It's the summer, I'm a girl and I love makeup. I wanted to ask the ladies of SOL: Do you wear makeup, do you do makeup? If so, post some pics of different makeup techniques you use. I want to see how everyone does there makeup differently...here are loads of pics of me and other people I have played with makeup on. Some are just for show, some I do wear out, others are just for the pictures.

Just bare in mind, some of these are from when I first learned, some are for specific events(like modeling shows), and some were just for fun.

You know makeup is one of my fetishes!! So DIVA!!!
I will add some to! I have one pic I posted from the weekend where you could see my eyeshadow pretty good. Let me grab it!!

I knew you were my long lost sis! Your makeup skills are FIERCE!

omg i am such a makeup fiend!!

my fav brands are:
uban decay (best eyeshadow EVER)
2faced (great overall)
MAC (duh!)

I will dabble in other brands...but when it comes to my everyday stuff it comes from the above

now as far as makeup in the summer....i found that studio fix by MAC and the prep lotion (forgot the name) stays longer...and also doesnt become streaky...i love it

i recently went to a MAC makeup class at norddys...it was about bringing a day look into night...they told us to add a slash of color on the lid...then do a shimmery neutral in the inside ridge of the eye..i tired it and loved it

im not a fan of having a bunch of eyeshadow all the way up to my eyebrows (it doesnt look right on me)...so here are some techinques that work well with how my eyes are shapped

smokey eye with any color: i saw this in a hair magazine in the hairdresser...basiclly u fill your entire lid with a black eyebrow pencil...then u add a thick line to the bottom of your eyes...this will act as a base for your shadow to really pop on...then u pick a color (when i want to be dramatic i chose a vibrant color like royal purple...but you can tone it down with doing bronze...or silver)...you apply your color all over the black u just put on...then...chose a lighter/shimmery version of the color u applied in the inner corner of your eyes...trust me u will look amazing..i saw yoyo on miss rap supreme rocking this look

i also will do my eyes normally....a shimmery neutral as the base...then maybe a lighter/darker color on the lid...and to take it to another level ill put the color on my lid in the corner of my eyes...it will totally open your eyes and make them POP

damn i can go on forever

ok..important question...what type of mascara do u all use

i have swiched between dior show...and fresh but i feel like i wanna try something else...i want my eyes to basiclly look like fake lashes 24/7

any suggestions ladies:)

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much makeup going on here. I'm sorry. That shit is out of hand. Black women should NOT be wearing all this makeup, you are not some cave bitch with pale skin, God gave you natural color. I feel that women who wear a lot of makeup think that they have to somehow dress up their ugly face.

A lot of times you end up looking like a clown.

90% of the makeup I use is MAC, the brushes I use are MAC for myself and no name for other people. I buy lots from Ebay so I can get all the colors I need. I'm not as hard into makeup as I used to be but I still love it. I wear fake eyelashes and I have naturally thick eyelashes so I don't need mascara often. I do use a clear lash thickener though. I will have to try that smokey technique, as you see I have no smokey eye pics b/c mine always suck. Most of those pics are from shows or me just playing around. I don't wear makeup up to my brows, only put a shimmer right under my brows to make them pop. I am now learning the very inner eyelid technique where you apply white or a frost color to make your eyes open up alot. I use a cream base for all my makeup, I use different foundations coupled with MAC studio fix and a bronzer. Maybelline would be my cheap choice of makeup, they have great mascara. I use both liquid and pencil liner.

Well I just like makeup, I don't think its anything wrong with it. Like I said, most of these pictures are from shows, so they are not everyday makeup wear. The first picture(neutrals) is how I usually wear my makeup....

i bought my brushes from ulta...the lady at the mac counter told me to:lol:...they do have some nice brushes tho

have u ever got those semi perm lashes? they apply them indvidually and they last for like 6 weeks?

i have worn fake lashes sometimes when i go out...but it takes me soooooo long to put them on right...im usually like fuck it...is there a special way u put yours on?

oh...and check out 2faced eyeshadow base called "first base"...its a cream base that has a gold shimmer...u can wear it alone or put shadow on top...the shimmer doesnt poke thru...but if u apply it a little over the lid and fill in the lid u can seee it...its a glossy shimmery color...i love it!

there is another product i just discoverd by LORAC...its like a crumbly loose eyeshadow...similar to the ones in your pic...but when u apply it...since it is crumbly it has a intersting texture to it...they have it in gold..bronze...and silver...i have the bronze one..and i wear it alone or sometimes over shadow

speaking of shadows...here are some i think every black woman should have

glamazon- 2faced
amber lights- mac
expensive pink- mac
midnight cowboy rides again- urban decay
sumg- uban decay
george and weeze duo- 2faced
beauty marked- 2 faced
antiqued- mac\
embarked- mac
mythology- mac
twinks- mac
all that glitters- mac
clestial- bare esentials

if anything...have those...then build from there

I love makeup as well.

