Mayweather should not fight Maidana again, he should move on

There are peoplw who want to see arrogant, braggadocios mayweather get beat but I think there are more people who want to see him truly tested. People hated Ali for his conceited antics but they respect his skill. But the fights that really cemented his legend as a boxer were Frazier and Foreman because he was evenly matched with Joe and the underdog with George.

The maidana fight in retrospect was sloppy and foul filled with low blows and arm locks and rabbit punches and its a shame that his strategy consisted of going hard at him early just to lose steam in the end. But you can't say it wasn't exciting to watch mayweather read and adjust. I agree with article that the OP posted that maidana doesn't deserved a rematch if his strategy is going to be like that.

he aint gonna be truly tested because no one is as good or disciplined as him, plain and simple. give it up, people. Nothing wrong with being the best.

There is NO money in fighting Porter. He should fight the winner of Martinez/Cotto. (If Cotto can get out of his TR deal)

Pacquiao likes fighting Mayweather's leftovers so he'll fight Maidana before Floyd.

Yea, but there's a science and control to shit. It's a business before it's a sport, or entertainment. The sport itself, and all of its players (especially superstars) are controlled. Ask Diego Corrales, Vernon Forrest, Arturo Gatti and Paul Williams. Hell, ask Mike and Floyd about their stints in prison. Ask De La Hoya about the crossdressing pictures. You get spanked, or even killed, either way you move as they want you to. The entire boxing industry is well aware of the impact Floyd's retirement will have on it. So this is like the last hoorah. Everything is strategic now. Maidana will probably beat Pacquiao, so then he has another loss, and his worth epically diminishes again. The stage has already been set for rematches and hype. If Floyd would've destroyed Maidana in the first fight, no one would want to see them in the ring again. The only thing that makes it desirable for fans is the misconception that he could possibly beat Floyd.

Right now, Floyd's legacy is boxing. So it must be protected at all costs. Why do you think the two times he's technically been down were not counted? In boxing if you're hit and you start falling, but break that fall by touching the mat with your glove, you are down and due for a standing 8 count. This happened in both the Judah and Mosley fights. Referees have more control over the fight than you know. They can choose, especially after instruction, what to and what not to call. Always look for the earpiece before a fight when you wanna know if there will be some shenanigans.

Pac's believability is questionable since his loss in the first Bradley fight. That loss, even though he was obviously robbed dramatically decreased the monetary value of him and Floyd's fight. He will have a rematch with Maidana. You can believe the contracts are already drawn. This time both will get an even bigger purse. Maidana will get knocked down, if not knocked out. Fight #48 will more than likely be Khan, but he needs to knockout whomever his next opponent is. And #49, in September (which was the first date, but now looks like December 2015) will be Pac. This will come off of Pac's win in he and Bradley's 3rd fight. Broner should really shut up and count his blessings, because Pac will need another big named victim for his May 2015 fight. The only reason that may not happen is because he's one of the 'great hopes/hypes'. His mouth might get him spanked though. If he does get thrown into that equation, he's going down by the 5th round, and no one will care about him anymore.

Floyd's quest to match Marciano's record is only a facade. If he stops at 49-0, he will always be compared to and eclipsed by Marciano. So there will be a 50th, a rematch after his first win over Pac. That one fight ends the Marciano discussion. Plus, he will be the only boxer in history (forever) to earn a Billion dollars from the sport. Watch. 100

it aint THAT deep, but there is some meditation from each player in this.

Floyd and Pac aren't fighting as long as Pac is with Top Rank. Floyd won't be fighting Top Rank fighters. This isn't complicated. This fight will only happen is pacman leaves Top Rank.

Exactly. He moves from welter to junior middle knocking off either the top ranked guy or hottest guy going. No Brandon Rioses here. No Josh Clotteys coming of a loss here.

All of this was bullshit. I only kept reading hoping there would be something that wasn't complete and utter nonsense.
But the bolded was the part I wanted to address. Floyd's glove did touch the mat in the Judah fight and it was missed by the ref but he did not touch the mat in the Mosley fight. He actually has a knockdown when he wasn't punched.

Not only that but Broner isn't fighting Pac either. Broner is a Golden Boy fighter and GB and Top Rank are the most bitter of rivals, so that ain't happening.
Floyd fights bring out those casual fans who, if you let them talk, will always expose their ignorance.

Watched the fight again last night. Awful fight. Holding and more holding. Floyd win, but that was easily a fight the judges could have taken from him. I'm a huge fan, but these fights are awful to watch. He wasn't even punching with a proper fist. His hands must be shot. Worse than he lets on. That's 4 boring fights in a row. Losing steam.

