How is this a problem when it's resolved by saying "yo dude can I grab that seat?". These people on the train aren't going to debutante balls, they're heading to or from work/school.

law always been on the books, as nyc continues to step on the necks on
its citizen to collect money or as they call it "quality of life". more of these
kinds of enforcement will continue
i paid a $50 summons for my metro card falling off the top of a full trash can
in 07. took 3 plainclothes cops to enforce that violation.

NYC government, cops, transit, housing are racist as hell...stop beating up a dead horse
about it they are not going to change.
Step outside the box and look at easy fix's that make
the racist have to face the logic of their bullshit.
Here's an example...
Either:
Men stop sitting crazy and blocking seats with their legs, in a busy very huge
city where guaranteed 75% of the people you see are dead tired, and if they
don't comply arrest them and or abuse them.
or...
NYC transit allow the option of paying a double fair! So you can use two seats
yes literally make it like buy a seat for your bags type thing where a rider can
pay double and with stub, stamp or some form of proof the cops won't ticket
or detain them for spreading or taking up two seats.
WIN WIN...

The problem with telling men to 'simply' comply is that manspreading is subjective to the discetion/opinion of the cop. Just like they can decide any random action is 'suspicious', there's no way to know exactly how far apart is too far for your knees to be legally parted. Does this include people who have packages, are obese, or have a medical condition that causes their manspreading? What if the guilty party is a woman? There are too many variables for the average citizen to 'simply' protect themselves from police abusing such a vague law. See: Stop, Question, and Frisk.

its not a race issue. and its not only a man issue. How many times you have you been on a train and saw a female with her bag sitting next to her, rather than on her lap? Its the same shit. People just need to have some damn common sense and realize that they are in a public place and should be cordial to others. But like someone said, just ask the person to move. When i lived in NY, if there wasnt enough space, i wouldnt bother sitting. I'm not gonna die from standing up. But if i have my daughters with me and i see someone is taking up and extra seat, i ask them to move. I dont care about dirty looks or people making comments, just move so my kid can sit.

If the subway car is half empty, I don't see why I have to make myself uncomfortable...once it starts to get full, common decency requires that I make room but some of this shit sounds real suspicious