My base is Napolean Foundation stick in Look #7 or Becca's Foundation stick in Chestnut.

My finishing powder is MAC's Blotting Powder in Dark.

Then I wear a coppery shimmer eye shadow with my a white matte shadow to highlight my brows.

I define my brows with a gel eyeliner in Dark Brown from Victoria's Secret.

I line my lips with Iman's Dark Brown lip liner and I wear a fabulous gloss from Victoria's Secret that they no longer make called French Kiss.

When I want to play it up if I'm going out I stick with muted purple/lavendar eyeshadows and matching gloss from either MAC, NARS or Victoria's Secret.

I actually dumped a whole bunch of make up recently to try to simplify.

But my favorite shadows are from Urban Decay and Makeup Forever.

I love makeup, but I'm defintely a rookie!!!

I love MAC makeup, but my roommate gives me Nars and Shiseido(sp) for free. I love my Viva Glam 5 for my lips! I do my makeup pretty basic when I wear it. Lots of neutral colors, shimmery colors....

I recently swtiched from maybelline mascara to L'oreal last stylist. I don't really have long lashes naturally, but it makes them look great. I'm also getting into liquid liner it looks more defined. since its summer, I don't do too much foundation. I'll moisturize and just use a bronzer.... I use this nice,I wanna say its physicians formula, bronzer that is great.

MzM,you are very talented. But I am not a makeup girl, the most I will do is mascara other than that it's carmax or vaseline on the lips.

wow ok Mzm!!!

but i don't wear make up...i don't know how to apply it either :o

all i wear is carmex and maybe some lip gloss :dunno:

I heard that Makeup Forever was a great product, but I don't have any. I haven't bought any in a long time. I need to reup on some new Mac colors. Lets see what I have off top of my head from MAC

Most of my MAC is pigments, I find they are the best for when I do shows(well when I did shows)

pink pearl
golden lemon
connflower
naked
fairylite
kitchmus
blue brown
olde gold
violet
golden olive
frost
fuschia
platinum
silver fox
pure white
all that glitters
I have lots of there Pro collection but I can't think of the names. I also have all of there glitter...

I just bought a Maybelline bronzer.

Lashes: I have never had the 6week lashes but I do have lashes that I wear sometimes. The method I use is to not use a lot of glue(DUO glue is the best, it dries black like liner) and to just put them almost on top of my lashes. I use a qtip to apply them at the crease of my eye. Then I go about putting on the rest of my makeup. I need to get into more brands other than MAC, I was obsessed with it. I heard Smashbox and Stila were great products, those might be my next, try shopping on Ebay for makeup, you can get a lot for little price and you get the little samples and they go a long way and you can test them out for your collection.

My lip gloss is from VS, I think the name is peach something, love it. I also sometimes mix a dot of pigment with clear to make a new gloss.

Thank you... I wasn't a makeup girl until I saw one girl who was just great at it and I started practicing and taking pics. It's easy once you get the hang of it. My sisters don't do makeup but they live by eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss.

I love, love makeup, but for work I'm pretty simple. Just some thin eyeliner, mascara, bronzer, and carmex.

Mzm you have a lot of makeup! :)

I don't wear make up like I used to. I used to do make-up but once I left that business it was a wrap. Now I only wear it on special occasions. In addition, I go to Macy's and have them apply it for me. I aim for the more natural looking make up that appears as if I dont have any on at all. In other words I am aiming for flawless skin. Example below:

Naima.jpg

Also, I hate MAC foundation. It looks to cakey to me. I can always tell when a black chick has on MAC.... especially when you take pictures with it... it makes your skin appear to be ashy.

My favorite for foundation is Prescriptives. They custom blend for you if they don't have your shade. It cost the same as MAC and looks so much better on Black Women... then once I get my foundation I stroll on over to the MAC counter to have them apply my lashes. When you purchase the $10 lashes they apply your eye makeup for free.

oh yea here goes the Before Picture:

f183re2.jpg

my fav for lips is mac's clear lip glass or spring bean (clear with shimmer)

personally i think smashbox is kinda overrated...they have some nice brushes...but as far as thier makeup its kinda borring to me

u really cant go wrong with going to sephora...that store is like disney land for me:D
