Anybody Purchase CDs Anymore?

Yes. Mainly old (used) CDs from Amazon.com

Have bought plenty, but haven't gotten ANY retail for years,
until I just got the new Chaka Khan and I even got that one
in the 1st week so it was less than 10 bucks

I never bought CDs retail PERIOD. Since the days that came
out in the late 80's

I recently started buying cd's again. i figure the only way we're gonna see more positive hip hop in the market is to make it support it monetarily, and not support the bullshit that's out there.

I will only buy CD's. I would never pay to download an album off of ITunes or any other place. I can do that shit here for free and sometimes at a better bit rate. Whenever they go 100% downloads, that'll be the day I never pay for music again. I have to have the physical CD if I like the artist. It's rare that I buy a CD made by a newer artist tho.

Music that I would listen to in the house, I buy on cd. Music that I would probably only listen to in the car, I will download and probably lose the disk after a couple of months. I don't trust the sound quality of downloaded music (I know it can be equal) and hate mp3, so if I want to really listen to something, I get the cd from the store. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of new music coming out that makes me want to buy it.

Like others have said, it's totally artist dependent. This year, I've bought Common and Little Brother. 9 times out of 10, I'll DL, most artist and if I like the CD, I'll buy it retail.

Back in the day, I used to buy 2, 3 CD's PER WEEK, plus get 11 from joining BMG. Now, money is tighter and I can't afford to waste $$$$$ on bullshit.

I try and support the artist and CD's I download if they're good enough. People like Sean Price and Pharoahe Monch deserve my $10.

If you don't buy it, they might not be able to continue putting out music.

supply = demand

I have not purchased a new CD's in years. I buy at least 5 used CD's off EBay or Amazon every week. The vast majority of it is 10 years or older. There are only a handfull of artist I am interested in today.

Dlateshow

Fuck all that support the artist shit.
Them mufuckaz already rich.Kickin it on cribs with mansions, bentleys, ferarris talkin bout "support me".
Fuck dat!

Downloading music & movies is a package deal that comes with my internet bill.

Last CD I bought was Little Brother The GETBACK
I only support real hip hop. It seems those releases are far and few in between:smh:

Last cd I bought was in 96 or 97. Why purchase a computer, purchase starage drives, and pay for internet service if you are not going to use it as a real resource? It's like buying a newspaper for news, when you already pay for internet service, so you can have access to the newspaper's website!! This is the information age, why buy music? 95% of artists only give you $5 worth of good music on a cd anyway. You also have Itunes, in which you can sift through bullshit music on wack cd's. Musician's who are complaining about losing money need to switch hustles, increase quality of music, format their cd's using an undownloadable or uncopiable music format and keep up with the times. Be creative and create an invention to protect their trade. Common people have to switch from "Hot and Cold" hustles daily, monthly, and yearly. If they feel like it is a dead hustle, they should get a fucking job or a new trade just like everybody else in the world who is not filthy rich. Until then, I will be gobbling their shit up like Super Pacman!!!!!!!!

I used to have around 300 cds from the 80s-90. Gave them all away for 20 bucks at a garage sale. Last CD I bought was either Sade or Erykah Badu (the first one). Music today can not come close to some of the old artist like Jodeci, Guy, Keith Sweat, Anita Baker, and Rene and Angela. Man, dem were days :yes::yes: .

I havent purchased a CD Since the last good Tupac album , Makavelli : The 7 day theory (about 10 years ago). I have no plans on buying a single piece of music from anybody ever again. Free downloads is how I roll.

Just bought Alice Smith, got the Once soundtrack not too long ago. I buy CDs from some of my favorites(Nas,Timbaland, etc.) as soon as they come out.Mainly I download music and if I like it I'll at least consider buying it depending on price. So I get a lot of stuff from Amazon or ebay at a discounted price.

Do you people who don't buy CD's think artist are going to be able to keep making music when they are essentially doing it for free? Do you think labels are going to continue putting out music for free?

