Max kellerman “Track and field is not a sport”

what the hell is he talkin' about?

i'm sure everybody ..on this board...knew somebody in high school..or college...that played football or baseball...but also ran track to work on their speed and explosiveness....

usain bolt...jus realized very early on...that he had world-class speed....and track athletes do pretty well financially in Europe...

raw athleticism...is only like 10% of it...the other 90% is hard work and dedication....the overwhelming majority of athletes work their asses off...to perfect their craft....

usain bolt coulda been a world class soccer player...or football player...or whatever...if he chose to be....

If track ain't a sport then mad shit ain't sports. The only practice I dreaded going to was track practice

baseball players have it the fuckin easiest... football players the worst..

if its a little drizzle the baseball team aint had to practice... it could be pouring raining they had us out there doing hamburber drills....

football is the worst for athletes and track and field is the ULTIMATE SPORT.. its the fuckin ORIGINAL sport...

now fuckin nascar and golf..... bruh

I don't know what bullsh*t he on NOW?

but as long time followers of his?

NO ONE f*cked with his boxing acumen.

and usually he on the the proper side

but lately he doing this hot take sh*t that has run rampant throughout the history

and REALLY not only turning off fans

but completely undermining their OWN credibility and sports journalism as a WHOLE.

Dude sounded like an idiot

So what about football, most people who play football are specialist playing a certain position. Is a player blocking an athlete?

He should have saved that comment for golf or race car driving or something

yes cuz more goes into it than jus blocking...much more

and no disrespect to football players....but if you take the fastest man in the nfl...and put him in the Olympic 100m dash finals....he would get SMOKED!!

Renaldo Neamiah (sp) went from track and field to football.

I was dating a track chick recently

She sent her workout to me

Shhhhhiiiiiiittttttt

Real talk?

I'm just about done with First Take

Max takes himself seriously

Max Kellerman is a contrarian. He always takes the opposite view of anyone on the show. He's just another Skip Bayless type who think they know everything about sports without having ever been in the arena themselves. Those who can, do; those who can't hate on those who can. That's Kellerman and Bayless. :hmm:

Sorry br

Sorry bro, you are dead wrong on this. I played football and track. Let me introduce you to the three fastest motherfuckers to EVER grace the planet.

1. Bo Jackson 4.12

2. Darrell Green 4.15/ 4.43 @ 40 y/o on grass

3. Joey Galloway 4.18/ 4.29 @ 40 y/o grass

Usain Bolt 4.22

4. Randy Moss 4.25

5. Deion Sanders 4.27

If any of these five men wanted Olympic gold they could have easily achieved it if they trained for it.

Carl Lewis, Ben Johnson, nor Usain Bolt have the insane leg muscle mass that Bo Jackson had. Randy Moss had the same talent as Usain Bolt.

The Jamaicans love to talk shit but its well known that PED testing in the Caribbean is trash and that the runners juice and cycle in the off-season. Randy Moss on PEDs would run a 4.0 forty. Bo didnt need PEDs. He already had the perfect body for sprinting.

Had Bo juiced like most Olympic athletes at that time and trained for the 100m exclusively he could have broken Ben Johnsons' 9.79.

Moss is built similar to Bolt. 40 times are in the same range. Had Moss taken track seriously, he would have put up 100m times close to Bolts or at least south of the 9.7 range. Moss is similar to Bolt as both their high end speed kicks in at 40-55ms.

Galloway, Green, and Sanders all had traditional track bodies with the ability to medal at the Olympics if that was their goal.

The thing you have to understand about football players is that they rarely take track seriously. Most dont run track after their Junoir years in HS. If you have a scholly locked up you only use track to stay in shpae. Hell, I skipped the State Finals my senior year to go to the Senior skip day at the state park. Even those who do it in college only give so much time. If you ever ran track, you understand the amount of training it takes to get to peak shape and times.

No one runs the same times all season and certainly they do run their best times in the beginning. It takes real hard work to reach your own personal peak. Plus the boost that competition gives you helps your times too.

Most football dudes be peeping out all the ass on the girls team and trying to get numbers. Rarely do football players put in the effort the full time track dudes do.

Big difference in someone doing the time by hand

Galloway and Moss ran the 40 the same way Bolt did. Bo was electronically timed at 4.13 at Auburn track and ran a 4.12 at the combine. I was getting electronically timed at the University of Michigan football camp in the early 90's. Ran the 2nd fastest WR time but never lost a race that day. The dude who had the fastest time purposely avoided racing me after I beat him earlier in a head to head 40.

He ran one more sprint and beat my time. I called his soft ass out for that shit too. Nigga didnt want no smoke and pulled a bitch made move.

My point being if motivated I would have beat his ass again and put up a better time. I always ran fast enough to win and nothing more. As a team sports player the goal is to win the game and not to attain a certain score/time. If you hard wire a fast enough football player with a goal of beating Usain Bolts time, then it will happen.

But if dudes keep the half assed attitude that most football players have about track then track guys will keep prevailing. Its not about being lazy it about motivation. When you have scholly on deck and world class speed with NFL dreams, nobody is trying to get hurt during track season.

Niggas finna flirt with the track girls with nice bodies , stay in shape, and keep it pushing.

Addition to my list. Alexander Wright played WR at Auburn and ran a 4.14. Auburn has him running a faster all time 60m track time than Bo by .01 of a second .

He should be on my list before Deion.
