10 years removed from the enron collapse, is it fair to say that the media (once again) contributed to painting a false picture by anointing VP sherron watkins a "whistleblower" and praising her efforts as heroic?

time magazine named her person of the week, she received awards for what? she didn't inform law enforcement, regulatory bodies, or even the media.

who did she contact? ken lay (criminal) and others complicit in the criminal enterprise like the enron accountant at arthur andersen (criminals).

the aspect i found most amusing was that sherron watkins was able to "figure out" the conspiracy in only 2 months time (after 10 years employment at enron) under scumbag andy fastow.

right.

Since then, the right has made it more difficult for those wanting to expose government and private waste and corruption. Limiting damage settlement payouts is just one of the ways the right is coddling wealthy criminals.

Remember this whistleblower that exposed Halliburton:

thanks for bringing that up.

that was another point i forgot.

IIRC, sherron watkins also rec'd $1.1M after resigning from enron. again, for what? she wasn't a whistleblower! she was monetarily rewarded for telling the boss that she thought the jig was up.

She paid the ultimate price, feared for her life and retired early after an attempt was made at her job to sabotage, make an unfortunate incident look like an accident right before her testimony that resulted in significant injury. It look like the people on her job were involved; some people in the government are un-convicted criminals in a well-paid public trust position.

She won a settlement for a million dollars for back pay and damages.
