I have noticed that math equations have been trending on my Facebook timeline for the past couple of weeks. The latest one(one I seen today) is as followed:
1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1×0+1=
Thousands of replies with debates of course. Have you seen any of these types of threads on your Facebook timeline? What would your answer be for the above equation?

when you see x 0 it means zero unless there's something else after it

I guess the point of this thread is that lately, these types of equations have been popping up in my Facebook timeline lately and I don't understand why.
Simple. Facebook is one big ass data/information collection website. Every unique response to these types of questions creates a treasure trove of data that can be used for global comparison ("Australians are ____ more likely to know the correct answer to XYZ equation than their Canadians counterparts), marketing ("Someone in your family struggles with math. Let XYZ Software/Tutoring help them get on par with their US/Mexican/Germany counterparts in their age range), etc.
Other than being a centralized attention whoring database, FB real value is the kind of data it can collect and sell with out people realizing every "like" or answer is them being watched behind the online mirror-glass.

Keep in mind, it doesn't matter if you multiply or divide first, so in the order of operations, when working from left to right you can either divide or multiply first. PEMDAS or PEDMAS is the same thing.
