Is this a robbery or an all-out blitz?

A man wearing football pants and toting shoulder pads in one hand and a gun in the other held up a Queens fast-food restaurant, police said yesterday.

The gridiron gangster walked into a Popeye's Fried Chicken on Francis Lewis Blvd. late Thursday night and demanded money from the register, police said.

When the clerk hesitated, the suspect shot him in the right hand.

As the victim fell to the floor, the pigskin plunderer grabbed some cash before running out of the Rosedale eatery, police.

The suspect is not believed to be one of the two masked men who twice held up a nearby Crown Fried Chicken by leaping through the to-go window earlier this month, police said.

The 22-year-old clerk was treated at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and later released, police said.

The suspect was described as a black man, 5-feet-10 and 170 pounds, police said. He was not wearing a helmet.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