Sheeyit. Him against Canelo was a party. I had a ball watching that. Floyd was on fire. Don't have amnesia

Canelo was a boxing clinic. I've watched it 20 times or so. But the other fights were awful. Ortiz may have been his most exciting fight because of the controversy and potential knockout before the shit happened. The Maidana fight was clinch-fest. They slow danced to Reunited during that entire fight.

i just got a weird feeling that if Money gives him the rematch Maidana will do something to get disqualified...........

I tell you one thing though next person come up to me talking about Floyd lost that fight ima beat they ass. I literally had to explain to my cousin whenever it comes down to a decision tactical fighters like Money wont lose to a slugger like Maidana. The whole fight all Maidana was doing is swinging wildly hoping to land that knockout punch. I will admit he was give some good hits as well as received them and the fact he thought he won that fight goes to show you how delusion that nigga is.

Floyd picked his shots carefully thats what he does he is good counter fighter my cousin slow ass talking about he boring just because he didnt stand toe to toe with Maidana and slug it out. Listen Money aint getting any younger and he doing what he got to do to go out on top (taking no L's) I told that nigga if he wanna see a slugfest then he need not to watch no more mayweather fights. It wasn't just him i had to explain this to, it was a few village idiots on the BS train. They was all brothers to so i didnt mind.........i dont explain mayweather fights to whites they want it one :hmm: so why waste my breath

Now as far as a rematch i think it would be entertaining because the simple fact i would love to see how each fighter adjust to what they learned from the first fight.
Maidana has good stamina but he will have to slow down and make his punches count. Floyd will have to stop stepping back when he gets in a good combo that shit pisses me off to no end. Its like he over counter sometimes like he will throw a good combo and land it then let off of him. He did that several times during the fight. I

I don't think he deserves it.

I feel maidana let his fans down, he should have given it his all, utilize all of his skills, instead he took the easy road and fought dirty for 12 fucking rounds, he could've done much better than that.

Roger said he took risks but he was basically just fighting wild and dirty, I think he cared more about trying to hurt floyd than beating him.

I say pass on a Maidana rematch

Manny's contract with Bob Arum and Top Rank is almost over.

You're entitled to your opinion. But, I'm not just speaking on assumptions, though not first hand, it's inside camp knowledge. Believe it or not, Floyd does not want to even be boxing anymore. He intended for the De La Hoya fight to be his last. He was forced to fight Hatton, and had it not ended in a knockout, there was a guaranteed rematch in the contract. He tried to retire again after Mosley, but was forced to fight Cotto. When he talked retirement that time, the domestic violence issue (which I'm told nothing even remotely of the sort happened) came about and he went to jail.

I can't delve too deep into any of the other stories but Williams and Gatti, because they came from reports of after talk, that weren't repeated anymore. But, I was told all those boxing incidents with the exception of Vernon Forrest were boxing business related. The one about Williams though I know a little more. I know that he was supposed to fight and lose to Canelo Alvarez, so that another undefeated matchup could happen between he and Floyd. But Williams reportedly didn't want to do that, because he wanted a shot at Floyd, whom he felt like he could beat. Incidentally I kinda agree. He wasn't supposed to take a dive, but he wasn't supposed to give his all either. Shortly after those failed talks he met with the accident. Coincidence, sure why not?

From what I hear about Gatti, he was in talks to write a tell all book about the boxing inside, but specifically detailing shit outside of the ring. His death was peppered with unexplained foul play. There were accusations of homicide and suicide, arrests, convictions, vacated convictions, and multiple autopsies. Ultimately, it was ruled a homicide, because he was fucked up before the gunshot. There were so many bruises that it was unexplainable, and though his wife took the initial fall as his killer, his bruises were proven to have happened prior to his death, and no one believes she being nearly half his size in weight could have accomplished it.

As far as the knockdowns, I know it was more than one, but maybe it just wasn't the Mosley fight. I'm re-watching them now to see.

Lol pullin the old "I know some inside shit none of y'all know, and don't ask me to prove it"
Card huh?

LOL. That was pretty funny. I guess it could be looked at that way. As a matter of fact, it absolutely can. I don't need anyone to believe me. I'm just sharing some shit with the fam. It's not making me any money at all. My cousin been knockin off a bitch from Regal management for about the past 4 years, and she love to run her mouth at parties about shit she over hears. She got hella industry stories from parties and shit about mofos you wouldn't believe was gay. Well, you probably would, but you probably wouldn't guess it. I done heard a lotta wild stories. I can only say this, I'm not lying about what I was told. Now whether or not she's completely honest about everything is a different matter altogether. 100

I thought the Guerrero fight was a lackluster fight but the Cotto fight was every bit as intense and exciting as this one and the Alvarez fight was such a pure clinic, I thought it was great. Not a great fight but a great performance by Floyd.

