Looking to get some feedback on my site at www.africanrootsworld.com.

Is the slider working in your browser?
Did the page load fast?

I know I need to work on the header banner but for now the links work. Check the blog also.

Give me a like for facebook or share the site if you like.

I am doing the facebook page over because i didn't do it correctly in order to add a store app the the page.

Will have another link as soon as facebook send me the link to confirm account. I used the same email as for the account I deactivated so I think I caused a problem with getting the confirm link.

The shop will be open soon.

Thanks

Looks good, like it's in it's early stages.

Yeah, I am learning Magento as I go and integrated Wordpress blog into it. I need to get someone to work on the header banner, but I think I am going to keep the pages looking simple and plain, so just the shirts stand out.

cool site. Are you printing the tees yourself or outsourcing? I started a Tshirt makers ongoing thread. I'll bump it

The site took over 20 seconds to load up for me, all and all the site looked great. But the fact that it took that long to load can be a turn off for people with short attention span like myself.

Just re-checked the site after you've had more time to develop it. Just one question, what is the primary purpose of the site, to sell tee-shirts, a blog/academic insight into our and/or the worlds African Roots, with the sale of goods incidental thereto, or what ? ? ?

I guess what I am asking is: What is it that you are hoping to accomplish with the webpage ???

Well, I was trying to create a site to sell t-shirts with a blog to teach black history to help with selling. If you know history then you would buy a shirt and proudly wear it. I been thinking about taking the slider photos off the front page or label the pics, because most don't know who the people are.
I am open too any ideas for changes for the better.
I really like Magento because I can do alot with it. The blog is wordpress integrated into Magento.
I can make the blog the front page also but the site is for selling african/black designs, so I prefer to have the t-shirts up front.
I also plan to add other things such as shea butter and wall/car art that will be removable for the walls.

I am no web designer and learned Magento as I went but it turned out to be ready cool to work with. So thanks Que for any advice you can give.

Again thanks and Jah Bless.

Here's my take:

When I went to the site, I found the Tee's but, by the name of the site, I was expecting something different, i.e., something along lines of a scholarly, academic, journalistic, etc., oriented page that would tell me something about my roots that is not exactly well known, already. Hence, I was a bit disappointed. (I am being honest - - and not intending to be rude or to discourage you).

Just my 2 pennies - - but I would think if you're trying to sell shirts, the page needs to be geared more towards a commerial enterprise. Of course, if there is an African/Roots story worth telling regarding the design of a particular shirt/product -- then have a way of telling that story, within the page, in a way that grips the potential purchaser and makes him extremely proud/anxious to purchase/wear the product and be associated with the story/history. Don't tell him to buy the product (people don't usually do what they are told to do) -- but make his/her subconscious happily or compellingly grab the product right off of the webpage.

Tee's are sold everywhere in almost every design. What makes your's different ??? Why should someone purchase your shirts, as oppose to any others ??? Who (age group or other demographic) are you trying to attract ??? What about your product is designed to attract that audience ??? Think of yourself as a lawyer and your potential audience/buyers is the jury; now stand before them and convince them that your client (the shirts) are different and worthy of their vote (but don't provide any trade secrets or proprietary information in this forum .... LOL) - -

but go ahead, right here, and give the jury your spiel.

I know what you are saying, I have been fighting myself on how to tie it all together. I tried to keep the name general because, I wanted to sell more then just t-shirts. The name means everything in the world has african roots or because people of color are spread all over the world.
The problem is I am a computer tech guy that can do alot of tech stuff such as getting the site to work, but not that good in designing and writing good articles.
I can also link a blog post with a t-shirt design and I have done that for, I think one design.
I am spreading the word on pro black sites by building my cred on those sites with posts of black history for now.

I have no trade secrets. The magento and wordpress were free and anyone with a little patience can learn to use them together.

Now help me overstand this.

So from the posts, you learned nothing about black history. So, you already knew about the history of the Gullah people of SC. I have posted it here before but I know that most black people know nothing of the Gullah history in the US. or are you saying that you got to the front page looking for history and found t-shirts?

Again Thanks for the feedback and Jah Bless.

Ok, I have coded the site to redirect your mobile visitors to a mobile-optimized theme. i would like for Ipad users and any phone visitor to let me know of any error on your device.
I know the catalog link is not working at this time because I am unable to get the code correct to link it to the categories. I am working on it.

Just let me know how the site look on your device.

Thanks

I just figured out the code for the catalog link to work, so the click the catolg link to test also. Getting out of the code to go do other things cleared my mind to figure it out. Thanks Heat Miser :D
