Lowe's is Closing 51 Stores in the US and Canada!!! WTF?!?!?!

Fuck Lowes, I bought a microwave from them last week and the installer did not call me within the stated time. When he finally called, he set an appointment and was 1.5 hours late. I just ignored him when he got to my door. I went to Best buy to buy a better microwave for cheaper and installed in tow days.

Recessed can lites ain't but 6.00 a piece down here...led trim like 15 for 2..how many cans you putting in? I installed 90 of em Friday for the mayor at city hall..I hit em for 2500.00..brah
God damn that’s it??? I only need like 8 put in. What about labor costs?! Cutting and dry wall etc?

I definitely prefer Home Depot...

I read somewhere a while back that both those stores chose very different store design paths.. Homedepot is more industrial and Lowes is more retail store lighted and atmosphere to appeal to women... I guess thats not working..

Yep...but mostly electric plumbing and air..brah
yo whats that valve under a sink called that could shut the water from reaching the faucet...

I had my bathroom redone, and they forgot to put one of those handles on the valve so I could turn off the cold or hot water from under the sink...

I need a universal one... just dont know the name of it to order one...

I thought the economy was booming

Shit starting to leak ain't it..brah?

It is.

An indicator of economic downturn is how many women you see doing jobs more geared towards men...like Uber and Amazon Flex. All of a sudden you see a lot of women hauling. That is not easy work.

In fact as I type this I have a female painting crew doing the paint on one of my projects. Never had that before. @killagram can speak on that. Usually I only see female cleaning crews...

Also, a lot of women are starting to become more overtly inquisitive about one's relationship status. I do a lot of contract work in higher education and I've noticed the uptick 'are you married' probing questions not only from faculty but the female students.

The volume on that 'Men ain't shit' is starting to turn down.... We are on the verge of an underemployment crisis....

It is [booming economy]...for online shopping

Because of this. A lot of people are going to become underemployed if not unemployable due to technological innovation. Just look at the automatic checkout at your local supermarket.

Shit about to get real REAL quick.

Loews was more of the discount home repair tools and supplies but there building material selection was crap. Home Depot are on more of a pro level of tools and supplies and staffing, and has better store locations more urban densely populated, where as Loews in my area are in more of a suburban locations nestled in strip malls. Made it harder to go in an out right away if your a contractor.

I go to and spent money at both.

Riding lawn mower, bought at Home Depot.

Refrigerator, bought at Lowe's.

New Air Conditioning/Central Air system, Home Depot.

Smaller appliances or yard tools, Lowe's.

I have two Lowe's near me and one Home Depot, I prefer Home Depot for its industrial feel whereas my wife prefers Lowe's.

WTF i was just in there the other day, i thought they were doing pretty good :eek2:

Waayyy more aggressive inquiring about a man's relationship status? Yes.

As far as in the workforce I'm noticing more women in jobs that have a manual labor aspect to them. To your electrician- I'm not surprised because she has to compete with men all out.

'Being cute' ain't gonna pay the bills no more. Chicks better get off they ass and hump....or roll over, toot that ass up in the air, and get humped.

That's what I was getting at.

CEO Marvin Ellison...

a Brother is runnin' shit now.
he wasn't able to do shit with JC Penney, so we'll see.
home remodeling is down nationwide; part of the downturn.

I always liked their tools. Got a Cobalt hammer/socket set/screwdriver set that I've used at least once a week for the last 6 years

Tightening the belt , preparing for the next housing downturn in a rising interest rate environment.

This is good responsible business management.

Existing home sales have slowed over the last 12-24 months, housing starts will slow in coming the year or 2. Hopefully not to abrubtly. That would be real bad. And thats what Lowes is trying to protect itself against.

Quite a few hedge funds are proping up the housing in big markets buying single family homes & renting them out. I dont know how that ends. But it will probably be ugly. Pricing is artificial like most bubbles.

:bravo:

Home Depot man myself Lowe’s has some bad customer service good to see it’s caught up w/ them

This is just the beginning. Started when they replaced full time workers, with two part time employees, then cut the part time employees hours, then stopped training giving new employees legit training which means very bad customer service, then the restructuring of management that cut out half of the department managers, a few assisstant managers..........all leads to low morale......CEO "retired" back in the summer..... This is just the beginning of store closures..I think stock closed at $96 on Friday, today which is Monday closed at $84.61 after the announcement of closures .... Home Depot you're up next. (Whatever happens at one seems to happen to the other.)

Not only is it not that old, but it's also on the old Plaza grounds in New Orleans East which lacks lots of retail presence.

All they have is Walmart on Bullard, drug stores and Family Dollars. Shit is bad out that way...

Since they're based up the road in the Carolinas from where I'm at, I support Lowe's because I feel like I'm supporting the local economy.

Interestingly enough, no stores in the Carolinas are impacted - I guess many people think like I do. Plus, I can't think of where the Home Depots are here, but I can think, off the top of my head, of several Lowe's locations in this area.
