M3 vs 2010 5.0 Mustang GT

I'm not defending the Mustang in the least and I'm a E46 ZCP owner but facts are facts and the M3 doesn't hold its value like it used to...and I'm willing to bet the E92 will depreciate at a higher percentage than the GT (mainly because of the economy).

Not sayin' that you're biased as you own an e46 but most e46 owners i know, dislike the e92. Regarding the market depreciation of the e92...feel free to check back in a couple years after the release of the 6cyl TT f30.

You can laugh all you want but search private party sales and go to a couple of the M3 forums and read what the OWNERS of the car have to say.

The M3 stopped having great resale with the E46.

Noticed that as well but i don't believe it was a result of tapping the brakes...instead, i believe Ford either went with pulse width modulation (PWM) on the tail design or it could've been a result of the frame rate.
now i would totally buy that answer , even more so that i'm no car expert, but i did notice however in the first video from the 220 mark brake lights flashing on the mustang so if as you this also causes this then i'm sold.

Actually, I wasn't a big fan of it at first buts it's grown on me a lot since its debut and with all the glowing reviews...I've been thinking about it...

Arguing the resale value of a luxury car is futile. They are gonna lose more of their value faster than less expensive cars. Especially in the first few years. Luxury resale values have never been good unless your taking about a Lexus. Ford resale value has been on a steady increase of the last few years, because of quality improvement. At any rate the test wasn't a comparison of features, but performance. Even though the Mustang lost, it was well within range of beating the M3 that alones makes it an interesting comparison. The M3 has lost some of it's appeal by growing in size and adding a V-8. It's 400lbs heavier than the E46 M3, which is still arguably more desirable.

In general...yes...and sometimes dependent on geographical location. However, my point is that this particular model will be a treasure for enthusiasts for years to come. Simply being that M3's have generally been tuned (inline?) 6 cylinder engines. For the e92 series, they dropped a V8 for added performance before they switch to twin turbo tech.

To each his reach...as an auto enthusiast, i would absolutely select the e92 over e46 and def' over the GT.

do you actually own an M or a 325i,328,etc...?

For what it's worth...stock times for both at the Nürburgring's Nordschleife is 483.91s (M3) vs 508.71s (GT). I respect Nordschleife track time over most...just my opinion.

I think the obvious choice given the money would be the M3, but this video was strictly to address people discounting the GT's handling cred, there's no other reason to compare these, the M3 is in a totally different price range for a reason.

Good job Ford! The Mustang is doing big things:yes:

Wouldn't mind seeing a rematch when the Boss 302 comes out
2012mustangboss08.jpg

The latest special edition Mustang comes with plenty of items that will excite road racing fans - an upgraded clutch, short-throw shifter, adjustable suspension, improved brakes and a more potent version of the 5.0-liter V8 that produces 440 horsepower and 380 lb-ft torque thanks to a new intake and more aggressive camshafts. Ford claims the Boss 302 will be able to break 1.0g and lap a typical road course two seconds faster than the standard Mustang GT. Ford engineers even reportedly benchmarked the BMW M3 when developing the Boss 302, aiming to beat the famous Bavarian coupe around Laguna Seca, which they claim to have achieved.

me 3......:D

I've owned every generation of M3 except the current.....:)

this is a stupid comparo by the way..........people who are looking at M3's don't care about how it stacks up against a Mustang, and people who are looking at Mustangs have obviously bad taste in cars, them shits are fugly!!:D

:lol:I've seen worse comparisons. Do you remember the GMC Syclone vs Ferrari 348

While it might be business as usual for the M3, I think the article does shed light that the Mustang has come a long way, and that it can be mentioned in the same sentence as a M3, performance-wise with a straight face. Will it convert BMW owners, of course not. Will it get some new Mustang owners due to the fact that it hung closely with an M3? Sure

looks like ford finally has a winner. can't wait until the boss comes back out. wonder what else they have in store.. I was surprised at the kind of power the taurus s.h.o had.. compared to the more expensive m3, it's a win in my book.

That is purely your opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

The BMW M3 is a performance icon, Ford did a great job getting the new Mustang GT up to snuff.

Its always good to see american muscle bitch slap the imports.

Too bad that didn't happen in this thread
:smh:

When it runs neck and neck with a import that costs twice as much, oh yeah it happened.

If it's just about speed, I know 100 piece of shit hondas that'll beat them both. Is that what you think ur paying for? Or is one paying for quality, aesthetics, overall performance and prestige?

Glad to see that there are some knowledgeable bimmer heads on the board; im used to hearing "beemer" owners talk about how powerful of a "v6" they have in their car...:smh::smh::angry:I am a long time Bimmer owner and couldn't agree more. Whether it is spending my free time hunting for the perfect e30 m3 or trying to make my wife's car into one of turner motorsport's cars against her will, I wouldn't trade it for the world.
