Smart Move by Marvel... The first episode should be the template for connecting future shows/series...

Watched all 5 episodes this evening.

Without spoiling for those who have not seen it yet. The series connects to the Netflix series Daredevil directly after the opening scene.

It plays out ok, the series was mainly a slow burn focused on character development of the main character. We got more information on her origin along with her finding out what her purpose is after discovering her powers.

The best action sequence was what you see in the trailer, it plays out longer when you see it. There are a couple more fight scenes.

A large number of recognizable Native American actors from recent and ongoing series have supporting roles. Good representation of Native Americans and their culture thru out the series.

Vincent D'Onofrio (Kingpin) steals the series with his performance. Hopefully we should see more of him in Daredevil.

There is a mid credit scene on the final episode. This looks to be either the main plot or a subplot for the upcoming Daredevil series.

Overall, it’s entertaining. More action was needed. My pet peeve is whoever was in charge for subtitles needs to be fired, it was hard reading them cuz they would pop up quickly or after the characters talked. I doubt there will be 2nd season, but it’s clear we will see Echo making cameos in future series/movies.

I enjoyed this series 7/10. The Choctaw imagery was dope. The choreography was pretty good, they needed more fight scenes though.

The final action scene was pretty ridiculous though :smh: after 5 episodes of gun shots, sword attacks and bloody violence.

It plays too hard on the girl power, we overcome men angle though, but its 2024 at least she wasn't lesbian :lol:
 
Under its new Spotlight banner Echo is supposed to be something for more mature audiences.
The story is definitely more sinister and visually more brutal than Marvels latest streaming releases.
There are great performances from the cast. Alaqua Cox's performance as Echo has great range as each episode plays out. As her grandfather Skully (Graham Greene), and grandmother Chula (Tantoo Cardinal) they have a great, playful comfortable feel together even 33 years after their coupling in Dances with Wolves. They easily shift gears between being dramatic and humorous. Vincent D’Onofrio is great as ever as Kingpin. Marvel does the usual family set ups with a silly cousin Biscuits (Cody Lightning). A caring and concerned cousin Bonnie (Devery Jacobs) and uncle Henry, played by Chaske Spencer. Disney continues to make alterations to certain characters and most of it works here. Yes there is violence but it's not nearly as brutal as I thought it would be I don't even think I heard that much profanity. So I can tell Disney is not in full Mature Mode.
They didn't waste anytime to what I was looking forward to in the series. A good job is done celebrating indigenous culture. There is good raw emotion displayed that's connected to familial ties,regret and betrayal. Some parts of the story play out in lackluster ways.
In the fifth episodes stinger I wish what happened was already in place in episode one because it would have fit right in with something that occurs in the episode.

Just stared watching. Two episodes in. I liked her character in the Hawkeye series and this picks up where that left off.
The first thing I noticed was that there were no gay characters in the whole town among all those indigenous people where she grew up
I mean there might be some, but they're not FEATURED like that cock smoker in Eternals (yes I'm still p'd about that).

First two episodes pretty good. Wilson Fisk is one TOUGH SOB. Point blank in the grill and still breathing?
 
One question I have and I don’t recall it being it addressed in the series.

But did anybody notice that Cousin Biscuit’s pickup truck, it had Right Side steering.

When I first noticed it, I assumed someone in editing Fucked up and reversed the film. But all scenes showed it on the right.

What is a right side steering pickup truck doing in Oklahoma?

I do know the Big 3 makes trucks for countries with right side steering, but those vehicles are a pain in the Ass to get retrofitted to be legal to drive on American roads.

Biscuits did say the truck belonged to Grandma Chula, I suspect there is more to her story and it involves that truck.

He mentions the steering being on the wrong side, too.

I liked the first couple of episodes but it got a little boring to me in places.
I felt like the relationship between Echo and her childhood friend was a bit underdeveloped for how they played it up to be.

Vincent is a goddamned beast! His acting carried the show, IMO. I liked the chemistry between her grandma and the pawn shop owner.

The choppy cuts of Echo mixed with the ancestors started to get on my nerves after a while.

It says Post Office right on the door. Grandma Chula is in charge of the Post Office.

I didn’t catch that when watching it.

First time being aware the USPS converted non-USPS vehicles like that. I have also saw Jeeps converted for home mail deliveries.

I had to watch the fight scenes back...

I like how they used the leg as a deadly weapon...

I wonder will they tie her native background to a
Vibranium source like Namor... And give her an Vibranium or maybe an Adamantium upgrade...
 
The last episode was so unnecessary....

They should have ended the show after the Hotel showdown with Echo and Fisk...

And reintroduce Bullseye to track Echo down...

The MCU-ing her powers... Echoing... Stop

Just give her the comic book power set... Photographic reflexes...

In the comics she basically a female Taskmaster that's in tune with nature... Simple...

Ok done. Liked it but I watched the downloaded version and they had ZERO subtitles so I was basically illiterate on just about every signing scene. I understand a little the final scene with Maya and Grandma. I could make out that she persuaded her G-Daughter to use LOVE instead of anger and rage and that's what she used on Fisk. All in all I dug the series, mainly for the culture and for the connection to the overall story

I just wish Marvel (or really Hollywood) gave black culture that much love OUTISDE OF WAKANDA
