In my junior year at Maryland, I worked as a PA at CNN under Wolf Blitzer. I had always heard that a studio was like a locker room, but unless you've witnessed it firsthand, you'd never know.
Cameramen, DP's, PA's, MUA's Technical directors, producers, sound guys are all in on the behind the scenes culture of television and movie production aka Hollywood, with the lead host usually knowing what's up. That's not to say that Wolf knew what was going on, but I know full well that his second assistant at the time was involved in some shit with an intern.
In short, this isn't surprising to anyone that has worked in a tv studio. It's more surprising that it's took THIS long for the chickens to come
home and roost.
It's as bad, if not worse than locker room culture.

on HBO, it's a bit like that but a bit raunchier.

NBC was paying Matt 25 million a year. They didn't fire him off a simple accusation. Look at the statement. It indicates he did something terrible and more than once. They probably have hard evidence to fire their guy so swiftly. Apparently the NY Times was investigating and preparing an article. The floodgates were about to open on this dude, so NBC canned him.

People essentially forget that you're working for a television company and all bets are off.
This was where I learned just how huge cocaine is huge in the film world. I saw more activity in that studio than I ever saw at University.
