Matt Lauer You're....FIRED!!!

Interesting thread and comments.

agreed

I actually think its not a woman bashing thing

because I have been genuinely surprised how many WOMEN have rolled their eyes and said this is a lot.

Which I'm torn on.

I do NOT want some type of statute of limitations on assault or rape

but I think we do have to address that the longer you wait

for whatever reason

the burden of proof changes

And the thing is while most of these cases appear clear cut

we may start to get into a very gray area

where a woman at the time did not consider it harassment and then later

with time, friends, maybe even misremembering

decide it was

that is scary.

Because before?

we did have the rare occurrence of the false rape accusation

an dealt with that

but now?

after 15-20 years

a false accusation can destroy you.

Look WE all knew Matt Lauer was doing something like this

tons of rumors (which again is dangerous but this was from current and former colleagues)

for damn near decades

and no one did anything.

that is troubling to, maybe even more so

No offense, but you sound gay.

If that was so easy for men to do, then the shit wouldn't happen this frequently.

Sure there are men who don't do the shit, but you have men don't cheat on their women, either. Good luck with all that.

You put men and women in the same environment, nature dictates that sexual shit will happen. Period.

Again you're trying to use an excuse for your lack of self control , "It's nature". The comment u made about men not harassing women and not cheating on their woman is the difference between men that have self control and those men who don't/don't wanna practice self control. Again if you feel you can't work with a woman, stay home

Me and a female friend got into this morning because I made a joke like dang they got another dude. I was like man just an accusation can get you done done. She is abuse survivor so she went all in on me. Made more sense but as I explained to her, we need to have some kind of due process, because this day in age, women are saying a man looking at them wrong is sexual misconduct. Meanwhile was in Big Lot this am and female worker said damn you smell so good I could just bite you. If I said that at this day in age, I could be a wrap.

Matt Lauer allegedly sexually assaulted a female NBC staffer during the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014, sources told Page Six.

An NBC insider said Lauer’s alleged victim complained to HR on Monday: “This happened so quickly. She didn’t go to the media, she made a complaint to NBC’s human resources, and her evidence was so compelling that Matt was fired on Tuesday night. The victim says she has evidence that this has also happened to other women, but so far we don’t have evidence of that.”

Another source tells us that the decision to fire Lauer was made late Tuesday night by NBC News chairman Andy Lack.
So this shit happened in 2014!!? Come on man!! Now she decides to Tell? How much you think she wants? :smh:

The immediate responses from Hollywood and Republican politicians have been telling

"Matt Lauer has been terminated from NBC News," NBC said in a statement. "On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment."

In a memo to NBC employees, NBC News chairman Andy Lack wrote of the alleged sexual misconduct, "It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company's standards. As a result, we've decided to terminate his employment. While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over twenty years he's been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident."

On Wednesday morning, Hoda Kotb joined Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie instead of Lauer; Guthrie then told viewers it was "a sad morning at Today and NBC News" and read Lack's email on air.

to CNN, both New York Times and Variety were in the midst of writing an article detailing allegations of sexual misconduct against Lauer. While NBC's memo said that the "inappropriate sexual behavior" claim against Lauer was the "first complaint" against the host, Variety's Ramin Setoodeh said their story detailed "multiple victims." Setoodeh added that NBC was aware that the "bombshell story" was imminent.

Read NBC News chairman Andy Lack's full statement on Matt Lauer

Dear Colleagues,

On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company's standards. As a result, we've decided to terminate his employment. While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over twenty years he's been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.

Our highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected, and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences, no matter who the offender.

We are deeply saddened by this turn of events. But we will face it together as a news organization -- and do it in as transparent a manner as we can. To that end, Noah and I will be meeting with as many of you as possible throughout the day today to answer your questions.

Andy

Ummmmmmm, but wait. Where's the video of the woman walking around NYC getting "harassed" by black men. Seems we're not so much the problem after all.

This is precisely why women should be at the damn house or not working in the same places.

I know women are capable of doing their jobs, but the dynamics make for an unnatural work environment. In order to make it work, men have suppress being men, and women have to be protected more than the men.

The same reason men and women have different bathrooms is the same reason why they shouldn't work together.

If it's an all-male workplace, if somebody sexually harasess you, you whip his motherfucking ass or get beat-down and quit - the way nature intended. Nobody getting any special treatment.

That's an excuse men with no self control wanna use, if you feel like you can't have a conversation/work with a woman without trying to get sexual with her then you're the one that needs to be at home.

No offense, but you sound gay.

If that was so easy for men to do, then the shit wouldn't happen this frequently.

