing dwight and several other players the world see's that shaq isn't the big Aristotle he's the big hater. can't blame it on phil...shaq wanted to be the king and Kobe felt like he deserved more credit.

I google MYSELF!

You think a dude with endless websites, forum posts, and articles written about them don't google themselves?

Shit, I'll bet Kobe knows who cranrab is.

Either he is lying, or simply neglected to mention he's partial to Yahoo or Bing.

Now, we haven't heard any word from the other guys he claimed he beat in 1 ON 1. Maybe they don't feel the need to get into it. Maybe he's telling the truth.

I know he's lying about having never lost. I read a LONG article about Kobe from about five years ago where they said every time a two guard would Kobe to team - e.g. Isaiah Rider; Mitch Richmond - he'd want to play them one on one to assert his alpha status. Basically, 'This is my starting job, and this is why, bitch.'

They also said that, if you did a move that embarrassed Kobe in one on one, he'd block people from getting to the showers/lockerroom until they got back out on the court and did the move again.

I'm not surprised that he lied. You'd be surprised - or maybe not - that a lot of the most driven people are very insecure people. It's just that their insecurity, unlike w/ mother other folks, is like diesel fuel. Also, I've noticed that those people tend to climb so high because they set pretty 'impossible' goals for themselves, and by doing so, they landed in a place where everyone else thought impressive...

...but they came up short, in their own minds. So, they have to embellish or just outright lie to project the image of themselves that they WISH to be true.

Everyone who knew Kobe well knew his goal was to be, unquestionably, the GOAT. That didn't turn out well, so his ego is making him lay shit on kind of thick. Even Michael Jordan expresses uncertainty at times, and the general consensus is he's the GOAT.

whats funny about this is that in the age of the internet, statements like this cant fly under the radar.

There is no way that word wouldnt have reached back to Tmac so if this isnt true then I am not sure why he would even bring it up.

KOBE PROBABLY SENT THIS COMMERCIAL TO T-MAC AFTER HE WHIPPED HIS ASS

He did speak up.

He said they never played 1 on 1. He said they had never been to Germany together.

SOME reporter will get to the bottom of this. How hard can it be to find out, if nothing else, if T-Mac and Kobe went to Germany together for promotional work?

T-Mac said they never went together.

If it can be proven they did go together, that almost guarantees he lied about the rest.

If it can be proven they didn't go to Germany together, that definitely guarantees Kobe was lying.

This is weird. He could have made his points without bringing up Tmac's name so part of me sorta believes him because otherwise that is some nutso stuff

Soo Kobe says they played in his Addidas days right?

If memory serves, was'nt T-Mac stuck on the bench in Toronto when Kobe was already an All-Star. Nahh not unbelievable

Re: McGrady Denies Ever Playing tobe One-On-One In Germany

This is weird. He could have made his points without bringing up Tmac's name

but then he wouldn't get any revenge for adidas giving tracy mcgrady the lifetime contract (over him) and for having the highest selling shoe in the US (at the time)

Interestingly, T-Mac is the ONLY player on Kobe's list to come pout and say Kobe lied. Interesting, indeed.

That's why I don't entirely dismiss Kobe's 1-on-1 claim. It would be so easily discredited by, say, Rick Fox or whoever was around him. It's a risky lie if it is a lie.

Very valid points.

Yeah.

He's referring to the story about Kobe working out with the Sixers while in HS. It was first said Kobe was giving it to Stackhouse something serious. That sounded suspicious...

...because, prodigy or not, a 16 year-old kid, whose not even 200lbs dripping wet, no matter how talented, is going to bedestroying a player of Stackhouse caliber at that time.

Since the story first broke, it has been modified. I heard Rick Mahorn and John Lucas speak on it. If their stories are to be believed, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Kobe did a lot better against Stackhouse than expected...

...but it wasn't lopsided like it was originally reported.

Oh, so Kobe was 16? Well, scaning the article, the exact quote is "I’ve never lost." Never extends to when he was 16... :dunno:

Stackhouse isn't saying much. On one hand, he says Kobe "did win a game." On the other, he said it "wasn't like he was just pounding me every day," which makes it sound either a lot more even or like evidence of incredible modesty on Stackhouse's part.

You have links to Mahorn or Lucas on it?

I'm cracking up just glancing over this interview again-- "Well, now you know.":lol::lol:

Dude, Kobe will openly admit to his father beating him 1 on 1 repeatedly until he was age 14. He's even admitted to his older cousin, who played ball overseas, beating him religiously when he was growing up.

Keep in mind, this IS Kobe, he's a narcissist, so there is going to be some exaggeration, or completely omission of facts that doesn't support the image he's trying to portray of himself.

However, if I had to take a guess, I would imagine he meant after he turned pro - or at some point after he turned pro - he 'never' lost.

Maybe.

I do know that Matt Barnes said that 'Kobe never loses' in a video. Not that Barnes is the ultimate authority, but he said it pretty emphatically. So, that lends SOME credibility.

As for Mahorn and Lucas ...

...that was years ago. I would imagine it wouldn't be impossible to find, but these were articles written earlier on in his career. I THINK I found the articles using "Deep Web". You come up with all kind of interesting stuff that way.
