~Living Off The Land/Werk thee ground - Tools & Tips~

I LOVE THIS THREAD......THERE IS NOTHING LIKE COUNTRY LIVING AND DOING IT FOR YOURSELF. NOBODY FUQN WITH YOU ON YOUR LAND AND YOU GOT REAL FREEDOM TO DO WHATEVER THE FUQ YOU WANT TO DO. KIDS ALWAYS AHD SOMETHING TO DO, ESP IF THERE WAS EXPLORATION TO BE DONE NEARBY....GETTING LOST IN THE WOODS TAUGHT ME LAND NAVIGATION B4 I KNEW WHAT THAT SHIT WAS IN THE MILITARY. WENT OUT WITH THE MARINES AND THEY WERE ASTOUNDED ON HOW MUCH I KNEW ABOUT THE WOODS. HOW TO ID TREES, MAKE DAKOTA FIRE PITS, FISH, HUNT, PINE TREE SAP FOR WOUNDS AND MAKING PITCH, ID LIGHTER WOOD, TRACKING ANIMALS, AND YES DIRECTIONS. I LOVED TELLING THE COTDAYUM BUTTER BARS AND THE NEWBIES THEY WERE ALL HEADED IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. THEY COULDNT READ A MAP FOR SHIT (NO COMPASSES PROVIDED)......LOL......PLUS TEACHING THEM THE OLD BOY SCOUT TRICK OF DETERMINING HOW MUCH DAYLIGHT YOU HAVE LEFT USING YOUR FINGERS. EVEN THE INSTRUCTORS HAD TO ADMIT THAT THIS COUNTRY BUNKIN ASS GUY KNEW HIS WAY AROUND THE WOODS....I MISS THOSE DAYS AND CANT WAIT TO GET BACK TO THE FARM LIFE.

@Mrfreddygoodbud this what I built.

Used a pallet from fencing company across the way.
My peeps gave me some kitty litter bins.
I built this probably two months again but never planted anything.
I choose to elevate them, to keep from being on ground and all of the bending over.

Monday, I went do some work for a lady. I told her about my desire to start gardening.
She often plant veggies, along with her sister.
She does okra. Cucumber, carrots, snap peas, cabbage and sometimes egg plants.

When I told her about the potatoes stand, she was excited. She told me, “When u have time I might get you to build me something that elevated also”
The lady is in her early 70’s and in great shape…but understood why I went with the elevated approach.

After I finish cutting down the lil stump for her, she showed me her potatoes plants.
She told me I can have a tot to start planting in. She had like 4 rows of potatoes and recycle bin. She end up giving me the bin that she already started.

Told me “There should be 8 plants and I could transfer 4 of them to my setup”

Monday there was two, I just went look and another two popped up…

Didn’t know what to expect, since this was my first time doing this….

Once moving the first one, this what I saw…

Hopefully I didn’t damage the plants, they wilted over

Off the grid hydroelectric power

Most concerns with this build is wall thickness… maybe another two layers of brick for wall thickness
