George Atkinson, II, a two-time Pro Bowler, and a member of one of the NFL'S greatest defensive secondaries, has passed away at the age of 78. One of the hardest hitting safeties of the 1970s, Atkinson was the last surviving member of the Oakland Raiders "Soul Patrol" secondary, which included safety Jack Tatum, cornerback Skip Thomas, and Hall of Fame cornerback Willie Brown.

What an example of a solid Black Man and absolute football legend he is!!! Rest in Peace, Power, and Pride!!!

Him and Tatum hurt a lot of mofos back in the day.
RIP

Yep and a lot of it wasn't just hardnosed football, he and Jack Tatum went after players with the intent not just to tackle but to injure.
Tatum paralyzed Darryl Stingley for life in a meaningless preseason game with a hit that was way over top with tragic consequences. :hmm:
