Dallas Cowboys officials are in talks with promotional firm Top Rank about bringing a boxing match to Cowboys Stadium, tentatively scheduled for July 14.

Bob Arum, president of Top Rank, said he would like to bring Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez to face Brandon Rios for a possible junior welterweight title fight. The fight is contingent upon Marquez and Rios each winning their fights April 14 -- Marquez's in Mexico City and Rios' in Las Vegas.

Marquez (53-6-1) will meet Sergey Fedchenko (30-1) in the main event. Rios (29-0, 22 KOs) takes on Richard Abril (17-2-1, 8 KOs) on an undercard bout. Arum said if Rios and Marquez win their fights and don't sustain any significant physical damage, they will meet.

Brett Daniels, senior director of corporate communications for Cowboys Stadium, said several dates have been discussed with Top Rank.

Cowboys Stadium has hosted two boxing cards, both involving Manny Pacquiao in 2010.

I agree but it's still a dangerous fight for him.

Any fight worth watching are all going to be dangerous for him at this age, but if he can handle Pac, Rios shouldn't be able to blow him away. We aren't talking about a master boxer in Rios... the real danger is a robbery of some sort.

I was just going by the Juan Diaz fight - the 1st one. The only reason Marquez was able to get away with the way he fought that fight was Diaz didn't have power. Any volume puncher with serious power like Rios can make even a classic boxer have a hard night. But like you said if he can handle Pac at welter...

I think it would be a stupid move for dude to brawl with Rios, but Marquez is a smart fighter. The only fear in the ring is if he's shot and his body doesn't move in sync with his mind.

I'm sure Marquez felt Diaz' punches early and fought the way he knew he could get away with, but if he felt heat... He would adjust.

I agree but at his age it's still a very dangerous fight to take. More dangerous than either Floyd or Manny's next opponents.

So you think Rios beats Bradley hunh..

Bradley is a good fighter but also limited in the sense that he has no power and his style isn't that dissimilar to Rios - who incidentally should have been fighting at 140 for a while now.

But the point really is - do you think Bradley could beat Marquez? Or at a comparable weight - could Cotto beat Marquez? I don't, especially with no power and Cotto with sub-par boxing IQ. Rios is a different animal, he has no reverse. Guys like that are more difficult to keep up with than if your facing another more conventional boxer like - Bradley or Cotto. We've seen what young power punching volume fighters can do to classical boxers in the past. Styles make fights, but you know that already though.

Cotto vs. Marquez would be a hell of a fight...more like Morales vs. Barrera

Marquez

Rios ready for a true boxing lesson...after the Gamboa let down this fight is pretty good

Yep, cause you know Gamboa ain't goin anywhere near JMM. They'd probably have to restructure his contract just to get him to stand next to Marquez.

Exactly and Diaz seemed to be overwhelming him at times and even hurting him. Diaz was blasting Marquez into the ropes! Marquez really only turned it around after Diaz got cut and he was masterful in finishing Diaz. However, Marquez did not dominate that fight. I think Rios is just the right young guy to end Marquez.

Doubtful. If Manny couldn't do shit at a higher weight, I doubt Rios can. He better pray that Marquez comes in old like Roach and Co. were hoping. Plus, to play Devil's advocate, Marquez fought Diaz that way because he knew Diaz couldn't hurt him and Rios isn't as skilled as Diaz was.
