Lil Wayne Faces Twitter Wrath For Comments About George Floyd Killing

"Lil Wayne appeared on an episode of Fat Joe’s Instagram Live show on Thursday night (May 28) where he was asked about the police killing of George Floyd.

When Joe asked what he thought about the cop “stepping on his neck and all of that,” Wayne replied, “I think when we see these situations, I think we also have to understand that we have to get very specific. We have to get so specific.

“What I mean by that, we have to stop viewing it from such a broad view, meaning we have to stop placing the blame on the whole force and the whole everybody of a certain race, everybody with a badge. We have to actually get into who that person is. If we want to place the blame on anybody, it should be ourselves not doing more than what we think we’re doing.”

Wayne went on to explain why he doesn’t get involved in political issues and flatly stated he’d rather do nothing than simply fire off a tweet or wear a shirt with a hashtag.

“The reason people always ask me like, ‘Why you don’t say this? Why you don’t do that?’ is because what else am I going to do after that?” he continued. “Some people put out a tweet and think they did something. Some people wear a shirt and think they did something. Whatcha gonna do after that?

“Did you actually help the person? Did you help the family? Did you actually go out there and do something? If ain’t about to do all that, then I ain’t about to do nothing. I pray for you.”

Weezy’s answer evidently didn’t sit well with Twitter and the multiplatinum-selling rapper was promptly roasted.

Several people reminded Twitter of his controversial 2016 interview with Nightline where he got noticeably agitated when asked about the Black Lives Matter and said, “I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothin’ to do with me.” He later added, “My life matter … especially to my bitches.”

Check out some of the reactions below.

Wayne is interesting. Folks look at Wayne and see all that he's been given and believe THAT should be the baseline for his belief system. The truth is Wayne sees exactly what's in the mirror when he looks at himself. Someone who would be treated completely different without the fame and money. The love he receives from his community isn't genuine in his eyes, therefore he feels no connection to them. Granted, this is all speculation on my part but I do see a common thread among Blacks who feel the same way especially after they've made it.

Don’t sound good but how do you expect someone of his stature who has enjoyed the privilege of his lifestyle so long that he is detached from many the ills of the black experience.

With that said his comments aren’t that bad. I thought it was gonna be some real ig’nant shit. It sounds like he wants us to not make it a us vs them fight, and just focus on the wrong doings of that SINGLE officer  to make YT feel better about us not addressing it as racism and the disparities we see coming from institutionalized violence.

But we all know that is bullshit because these several cases like this happen across the United States not just a single separate issue when it concerns violence from police on Black people.

It’s not just a single issue of the “One bad apple”. There is a systemic problem and racism is at the root.

Not sure why he was roasted because he gave a very educated answer that made sense.

He is right about people who send tweets or wear shirts but don’t do anything else.

He also gave a good answer about not condemning an entire race of people for the actions of a few

lol @ black folk still looking to these celebrities for enlightenment, especially Wezzy the drug equivalent of the Keith Richards of hip-hop.

You do realize that he feels he owes his life to a white cop right?

The problem is he'd rather do/ say nothing, than say something and then have to actually do something afterwards.

Its the easy way out vs using your celebrity to help the cause

I think Wayne's attitude is poor, BUT the question(s) he poses are very legitimate. When you look at the date, say 1691, the official unofficial beginning of the Atlantic Slave Trade until now, that's 329 years, roughly!!! Therefore, for 329 years we have been trying to reason, rationalize, spiritualize, plead, legislate, shame, guilt, and embarrass a people (loosely white people) into dealing with us better. And for 329 years they have indiscriminately killed us, beat us, denied us, and lynched us!!! At times when we have tried to separate from them, and have proved in our separation or self-imposed exile to not only be equal in accomplishment but superior, they have followed us only to destroy what we built for ourselves!!!

WHAT ARE WE NOW PREPARED TO DO??? ANSWER, AND I QUOTE "Moral persuasion doesn't work with Caucasians, you [must] speak his language [which is] through violence with guns blazen', so what I'm sayin' negotiating with Satin its a waste of time, you out of your African MIND!!! Lil Wayne BEEN a coon ass sell out and a lot of y’all give him a pass cause you think he raps good. I haven’t fucked with Wayne in years.

If you’re immediate reaction isn’t “Fuck this dude” then you’re part of the problem cause you’re giving a pass too coonery.

Just because a person is a celebrity does not make them the voice of an entire race. Some people don’t want that responsibility. As people we have to respect that

Everyone does not want to speak for a entire race of people or get involved in politics. We have to stop looking at celebrities as our parents.

It is probably annoying that every time something happens people are pushing cameras and mics in their faces expecting them to have all the answers.

Wayne been getting dragged by ADOS and FBA, and he is ADOS. We call out our coons.

Fat Boy set Wayne up. In the future he needs to set conditions no racism and politics.

its not 1691. its 1931 with PC masking and suppressing the masses, forced integration, a liberal hollywood making themselves cry to feel something, and with a Kkk infiltrated police force.
