Thinking of promoting a few old school r and b shows locally. It seems like a market that's not being served here right now. Any suggestions on how to get started and tips on how to do it well? Any info would be appreciated.

first thing is networking. Its kind of similiar to Night Club promoting. Yet you can break a few rules. With Night Club promoting you try to build your name... a trademark for your events and company. With doing shows and concerts, you can just do hardcore promoting on radio, net, and TV and get results... people don't care about necessarily your event or your name but just who the act is.


Get good with same venues... they can give you deals for getting the place. Some clubs might even go half with you on getting the artist but of course, they gonna get a cut of the profits as well.


Just start going out and networking... you going to need connects for the act's managers or booking agent.


For your first event, I would recommend to collab with another promoter that has more experience.


Find the price of the artist... find a venue to accomadate... promote your ass off... then enjoy the benefits.
