The difference between these two is Malcolm X wanted full advancement and basic equality for black people before even considering dialogue with whites (rightly).

MLK was prepared to wait for whites to treat him equally, prepared to be beaten, hosed, jailed and threatened. Considering both these attitudes i'm more inclined to brother malcolms view but i appreciate both men because they ultimately wanted the same thing.

BOTH WERE BROTHERS STRUGGLING FOR US!!!!

TRUTH!!

MLK simply because he contributes a lot more towards brining black&white people together as one.

You mean made it easier for whites to control blacks with this bogus form of equality. Equality on their terms.

These quotes typify why i prefer Malcolm X (The greatest Amerikkkan ever).....

Sitting at the table doesn't make you a diner, unless you eat some of what's on that plate. Being here in America doesn't make you an American. Being born here in America doesn't make you an American. - Speaking on the hypocrisy of the white mans ''equality''

Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice. If you're a man, you take it. - Speaking on the armed struggle for freedom

Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery. - Speaking on white aggression

NIce pics indeed. Anyone else got any Pics??? Could use some for wallpaper. As for the question, I love them both like my fam said. They boh wanted deep down isnside to make your Afrikan people were happy. I would side with X though considering, through him, we would be faster to create our own facilities rather than being oppressed in the white man's facilities. This would lead to the govnt trying something to fuck us over. We would then find out at a faster rate, what we dont need to be in this fucked up contry.

But we need both types. A Malcolm and a Martin

Well, I am one who doesn't believe in deluding myself. I'm not going to sit at your table and watch you eat, with nothing on my plate, and call myself a diner. Sitting at the table doesn't make you a diner, unless you eat some of what's on that plate. Being here in America doesn't make you an American. Being born here in America doesn't make you an American. Why, if birth made you American, you wouldn't need any legislation; you wouldn't need any amendments to the Constitution; you wouldn't be faced with civil-rights filibustering in Washington, D.C., right now. They don't have to pass civil-rights legislation to make a Polack an American.

No, I'm not an American. I'm one of the 22 million black people who are the victims of Americanism. One of the 22 million black people who are the victims of democracy, nothing but disguised hypocrisy. So, I'm not standing here speaking to you as an American, or a patriot, or a flag-saluter, or a flag-waver - no, not I. I'm speaking as a victim of this American system. And I see America through the eyes of the victim. I don't see any American dream; I see an American nightmare.[/B]

I am sure whites had to do something about him

VERY WELL QUOTED>>>>>I AGREE TOTALLY!!!!!!!...If this is how U feel....U GOT MY VOTE  FUCK OBAMA

If you are for Malcolm, who advocated freedom by ANY means
necessary (as long as it was intelligent), then you HAVE to be
for Martin Luther King Jr

Only whites in power would have black folks choose one over the
other

true that....Malcolm Little ( Detroit Red ) all day, everyday....I've never been an MLK 'fan'....fuck, almost more than fourty years have passed....do you think this is what he envisioned???....racism is still alive, it's just more covert....I'm more of the mind-set that you don't beg for what you want, and rightfully deserve....you take it....MLK was a beggar...

Off the bat both. We needed both of them and 100 more of each to fight off the hate at the time.

After studying both of them for a while and getting my X when I was 19 and IF I only had one, I have to say MLK. People fail to realize/remember how "magical" he was. Not only was he able to ease relations between blacks and whites but MOST importantly, he was able to unify Blacks as no other leader has done before or since. Malcolm was no where near effective at either. However X was the voice of our soul and spirit and what we needed to hear and say but could not. Martin was the future and showed us how to use discipline and our economic power to our advantage.

why should one have to pick between the 2?
even though Martin may appear weaker to most because of his non-violence movement.
both were really strong, powerful, black brotha's/leaders.
im sure Martin and Malcolm knew they had a price on their heads for the things they were trying to accomplish.
wheneva they can stand up, basically agaisnt the whole white race..and a few house n-i-g-g-e-r-s.
and do what the did.
they both get props from me...always
Straight Up Bravery!!!

I was listening to Malcolm's Bullet or Ballot Speech once again and i have to say that that Malcolm spoke about the same things that are happening now.

I think Malcolm was a bigger threat to WHITES than Martin and thats why Whites had to resort to potraying him as the radical or the bad guy while deep down many black people could relate to Malcolm.Knowing white people, sometimes Violence is the language they understand and history has proved that
You statement ..."knowing white people..." is very telling.
Why? Because you obviously are one.

Malcolm and Martin are held in equal esteem by us, so what's the point of this bullshit post. Believe it or not many of us are hip to ofay's (and I do mean you) favorite tactic of "divide and conquer".

Malcolm's focus was primarally black people whereas Martin Luther King found good in all people and wanted to bring all people together. Something he was very successful at doing. For the long haul, I think Martin had a much bigger impact on the nation. In as much as I resepct Malcolm X and the good he did, if I had to choose, I'd pick Martin Luther King Jr.

And as peaceful as he was...and with ALL the turning of the other cheek..he STILL ended up being assassinated by the man/the powers that be.Personally i'd stick with Malcom X. This is how i see it..As long as "the man" can murder, rape mame and KILL us without any repercussions it will continue to happen.Yeah we might loose in an all out war..BUT most will will be made stop and THINK when he too might be killed.. with Martin they never had this to consider:hmm:

these two men are no different than any other men...two different views with the same goal in mind...too bad their lives ended the same way...
