Most people don't have a need for this type of hardware.

There is probably a very small % of people that have a RED camera.

You do know that's not what the original mac pros were "just" about right? Or maybe you don't.

Who doesn't need a mac pro that's easily upgradable? I own an original mac pro and that's what the advantage was. I paid 3k for it. Your saying "most don't need these specs" when it wasn't about that, it was about being able to upgrade as you wish (to eventuallyget the specs u wanted).

The iMac Pro is for those people that can't afford this one.

Not if you want a tower with swappable parts and to run your own monitor. I hate the iMac form factor and I dont need two monitors on my desk (my widescreen curved next to an iMac pro).

The price is not bad when you look at the specs. Take for example the monitor. It has the same specs as a high industrial reference monitor which they use in post production movie houses. A reference monitor cost minimum $50,000 while the Apple one only cost $5000.

This machine is only for people that are using there computers to make money like Making Video Games or High Grade VFX special effects.

If your plan on using this to browse Facebook and Porn your just wasting your money. If you have a project you need done for a company. 1VFX project will pay for your computer.

Again. BS. The form factor allowed for easy upgrades and swaps.
Their notebooks also used to be easily upgrade able until they started to solder components to the mother board.

They obviously didn't have enough people like you purchasing Mac Pros to keep the price point where it was if you want those options.

Only time will tell if this decision will cost them.

All my artist friends are saying the same thing. A base model for those of us who aren't working for Disney or rendering graphics for Game of thrones but want the power that comes tailored for us is what was needed. I own 5 macbook pros, old school mac pro, an Imac, 4 mac minis (for my business) and a few iPads. They'd have gotten my money. I just dropped almost 4k on my Cintiq 24, an Mac pro would've been perfect for my artwork.

True, anyone who buys a 7 series BMW is just wasting money when a Toyota Corolla will do them same job.
That isn't an accurate analogy.

This is the equivalent of an F-150 truck and an excavator.

Yes, they both have four wheels and drive but one isn't made for consumers.

People who buy the mac pro decked out like that are heavy into desk top publishing, illustration or massive video editing where they get paid well and then the computer basically pays for itself in the long run. The average user just doing reports, spread sheets, browsing and playing games It's a waste of money.

For the people comparing the display to a monitor.

Apple is attempting to disrupt the pro display market where units cost over 30k.

The new Mac and the display are way out of my price range but I’m considering the base MacBook Pro 16inch