:smh:
A ton of bullshit (except the part about Gatti being murdered and even that is filled with bullshit).
I liked Williams but he was never in line for a Mayweather fight unless he beat Canelo (he was scheduled to fight him, common knowledge). He wasn't exactly on fire at the time and was the underdog going into that fight.
I used to think he had the formula to beat Floyd...until I saw him repeatedly get outboxed by guys Quintana and Lara.
I'm sure Floyd might have wanted to stop but I do remember him having some tax issues and that will add some years to a celebrity's career and not just boxers.

Lol pullin the old "I know some inside shit none of y'all know, and don't ask me to prove it"

 Most of which doesn't hold up under any scrutiny. But I bet he impresses the shit out of niggas in the barbershop.
Not saying Plex is lying, I'm sure he heard all these stories, but he should stop passing them off like facts.

I don't think he deserves it.

Maidana's fans don't feel let down so you're off the mark with that one. Dude gave it his full effort and came up short. If he hadn't fought dirty, we would have gotten the blowout we were all expecting.

Passing on the rematch would be a bad business decision and the one thing no one can say about Mayweather is he makes bad business decisions (his personal decisions are another matter).

He's set to sign another 2 year contract with Arum. He always reups with Top Rank. He's not going anywhere.
That's because Bob Arum starts in early with the re-sign hard sell. Manny knows that, if he waivers, Arum will throw him to the wolves to damage his brand before letting him go. It's like a pimp politely asking a ho if she'd like to stay or have her freedom (while holding a crowbar in his hand). Of course, the ho is going to say  while inside saying :smh:. Manny's Arum's indentured ho.

You're one of THOSE huh? You're running your mouth like a broad based on a whole lot of conjecture from a broad?

She's fucking "someone" in a company and all of a sudden we're supposed to believe your 5th person antidotes that don't even make sense based in what we really do know?

We don't care whose gay. We're over here talking about boxing sir.

Gossiping is gay.

Please! All of money's haters believe that bum can actually win. They feel they were so close to seeing the man they hate the most lose. This will sell like no other ppv in history; he made 90 mil off canelo, he will make 100 mIL off this rematch. Floyd would be a fool to not take this fight.

this

There is a story floating around that Pacquiao wants to fight Canelo after he fights Lara. Canelo has already been taking shots at Manny.

If it's also true that Schaefer is taking off from golden boy, oscar better hope Canelo shows loyalty to him then.

I fully intended to make it completely clear that this was just shit I heard. It ain't like I'm personally chillin in the midst of the shit. If so, I probably wouldn't have time to be cruising this board anymore. I just figured I'd kick around a few of the stories "I've heard" with the fellow boxing fans/conspiracy theorists, or whatever. All of this shit is just entertainment to me. By the way, I don't go to the barbershop, I cut my own shit. Wanna hopefully get one of those self cut system joints, so the wife can stop fussing about hair on her mirrors. And thinkin about what I wrote earlier, I more than likely would still cruise the board.Shit been addictive all these years, can't see it changing.

Yea, uh I didn't say I needed anyone to believe me. I was just shootin the shit with y'all. And I think you meant 5th person 'anecdotes'. :smh: 'Antidotes.':D Either way, it was just something to throw in the discussion, to be discussed... like you are doing. You did realize that, right? And when I brought up the gay part I was over here talking bout boxing too. P.S. my dude, this whole thread, and at least 90% of what's discussed on this board is 'gossip'. You did realize that, right? Oh well, guess you can't kick it with us no more. 100

Lol my bad, you're right. I meant ANECDOTES.

Anyway, that 90% gossip I don't pay attention to. The percentage I tend to be in isn't that. I don't know what parts of the board you frequent. I mostly see titties (nothing to gossip about there), humor, and observations.

There's not much to discuss when you wanna gossip. We were having a convo about shit we KNOW to the best if our ability, based on what's being out out there. You tried to back up some shit you asserted by saying you know shit we don't know cuz you behind the scenes lmao. C'mon man, we all saw it.

Naw man. I never said I was behind the scenes. And if that's the impression I gave, then my bad. Again, I just was enjoying some boxing chatter with the fam. No harm, no foul. I don't try to claim to be what I'm not. I'm the type, that if I start gettin it, or I see a way to get it, be it a hustle or whatever, I share. I don't wait til I'm on top. That's just me. You could look at my post in the business forum to see that which by the way I need to update today. I enjoy seeing the next man make it. So if I can help, that's what I do, especially if there's a family involved.
