Love or Work?

OK...here's one for the money or my 2¢

For some people, this is not a choice.

Some peoples lives are about their work and love is only to help the work.

Say, Martin Luther King. The way his wife loved him is to support his work.

Nowadays, you got women competing against a man's life work when that man's work may be of greater importance than the man himself.

Ask Michele Obama
:hmm:

:smh: @ some of the responses...

You already know my answer.

People always believe that chasing money is whats gonna make them happy. If that's the case, why are suicide rates higher among the wealthy? People who have money are not necessarily happy. People who have real love can always find something to look forward to.

Love comes and goes because a good amount of people fail to realize that you have to put time in. Love is a journey and not a destination and it should be treated as such.

maybe so....

but at the same time if love was holding me back from my goals, love would have to take a second seat. sacrifices have to be made......

as often as women like to remind men when they give reasons why they won't date a kat with no money:

love don't pay the bills.
love doesn't put a roof over your head or food on the table.

if you know that if you directed your efforts into something that was going to put you where you needed to be in a years time, are you going to through it out the window cause "love" was going to prevent you from doing so?

suicide rates are higher among because people lose that money and don't know what to do after the fact. that's why they commit suicide.

nothing to look forward to being broke, real love or not.

again which is why women like to point out "love don't pay the bills"

I don't believe so. I don't have the actual stats but ALL of those people can't be losing their money. I think that people on top are lonely and can't be themselves (not all of course).

Correlation is not causation. You can't believe that these people are killing themselves just because they are rich. You gotta show the link between the two in order for it to be a valid theory. Without the link, it's bull.

yet i've only heard women say it....

Have you heard of this song? Recorded by Barret Strong, then taken by the Beatles, then numerous other bands. Above is the Boys 2 Men version. Notice the line " Your love give me such a thrill, But your love don't pay my bills".

What is your point?

OMG ONE SONG! You disproved his point. There are several songs that go the other way. Hell, Beyonce has two or three.

point is, your quoting lyrics in "songs"

i'm quoting everyday words out of the mouths of women...i don't recall hearing them holding a tune when saying it.:hmm:

Even if you use the "song" logic. Hell, there's "Bills, Bills, Bills", "Scrubs", "Independent Women", "I can do bad all by myself", etc.

Barret Strong made that phrase famous.
I have heard many men say "love don't pay the bills".
Just because YOU don't think men say it, doesn't mean that's the way it is.

let's be real...

who's more likely to leave a relationship over financial problems?

a man

or

a woman?

why do you think financial moved from number 6 passing sexual incompatibility and boredom to number 4 as one of the top 10 reasons women have left their husbands...and is steadily gaining speed in bumping physical abuse out of it's number 3 spot? it's almost to the point a woman would rather get her ass beat then deal with the fact she's driving a cavalier over a bmw?

quoting an article:
Not surprisingly, American marriages last longer if the women:

grew up in an intact two-parent family;
consider religion to play an important role in their lives;
have a high family income; and

live in a community with high median family income, low male unemployment, and low poverty. Those factors increase the duration of a cohabiting relationship as well. 14.
