In three months Matt Manning from Xenia, Ohio transformed by dropping 40 pounds, which led to a $50,000 grand prize win.

As reported by WDTN 2 News, Manning’s motivation to change stemmed from some developing health issues and the realization that he had stopped being active with his kids. “I had had a few health scares, where I passed out, had to go to the ER by ambulance. Then also had some chest pains like six months later and then my dad had to have a heart valve transplant. So that really woke me up,” said the 45-year-old father and engineer. He decided to enter a 12-week fitness competition called the ‘$100,000 Transformation Challenge’ held by fitness website Bodybuilding.com . One male and one female with the best body transformations would each win $50,000.

Manning took the challenge seriously and altered his lifestyle by incorporating healthier food choices, portioning meals, and adding exercise to his daily routine. He told the station that it wasn’t easy but he had the support of his wife and family. “They said I look like a superhero now (laughs) which is, when they saw the after pictures. My daughter saw the after pictures she’s like, ‘Man you look miserable. I’d be miserable too if I looked like that,” said Manning.

The hard work paid off. Bodybuilding.com representatives surprised him at his gym with a personal announcement that he was the 2014 winner and apparently presented him with the prize money in a gym bag full cash. The female winner, Robyn Koolen from Alberta, Canada was presented with an oversized check.

Manning encourages others who want to make a change in their body, giving the advice, “It has to come from within. You have to have that want to. It has to be internally driven. But then you can do things to build support around you.”

The contest winner attributes a big part of his transformation to his wife and said he’ll use the prize money to treat her.

while this is true anyone with the same determination can get great results if they stick to a plan for three months.

Its highly unlikely to get those results in just three months and hes 45, those gains..he worked his ass off but im sure he was on HGH or the juice

He used something but he still put in work. He lost weight but maintained all of his muscle mass which doesn't happen naturally. Good job none the less.

wow :eek::yes:

man i need to get my ass back into the gym. i've slacked off this year man :(

The skeptics are killing me.

This isn't some 'Biggest Loser' level obese person. He was overweight with most of his weight concentrated in his waist and stomach. He doesnt even have skinfold issues in his before picture so excess skin wouldn't come into play at all here. He looks to have decent muscle mass and structure and probably worked out in his earlier years but let himself go with work and family life.

His transformation is impressive but not miraculous. I wouldn't be surprised if it was all natural either. The only reason I would even entertain that thought would be his age and race. But again, he looks to have been in good shape at some point so maybe that assisted the 90day makeover.

this is motivation.....
every fat muthafucka on the board needs to get their asses in here now.

I don't know man. I've been working out for a long ass time and have seen some rapid transformations. I think his "before" image was probably tampered with.... have you ever seen how people can manipulate the before image? Because that is a nearly "miraculous" turnaround in only 90 days. It's nearly impossible for 99 percent of the population regardless of diet, supplements, type of workout, and discipline to have those types of results in only 90 days.

I've seen people with that type of "after" body blow up and manipulate the before image (positioning, bloating, etc) and then regain their original form to compete in competitions like that. I'm calling bullshit on a guy coming into body building completely "green" and having those types of results.

I Disagree. I also think you are over exaggerating his before photo. Look at it. Most of his fat his concentrated in his belly. And to your original point, maybe some of that is indeed bloating. He was not a morbidly obese guy by any means. There was hardly love handles let alone folding skin and excessive fat. 90 days of hard cardio and moderate weight training can do that. It looks like a tone and cut job. He isn't massive in size at all. Hes lean as fuck.

.

Ive been lifting for over 20 years, he didnt make the transformation naturally. You don't lose that much fat and gain that much muscle at the same time in only 3 months. Not at 45, Impossible!

He definitely took something to assist in the process, but I do salute him for busting his ass in the gym. Even if he took HGH, he still had to lift hard to put on the muscle.