Agreeing with @pookie on this. It is not on the person harassed/assaulted (actual harassment/assault, not perceived) to prevent the harassment in a work place setting besides keeping things professional themselves and or drawing clear boundaries. Technically, it isn't on the victim outside of work to prevent the harassment, but lines might get blurred depending on the setting. Millions of men, ourselves included go through their daily lives without crossing lines with women they interact with. They don't put themselves in a position to even be mistakenly accused of sexual harassment or inappropriate sexual behavior. They aren't fighting urges to act inappropriately - they're being normal, decent people. Therefore, it is entirely possible for men and women to work and congregate together without someone trying to get sexual with the other person.

We must also note that in all of these cases, it isn't just the standard employee, like Jim from accounting being fired for harassing women, although that will likely happen more often. These people getting fired have considerable power and influence in the spaces they operate in. They can make and break careers. The women never came forward because it was detrimental to their own lives to do so. Things are changing now, as it should.

This victim blaming must stop. Victim blaming and burdening women to prevent harassment is an old way of thinking. It has already extended to schools around the country in the form of pushing girls for dressing in anyway that might serve as a distraction to male classmates. However, in a number of those cases, you'll find out that those girls are wearing normal clothing and not wearing anything revealing. Similar to grown women and grown men, the girls aren't responsible for the lack of self control in the boys and the women at work aren't responsible for the lack of self control in their colleagues.

Seriously, if some dude can't go to work and interact with women in an appropriate manner then they need to look inward and figure out why that is and or change the setting they're in.

None of these people have been arrested, so due process as far as the law is concerned for these people being fired is still in effect . Due process can vary from company to company. Where one company will put something in a personnel file, another will not give the accused a bonus, or another one will terminate immediately. At will employment guarantees employees nothing; I'm sure you know this.

They were looking to get rid of Lauer and go younger this was an excuse to get him out without an age discrimination lawsuit from him.

I swear you dudes in here love trying to make excuses for yourselves. STFU...go to work and stop thinking every women out there is a sex toy. To be honest the dudes that think that way are the ones that get the LEAST amount of pussy.

You sound like such a strong woman.

In any case, I have no dog in this fight. Been my own boss for over a decade.

First of all, I don't work for anybody. Second of all, while you may be right, self-control is not something most people have.

That is why these things are always happening, and are so common.

You have this idealized idea of what male-female workplace interaction is supposed to be like, but it is not consistent with reality.

I know shit is imbalanced, but you got to be some sort of pink blooded, hop scotch playing faggot to report a woman for saying something sexual to you or touching you sexually.

and that is why men need to say something about it.

this type of thought process makes it socially acceptable for women to get away with that shit.

i get "touched" all of the time. rubbing on my chest, shoulders, back etc. i have never said anything but i should. because i know if it was me i would be fired.

and let's not get started on the shit talking comments about what i could do for them....

So, if I'm following you correctly, if you were in a position of power and influence, and you had bad women working beneath you, you wouldn't ever feel tempted to use that power and influence where you deemed it advantageous to do so?

Girls can't dress in a manner distracting to boys? Are you a guy? I assumed you were, but I'm wondering now.

You should say something if you feel threatened or dislike being touched. As a guy, I just do not understand how that happens, unless the woman is hideous. If she is hideous, tell on her. You have my permission.

its not even about that anymore. now its about protecting yourself.

exactly my point.

Perhaps.

I guess I'm too old-fashioned. You don't get groped by a woman and snitch. You're supposed to actually enjoy being treated like a piece of meat.

Although I'm not an employer, if I were, knowing who I am, I would not abuse the power I had to date or have sexual relationships of any kind with my employees. What type of person are you (serious question) that makes you think that type of behavior is acceptable and should go without consequences?

Yes, I'm a man. Yes, girls can be distracting to boys, of course, especially teenagers. The point I'm making with that statement is specifically that the boys have to control their urges. Schools are putting blame where it shouldn't be, especially when it's clear those girls aren't wearing anything abnormal or provocative. The parents of those boys have to show them how to control their urges, unless they don't know how to themselves. Society has gone ages without boys being so distracted by their classmates that they can't learn in school that the girls have to be punished for wearing normal clothing. What has changed? Again, put the blame for lack of self control where it belongs.

Well you might not work for anybody but I do and I've seen plenty of male-female interaction in the workplace and most people DO have self control, it's that small percentage of people that don't have self control that are the ones causing the problems. There are wayyyyyyy more people who come to work and don't harass others than there are people that do. About 85% of men can come to work, interact with women as co-workers and do their job with no problem, the other 15% are the ones that are getting fired for lack of self control or cconstantly getting called to HR.

Fair enough.

I guess it is encouraging to see so many men able to control themselves around women.