And you wonder why ringtone acts like Soulja Boy exist :smh:

Nope. I don't even buy CDRs anymore. Now that I can play my Zen through the car stereo, I have zero use for any form or cd. For downloaded software in CD form, I just mount the naked ass ISO, BIN CUE, etc...

Artist make their money by doing live shows, always have, always will.* Having your song out there is essentially advertisement for your shows. And Mother-Fuck a label. Labels are the enemy of artist and consumer alike. There are now other means of disseminating music that circumvent these monopolistic sons of bitches.

* Thus why Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones make more money than 50 Cent, despite not having had a hit record in decades.

I BUY MIXTAPE CDs. HAVEN'T BOUGHT ANY NEW SCHOOL IN A WHILE. NO RAP. IF I FIND SOME GOOD OLD SCHOOL I BUY. THAT'S ABOUT IT.

motherfuckers are rich
fuck them
you watch Cribs these assholes have goldplated toilets while working folk trying to keep the lights on.

2nd Soulja Boy is just making a pop hit
the same shit people have been doing for the past 100 years in this country.

From Chubby Checkers Twist to the Hustle
it's brainless fun music for kids and chicks to dance to. It is not the end of the world.

Yeah every artist is Jay-Z rich :hmm:

The Roots are rich, that's why they tour 300 days a year :hmm:

You need a CD to do a live show :hmm:

How are you going to tour and no one knows your material

White people know, adore and support indie artist, black people generally don't :smh:

The Roots got plenty of money, they tour because they want to.

How the fuck you know what Black people support or don't?!

100 or 200 years ago what did it mean to be a musician? You had to travel around and entertain people and you could make a decent living a few steps above working class people. Now because things have become so out of whack and you have people who make music earning more money that entire countries I'm supposed to feel bad they can't afford that third private jet?

Fuck outta here

Humans have had music for something like 100,000 years
True artists will do music for free. The rest of the assholes can go sell stocks if they want quick money.

Were you born stupid or is it just an act for the internet. You say some of the most retarded shit up here. :smh:

Yeah The Roots, who split their money about 15 different ways, tour because they want to be away from their families :hmm:

95% of musicians aren't making anymore than the average person.

What was the last show you saw, since you do all this supporting? I'm sure you go to new artist shows right? So you like the music enough to download, but not buy? So why download it, if you don't like it? You download it do bitch, complain and dislike it? So your music taste is listening to people rapping in ciphers on the block? Do you record this for home consumption :hmm:

Instead of trying to give some sort of reasoning that you thought in your little pea brain that you thought was logical, and just admit that you're cheap and/or broke.

I would call you a hypocrite, but you're not intelligent enough to get it :smh:

The smart person would see that as meaning BGOL posters. Seeing how it's posted on BGOL.

You on the other hand. :hmm:

The even smarter person would READ THE FUCKING 1ST POST where the question is clearly stated...

"Do any of you guys still actually purchase CDs?"

Who in here answered the shit for the entire CD buying public, but you?

Imbecile

:smh:

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I love when people destroy Blunt the way I do

once u own that fool, he runs away like a battered child

besides that, outsmarting this fool isnt that difficult and its fun to make an ass out of him

do we really need a member ban:confused:

good job bruh

keep up the good work!!!

I do, but not very often. When I do I go to one of the real record shops (Everybody's or Shake it Records here in Cincy) and scoop some old stuff or some electronica. Last CD"s I bought were Royskopp "Melody AM", Jill Scott, and MF Doom "Mm....Food".

While artists do get their money live, they'll do their live shoes where they are moving units as they expect the same people who bought the albums (or i-tunes, or any other traceable media) to support it live. I see alot of big name acts only doing the big cities now unlike back in the day when there would be a good 25-30 city tour.

You can fuck off and millionaire musicians can eat shit. I haven't bought shit in 10 years and I won't be buying anything else....ever.

Retards like you can support them.
